Thanks for posting this.

Right now, there's a sad little HOB merch shop tucked under the escalators. I couldn't bring myself to take a picture, as I and the poor guy stationed there were the only humans within sight of each other. It just felt awkward, and there was no chance of getting any kind of "candid" shot.

House of Blues has announced it will now open in March, 2017. (Originally it was "Summer 2016", then that was pushed back to "November, 2016") http://www.ocregister.com/articles/house-733818-blues-anaheim.html

Some new renderings of the interiors are now available. It's a big space, where those 12 movie theaters once were.

Maybe you could get him to pose?

I have had similar situations many times, I usually ask, do you mind being in a picture that will be public, or would you prefer to step away and get out of camera range? ,and then just take a photo of the stand.

Thanks. That's sound advice, but for some reason nothing felt right that day. Perhaps next time around I'll strike up a conversation about the upcoming opening, and it's optimistic outlook. That'll help things along.

Nothing really new, but still an interesting set of numbers....

http://www.mercurynews.com/2016/10/...aks-especially-aerospace-entertainment-media/

>>The Walt Disney Co. weighed in at No. 4, receiving subsidies worth $149.7 million. Most of that came from the city of Anaheim, which agreed to foot the bill for up to $200 million in infrastructure improvements when Disney built its second theme park, California Adventure, next to Disneyland. The Mickey & Friends Parking Structure cost the city $108 million, electrical improvements cost $17.6 million, and a pedestrian bridge cost $3.6 million, Anaheim said.<<

...in other adjacent tourist area news...

It looks like the former Movieland Wax Museum building (and it's associated structures) have been torn down. The iconic sign still remains. Status of the Herve Villechaize and Billy Barty footprints is currently unknown.

Here is a date to remember, and might be a very good test of the current parking issues.

Saturday, January 21st, 2017.

We will have the NAMM Show, an.d its over 100,000 convention folks, and more than likely renting out the Hyperion Theater that night.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross being held at Angel Stadium

And just announced, UFC 208 (Ultimate Fighting Championship) at the Honda Center.

So a lot of Disney's "Alternative parking" will not be available, and the city will be using parts of the current Disney lots (Toy Story and Simba) for the NAMM show.

Sounds like Anaheim's version of The Perfect Storm. Perhaps Unite Here can throw a fit somewhere on Katella just to put icing on the traffic cake.

I posted it in the Wincome thread, but basically out of the 7 seats in the "new" council, 4 were up for election (The Mayor and 2 councilpersons will be up in 2 years - only 1 of the 3 was a Disney/Pro-business supporter.)

I just checked the latest results, 3 of the 4 will be pro-business, and the 4th will be more pro-union. (Simple terms, much more complicated than that). So what is now 3 to 2 pro-business will become 4 out 7 pro-business.

One weird thing, out of the 4 who were voted in this election, all their names will be placed in a hat, and one will be drawn and only get a 2 year term. (The others will serve 4 years.)

One piece of good news, looks like the Anaheim Convention Center is progressing to the point that they can open the new underground 1,350 parking spaces by January. The actual convention center expansion won't be done, but they do have a plan in place to at least open the connecting bridge to the current space for parking lot access.

I parked at the Convention Center once (think it was one of the Disney races that pushed me there). They locked me out of the garage, couldn't get to my car.
