this is exactly what i thought 3 days ago when i went. I talked to the photopass guy in front of the theater and told him exactly this!!!!!We get an awesome view of the theater only to be blocked by an ugly stage.

That would be fun though impossible.
Do we know if the spires are still in the works to go back up?
When not in use, they should have the screen show an image of the part of the theatre that it is hiding, sort of a digital scrim.
Because the screen is pretty far in front of the actual Chinese theater, any image they could use would work from one vantage point only and be distracting everywhere else.Well, you could pick an image that would work pretty well for most of the street, I'd think.

The permit that we assumed was for the spires was filed 3 months ago. I am surprised we haven't seen any work yet. It is possible that the permit was mis-interpreted.
Keep the parade where it is with a mini stage in the vicinity.
I've seen the crowds too. I did Frozen Summer (including the zoo of the last night) plus Friday the 13th Villains Night the first time. SOA is for intents and purpose the same length as Hollywood. Plus you've the old Washington Sq space. Plus you've the street to and in front of Premiere Theatre with a clear view of the stage area. Plus you've a perfect spot on the main crossroads for a second LCD screen.
But I'm not an armchair engineer. People get paid to think these things.
The fireworks you missed
That's not impossible, would take lots of work and money though. That would be fun though impossible.
I cannot imagine a screen that is up high 100 feet in front of a building being able to have an image that lines up with the actual structure from both 1000 feet away and 100 feet away. It is geometrically impossible. That's not impossible, would take lots of work and money though.
This week then. That would be most welcomed.Spires should be back before SWW.
they repainted the green part on the frontWas the whole theatre facade repainted or just the roof?
The blocked it with an fing stage!!!they repainted the green part on the front
Temporary stage, they had it painted before the stage was up, and it looked nice. And we don't know if they stage is retractable yet... Probably not, but wishful thinkingThe blocked it with an fing stage!!!
