I understand the disappointment (I was disappointed) but in all actuality, we were never promimsed anyting interesting would be announced. Plus, IIRC there are other oppurtunities for them to announce their plans in the near future.

I think the disappointment derives from the fact that they didn't announce the revised Fantasyland plans at what could have been an opportune moment. Which makes me wonder- are there any upcoming press conferences during which they could be unveiled?

My opinion/thought: they want people to book vacations to WDW for 2011 NOW based on this new promotion and not wait until late 2012/early 2013 when FantasyLand is done. I'm sure there are a lot of people (not most of us forum members) that will skip next year to go in 2012 to experience the new FL.

Wow

Wow...I mean Wowless!!!

As a Disney fan for over 39 years and a Marketing Consultant, I was less then thrilled with the conference... I can appreciate the marketing campaign but the broadcast was AWEFUL...

First of all, Tom Staggs was interupted just about every time he went to speak.

Then it seemed as if there were 4 people in the audience that were forced to applaud...

I expected ALOT more from the leader in media, entertainment, and of course Magic!

I am not just an armchair fan... I do this for a living and I felt very uncomfortable for Tom during this broadcast...

Get 'em next time Disney????

Also, I must get this off my chest. Tom Burgeron annoys the HELL out of me. I hate his jokes and anything associated with Dancing With the Has-Beens.

Anyone else feel this way?

wasnt this press conference just an infomercial for AFV and DWTS with recaps of other plans?

I'm a senior at Gulf Coast High school! All those schools are nearby :)

Very cool!! I know we only have Coke machines in the Teachers Lounge, so maaaybe you signed one for my school. IDK why but the 100 year olds running the place only have water available for students and canned orange juice/grape/etc. Ew :brick:

Can't even bring myself to watch it, I've heard it was that bad (the conference). I reaaaallly think there's something about him that's so fake about him and I really want to knock him out. Just an aura he puts off.:lookaroun

Gulf coast HS...THE SHARKS RIGHT???

I did in fact sign the contracts for that school as well... Collier county schools wanted it that way as far as juice etc..... Obesity was an issue so they changed that for most schools.....

FLE was kept secret until the plans showed up mere weeks before and still people thought it was a joke.

But that's the point. They were trying to keep it secret and really never had a chance. The plans leaked, the images were online, and they had to go ahead and announce it. I didn't learn anything in the FLE announcement that I didn't already know from the internet. We don't even know for sure that they announced it when they wanted to (and didn't, instead, move the announcement date up because everyone knew about it anyway and would have been aggravated it it wasn't announced at the convention).

DITTO !! I can't stand the show and I can't stand him...The press conference was horrible..I didn't watch it live TG !!! I started watching it and fast forwarded and learned nothing, so i had to find it one the internet..it's a great idea, but how do you choose one memory? I could spend all day, every day the next weeks just submitting memories and I have only been there 6 times

"Memories" is a unique marketing strategy. Most marketing emphasizes living in the moment, or anticipation of upcoming experiences. This is backward looking. Most marketing campaigns are aimed at younger people. Any focus group or survey research surely would show that the concept of "memories" would appeal more to older than to younger audiences.

So I'm rather mystified by it all.

Don't they normally show the "Big" future plans at the Expo??? If that is true, wouldn't they wait till the next Expo to show off the new big plans?

Not really. There has only been 1 expo, and the announcements there were rushed out in response to a lot of internet leaks, and to give something of substance for the first expo.

Typically attraction plans tend to be announced at major press events at WDW.

Well I think it's a great marketing campaign. I know when they do things, they do it right. As for future attractions and info on FLE, when they're ready... They'll tell everyone. All this complaining from everyone is everyones impatience and Greed.

I think when prices for admission, parking, food and resorts is increased year after year, the paying guest has every right to expect something in return. Magic Kingdom has not had a major new E-Ticket attraction since 1992. Does that seem right? Don't we as Disney fans expect more? Remember this is a company that makes BILLIONS in profit a year.

Disney's biggest fans are also their harshest critics. In most cases though, it's like wanting the best for you children. People know Disney can do so much better. Events like today just rub salt into a wound.
