Screamscape reports today that a new Ratatouille coaster is to be build next door to TSM in sound stage 1 and is being fast tracked. Construction could start within 6 months.

I know we have had some discussion about the Crush's Coaster type ride coming and being enclosed. Well here it is.

What is the possibility of this being true??

From Screamscape:

Ratatouille Coaster - Rumor - (8/22/07) Screamscape sources have informed us that Walt Disney World management has just approved the budget to fast-track construction of a new indoor spinning roller coaster based on the film Ratatouille. As rumored for the past few weeks, the ride system will be based on the coaster design used for Crush’s Coaster that just opened earlier this summer at Walt Disney Studios Paris. This is a customized varient of the Maurer-Sohne SC-2000 layout. The new coaster is expected to be placed in the Soundstage One area right next to Toy Story Mania and construction could start within the next six months.

I'd rather have Ratawhatever coaster than ANOTHER Finding Nemo attraction inspired by a Disney Presentation of the Pixar Animation Studio's Film, Finding Nemo.

Sounds like a pretty cool concept to me, although I dunno if Ratatouille is the right movie to theme the coaster with.

 Yah, food and spinning coasters don't often make a good combo...

That having been said, I really think we don't need yet another Nemo-based ride.

I love this rumor there is like a thread every week and always information from ScreamScape. Anyway, as I always say, it's been in rumor with a couple different Pixar Pictures including Cars and now Rat, possibly being located where the old Hunchback Theater was. Anyway, I love that so many people are noticing this rumor and the excitement around it. It would be great for the park, and would hopefully spread out the distribution of people throughout the park. If they put in that and then put in the Indiana Jones ride instead of the stunt show since they have 2 stunt shows now that would make DHS an awesome park!! Also, I'm glad you posted this because it actually talks about a budget approval and that's part I had not heard. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Personally, I think The Incredibles should be involved in the theming of this ride, seems like a good choice for a coaster.

Ummm, there is room for an IJ ride and the Stunt Show. Why can't there be two stunt shows? Especially with a new movie coming out. I have seen the show twice recently and the crowds still love it. It may be the better of the two stunt shows.

majortom1981, "Is the spinning coaster in animal kingdom popular enough to warrant building one in one of the other parks?"

Apples and oranges. One is lightly themed and probably not permanent, the other is Indoors and will be heavily themed.

TestTrack, "As much as I liked Ratatouille, if they build this, its going to date itself fast."

Huh, how do you figure?:veryconfu

I agree. Even though I love Ratatouille, I don't think that it would make a good ride or even a attraction. The Incredbles on the other hand is one of the most popular pixar movies(if not the most popular) and its one of the only ones that doesnt have a ride. I personally hope that this rumor isnt true and that they build a Incredi-coaster.

How many people have actually seen "Wind in the Willows"? How many kids could tell you Cyril's relationship to J. Thaddeus?

And yet some were willing to strap themselves to a Mr. Toad's Wild Ride vehicle to save that attraction from destruction.

A good ride is a good ride, regardless of the character's popularity (just as a popular character like Stictch does not guarantee a good attraction.)

Have there been any rumors of a Ratatouille TV spin-off? If so, that could be the rationale over the theming of the coaster. The Lilo and Stitch cartoon shows have certainly boosted that franchise a lot more than the movie alone would have.

I agree that DHS could use more attractions. We were planning our meals for an upcoming trip and decided not to book a dinner at DHS because we usually run out of things to do there by mid-afternoon and head to Epcot.

Maybe, just maybe they have something bigger planned for "The Incredibles" than a simple Indoor Spinning Coaster. Time will tell. Personally I would rather wait for an E ticket Incredibles ride.

or the absence of characters alltogether. :lookaroun

Anyway, I don't see Ratatouille as a bad choice. This will not be a major attraction, and I think that the Incredibles could be better used in something larger for the Studios.

We can only hope, because the Incredibles definitely has the potential to be made into an awesome attraction.

Maybe this coaster will be multi purpose/multi use, as in, every two years or so, it can be easily rethemed to the most current popular movie release....
