As first mentioned on the Disney Blog, and discussed here (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=634817), today at 12:45ET in NYC new plans for the Disney Parks were announced.
Below is a detailed description of the event.
The event was hosted by America's Funniest Home Videos frontman Tom Bergeron, and after a short monologue from Tom, he introduced Peter Yesawich, CEO of Ypartnership. Peter gave a great presentation on the data that Ypartnership was able to provide for the Walt Disney World Co., and how that data will inspire Disney to launch the new 'Let the Memories Begin' campaign in January of 2011. Next was a surprise appearance from Michael J. Fox, who shared a few great Disney memories with host Tom Bergeron. Then Tom Staggs came out.
Tom first talked about Disneyland; WoC at DCA, Aeriel's Adventure, ST 2.0 and the newly themed entrance to DCA. Nothing new, just reviewing.
Tom then talked about the Disney Cruise line division. He shared his excitement for the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder. Again, nothing new; just reviewing.
DVC was the next topic, with a brief review on Aulani. He said Adventures by Disney had exciting plans, but he didn't elaborate.
Tom then talked about the new Memories campaign, and how excited he was for the new 2011 campaign. He then shared two commercials from the new Let The Memories Begin campaign. The commercials featured home videos from real families. One of the families featured in the commercial was then interviewed on stage. He then shared with us that people can submit videos and pictures from their days in the park, and those videos/pictures from the same day will be projected onto Cinderellas Castle (WDW) or IaSW (DL) each night to a new song (song 'Let the Memories Begin' by Montego Glover -- IMHO, it was just OK)
Then the WDW news we were all waiting for came. Big News. BIG BIG NEWS!!
NOTHING!!! NOT EVEN A WDW SHOUT OUT!
For more information on the new Disney Memories campaign that will begin in January 2011, read more about it at www.DisneyParks.com/memories.
