Smarty pants, it's called the laws of physics. You can't have a savanna uninterrupted by guest paths as well as guest paths that go through the savanna. It's one or the other. That's not a WDW operating philosophy, that's the nature of space-time.
That's even better. "WDW - Harnessing the nature of Space-Time for our valued guests."

We can now blame physics for limiting guest viewing of large animals.

Think for yourselfer
According to Disney, 80 to 100 feet

At first I thought that seems very far. But then I thought it's not too far. And then I thought, I should not bother thinking of this anymore.

I just had to chime in and say that I found the remark by a previous poster that the people on the viewing decks at the safari ride looked like people living in a trailer park offensive. What? That remark was totally uncalled for. There are people who do actually live in all areas of this land, and trying to insinuate that those who live in trailer parks are somehow subpar is offensive to a lot of people. Just saying....................

Rage on friend. Rage on. Our take offense culture knows no bounds.

It will not be a tour - it will be "Clean the restroom like a Cast Member Experience" only $25 per restroom and you get a neat name tag sticker and a pair of disposable gloves.

Makes money / saves labor - what is not to like?
You'd be surprised at how much of WDW you can see! Me, last trip I specifically for this purpose brought my cleaning uniform (I clean toilets for real in real life), pinned on the WDW name tag button that I had made at home with just a printer, glue and oval cardboard, and stole a few rolls of toilet paper from the Tangled stalls and then simply walked backstage. Nobody stopped me! I went everywhere, the utilidors, CM cafeteria, the MK 'zoo' (more animal character fur here than in DAK!), cabana land, you name it.

~ $249? Pft. Paid tours are for the unimaginative of mind ~

The Behind The Seeds Tour is, in my opinion, what an 'upcharge' event should be.

Modestly priced, but just enough to keep people who really are interested in the tour. Not a place for fidgety kids.

Offers something of genuine value that builds on the theme of the base attraction hosted by someone who knows the subject and can answer questions.

Doesn't ruin the ride.

If this new 'experience' checks off all these boxes, then it is a win. Perhaps Behind The Seeds pricing would be more appropriate ($20, w/ 15% discount for passholders).

And it MUST not ruin the base safari experience. If it does that, then it is a FAIL, regardless of price...

We've done the Behind the Seeds a few times, and love it. But I guess according to people here, since you actually see the people on the tour from your boat, that it must totally destroy the ride.

Somebody should have stopped you - since actually seeing a live cast member with multiple rolls of TP is as rare as seeing a working Yeti!

Apart form the first half of the ride, LwtL does not try to transport you anywhere but to an experimental greenhouse.

Imagine, by contrast, seeing tourists being guided around Pirates of the Caribbean while you ride. ("We want the wench with the 'Vegas 2014 shirt' for a bride!")

I don't get where all this "seeing the tour ruins the ride" business is coming from. I see the Behind the Seeds people standing by a table as I'm riding LWTL all the time. Doesn't bother me. I see Wild Africa Trek in their jeep or tethered while looking at crocs or hippos while on the Safari. Doesn't bother me. This tour goes to see the elephants. So what?

And so you don't think that even if you spend tens of thousands of dollars on a real safari, that you are never going to see another human being????

It doesn't really bother anyone except those that like to complain about everything. I feel sorry for them, as they must lead totally miserable lives.

Disney itself sometimes spends tens of millions of dollars to ensure the guest only sees ride or land specific elements when immersion requires it. It is the nature of the art.

The safari was originally designed to not allow any visual intrusion. Talented people worked very hard at this. This is why the ride is so good.

And in this case, and others, they have determined that having a separate experience there, where some on the trucks might see them for a minute, does not detract from the over-all attraction for the VAST majority of the riders. Since you seem to be affected, then I guess your choice is to simply not experience that attraction anymore, since the experience is ruined for you. I know that if it was ruined for me, I wouldn't bother to experience it ever again. Seeing a few people here and there affects my enjoyment of the attraction not in the slightest, so I will continue to ride. YMMV.

You know seeing other people in front or behind me in their own boats while on Peter Pan's Flight ruins the ride for me. I'm not immersed in Never Never Land because I can see the other people and all the other boats along a track on the ceiling. Darn it.
