Completely disagree! I don't understand people who get upset that they can't have alcohol. Sounds like they have bigger problems in their life and they shouldn't be at WDW.

Really? Theres nothing wrong with wanting a beer when your on VACATION! I don't understand people who get upset when people say they want a beer. Personally I'd love to be able to grab a cold one sit down in the new fantasyland and people watch and soak up the atmosphere. What's so wrong with wanting that?

Jeez, I hope the West Wing hasn't been dropped as part of the restaurant. I was really looking forward to a slightly eerie area, with gargoyles and so on. Bummer. :(
Chris Beatty said they came up with an effect for the enchanted rose. I saw it in a video when he let guests tour the site. I'd count on seeing it.

You can't get alcohol at Disneyland. Club 33 is not in Disneyland.

Oh boy, are you seriously mistaken. Club 33 IS in Disneyland, right in New Orleans Square, and you CAN order an alcoholic drink too. If you go to Tom Bricker's website, Disney Tourist Blog, you'll find his review on Club 33, the place that's INSIDE Disneyland Park. Unless you were joking?

???

It seems like pretty much everyone has one idea or another on how WDW could be improved. And all of them "shouldn't be at WDW"?

For the record I couldn't care less if MK sells alcohol. But I don't think someone who suggests it necessarily has "bigger problems in their life."

I don't like the idea of being able to get alcohol in the MK...but I'm not opposed to the sit-down restaurants serving it with a meal. No bar...just at the table...and only beer/wine.

Yes, I like to pair a nice beer or wine with my meal. Clearly I'm an alcoholic Thanks for opening my eyes, I'll go sign up for my local AA meetings stat.

And guess what...I've been drunk in a Disney park before! And I had even more fun than I usually do! How dare I do that on vacation!:zipit:

Wow how shocking that WDW is cutting corners again by getting rid of the West Wing and the library area of the restaurant. Once again Universal has them beat. I mean look at all of the attention to detail in the Harry Potter section. BTW, from the pictures I've seen the ballroom looks NOTHING like it does in the movie.

Did I miss something? Was there an official confirmation that the West Wing has been cut?

Absolutely no confirmation, just speculation because it was not mentioned in the article the that op posted. There was a link to a video a couple posts ago where Imagineer Chris Beatty mentioned the West Wing. Since this video was recorded back in April I doubt it was cut between then and now.

Thanks for confirming what I thought to be true.

I really truly don't understand why they don't serve alcohol in the Magic Kingdom. Well, I do "understand", but I don't understand.

I get that back in the day Walt wanted to maintain a strict family atmosphere in his parks, but now fast-forward to our times when there is more than one park, why do they serve alcohol in any of the parks? Are they implying it's important to maintain a family atmosphere in one park but not the others? I get that the Magic Kingdom is the centerpiece of the whole Disney image in WDW, but I think it's asinine to have a dry policy in one park and not in the others. I'm sure there's been many a person that has been wasted drinking around World Showcase, but I can't remember seeing anyone truly sloshed when in Disney. With the prices they charge for drinks, I don't think the average person can afford to. But I enjoy having a beer/drink or two while in the parks, as I'm sure many others do.

I just think this is an age-old policy that harkens back to a different era, and if it was strictly maintained in all the parks to truly stand out from everything in our time and be family friendly, then ok, I can see it. But I seriously can't understand the one park thing, even if it is the park most meant for children. There are always kids in the other three parks. Are they going to be any less affected seeing someone drunk riding Nemo, seeing Playhouse Disney, or walking around Camp Minnie-Mickey than they would if someone was drunk by Dumbo? There's really no difference, is there?

Just like the Disney Look thing was altered recently, (which I neither agree or disagree with) I think it's time to change the rules on this one.

Dont alot of people sneak the airplane size bottles in to drink? They might as well serve alchohol and make a profit. I love a bacon cheeseburger at Pecos Bills. Beer would be perfect there.

I think it's because some people live more alcohol-centric lives than others. To some, it's odd that people feel they need a drink everywhere they visit. To others, it's a natural part of daily life.

Personally, I'm just fine with how it is. If someone can't go to one theme park that doesn't serve and it greatly impacts their trip, then that's a personal issue they need to deal with. It's nice to not have smelly beer stands at least one place.

Basically, one side says, "Why can't we have it?" and the other says, "Why do you feel you need it?"

/shrug

I think the world will survive either way, but I don't think one dry park is going to really impact the vacation of any normal person.

Since this seems to have officially turned into a Gaston's Tavern beer thread...if getting beer and wine into MK involves Budweiser and Miller light, I'm happy without em! You know those would be the types of beer in MK and not the good tasty things because they're the commercial beers.

I'm firmly in the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" camp. MK seems to be doing just fine without alcohol, so why change it. If I want a good meal with a nice pairing of wine or beer, I'll go to world showcase!
