New Country at Epcot?!?!?

I'd love to see any new Countries in WS but think Greece would be an amazing fit and finally give a home to Hercules and Megara.
I would say Italy is the better fit for Hercules unless Disney decides to use the Greek name instead. I am saying that while a lot of the Disney movie uses the names of the gods the ancient Greeks gave them, Disney did not do the same with Hercules. Disney used the roman name of the character because Hercules actually is known as Heracles in Greece.

Megara is fine to be in Greece if Disney adds Greece to World Showcase.

I read a good deal about the history of Greece during ancient times and ancient Rome growing up. Greece has a lot of history, But Disney would have to be careful what should be put in Greece Pavilion for World Showcase since Italy is already in World Showcase.

I am saying that because Italy has a lot of Greek influence when talking about Ancient Rome in terms of culture. I am not talking about food since both countries have different types of food, but in other things in terms of culture. Ancient Romans apparently were so impressed by the Ancients Greeks in culture that they used the same gods under different names. Painting, literature, and Music of Ancient Rome was influenced by Ancient Greece matter of fact.

I think Disney would be willing to foot a sizeable amount of the bill just to have the merhandising options for great characters that are under represented in the parks, and even though Greece may not be in a position to foot the bill, there are plenty of smaller companies in Greece that would probably pay something to have their products associated with Disney.

Something tells me that they're going to be hard pressed to get sponsorship money out of Greece right now.

I would actually love to see "Europe" added to the Animal Kingdom with a focus on the mythical animals in Greek Mythology.

I have always said that Disney would be incredibly smart to add in either Greece or India. Both have BEAUTIFUL landmarks (the Taj Mahal and the statues/buildings/acropolis' in Greece) and amazing food, lots of color, etc. I think these places would get people (me, included) flocking to Epcot.

Regardless of how History and Geography see Hercules or Heracles... Disney Cannon has him (Hercules) plopped right in the middle of Greece. Building a pavilion for him to have a meet and greet would make at least as much sense as having Aladdin outside of Morocco. Plus we'd get some delicious GYROs in the park.

I'd love to see street vendors slicing off pieces of meat from a lamb shank with a machete.

I would like to see attractions added or replace movies at some of the present countries, perhaps dark rides like Pinocchio in Italy / 101 Dalmatians in UK / Tangled in Germany / Mulan in China / Hunchback of Notre Dame in France. I have never thought of WS as being a "worlds fair" These shows or rides would connect the country with the stories Disney has retold from books in their regions. AA should have a better dining experience with regional food...BBQ / Thanksgiving feast family style / Maine lobster / Maryland crabcakes /Philly cheesesteak / southern fried chicken / cajun etc.

Yes, Greece all the way! It could be such a great attraction!!

Libery Inn is the only area on that entire side of the park where cuisine-picky guests can sit, relax and enjoy some cool air. Also a lot of children are picky eaters as well and this area allows parents to feed their children what they want without having to go all the way back to the Electric Umbrella or Sunshine Seasons.

If they want to still have a kids menu, they can have that but it shouldn't be the reason that in world showcase, AA does not have food that represents this country.

Last I checked Greece and most countries are broke.
Sponsoring a country in World Showcase has little return or benefit.
Only a few of the pavilions receive government support. The rest have corporate sponsors. In the case of Canada, Disney built that pavilion without any sponsorships.

No offense meant, that is an interesting tidbit about spelling of Hercules, but why would it at all be relevant to where they placed a Hercules meet and greet? The Disney movie clearly placed them in Greece and most of the world associates the story of Hercules with Greece Disney never exactly has been one for historical accuracy...see Pocahontas as an example of that. The only things they got right was that there was a person named Pocahontas, a person named John Smith, and a person named Ratcliffe and that it took place while establishing Jamestown. Everything else was basically nonsense. Not that I still didn't enjoy it... ;)

Also, yay!!! 200 posts for me!

Also, could you elaborate on why Disney would have to be so careful when it came to putting Greece in? Yes Italy had a lot of Greek influence, but still, they are very different, different histories, arts, ect. I'd love to see a mini Acropolis put in. And I would totally watch a movie about ancient Greece...they could even talk about how the influenced Italy! It's sad this is all hypothetical and Greece is so broke I think there is about as much a chance as North Korea going into the world showcase as there is Greece.

WS is great, but IMO there should be an attraction per country. The countries without attractions have always felt unfinished to me and still do.

My vote is not for a new country but for new attractions in Japan, where there is a large show building already, and/or Germany, where there is part of a show building. I would love a new country but new attractions would be almost as good and more feasible.

I understand the Japan show building is used for storage at present; fine, build a dedicated storage facility somewhere offstage and move the stuff into that.

I too fall into the category of people who want to see attractions/rides in each country. Honestly, aside from looking at some of the decor in some countries, there isn't really much to keep me there more than say 5-10 minutes. If you aren't eating in that country, and not shopping, there's just not much.
