Wow! Does this mean that I finally contributed something to the forums that's more than just filler? It only took me 650+ posts! :hammer:
Yes, PintoColvig, you were a great contribution! I've got a Tinkerbell pin with your name on it! (and one to give to a friend:lookaroun)

To give credit where credit is due, the link below is from ssWEDguy over at Laughingplace. He provided a link to his site that shows the latest in the changes to the new Seas pavilion. Brace yourself merf ;) The mural now has stylized representations of fish from the film (Bruce, Nemo, Dory, Marlin, Ray, and Crush) and the entire pavilion appears to be going to various colors of blue and sea-green as compared to the old sandstone color. At least 3 seagulls can also be seen on the old rock formation. Imo, it looks nice, but they are definetely going for a different look and feel to the outside of the pavilion to match the new interior, which is good in its own way. Enjoy :)

And am I the only who thinsk something is missing between Mr. Ray and Bruce? Like, someone or something belongs there.. or it's just too much blue too close together.

Those are definitely seagulls! :D

Everytime I see major changes like this, I have to remind myself that Epcot is basically a permanent World's Fair, and changes are to be welcomed. I'll miss Sea Base Alpha with its wonderfully cheesy hydrolators, but I'm glad that the pavilion is finally being updated and brought into the 21st century. Things have to progress for Epcot to avoid becoming stale.

P.S. The Nemo characters are tastefully rendered according to Epcot's stylistic theme. Frankly, after all the pixie dust garbage slapped all over everything lately, I was shocked to see such tasteful restraint...and I was very happy. ;)

I wonder what type of plants will end up in the planter directly below the mural.

For years it was "mother-in-laws-tongue" which resembled seaweed or kelp.

Wow... I don't know what to think. My first impression was that it looks very childish. The solid colored silhouettes remind me of pre-school or something. I have to say that they did a good job of positioning the figures in relation to the wave lines behind them. But it really takes away from that futuristic feeling you get in FW. It now seems to be much more for kids rather than an older audience. And the focus of The Seas is now obviously reflected from the exterior- that this is where you find the Nemo characters.

I'm happy that TLS is getting numerous improvements. I'm happy that the ride is reopening and the exterior is getting new coats of paint. But I just wish the nemo characters weren't in your face so much, to the point where they're literally everywhere.

The figures are kid-friendly with their (obviously) smiling silhouettes; but in my opinion, since WDI decided to slap Nemo all over the entrance anyway, these solid-colored figures are much more sophisticated and suited to Epcot's style than the fully illustrated Stitch on SGE at the MK.

I agree entirely. I think it is a little cheesy, but it is not as bad as I thought it could be. I do like the blue wave, though.

At this point, I think the entirely blue pavilion is a bit much. I wish they would have just done the central, corrugated region in blue. But, we'll see how it looks when it's done. It may grow on me.

I've yet to comment on any of this, but I need a support group lmao
I'm 50/50 on the changes to the Living Seas.

I actually welcome the various color scheme choices to the pavilions exterior. New plants and foliage will of course complement it. The steel fence surrounding the sign and water effects will most likely be preserved.

I am ok I guess with the seaguls, new seas sign, and characters. Very eye catching and draws one into a once bland area.

The mural is pretty much there. Many of the lines and schemes have been either simply repainted or in a new color. I MISS THAT DAMN SUN!!!! I wish for some dumb reason they could have kept it but in a differen't color.

I assume the living seas logo is now gone. I'll be shocked if the logo is found anywhere in the pavilion.

The queue area and whatever changes it has gone through I'm ok with. It played such a minor part to seabase alpha in my opinion. I just hope those relics find a good home because they were so unique.

Whatever becomes of the preshow I don't mind.

While sea base alpha is still there, basically under a new color scheme, and the seacabs are being reincarnated, I can't help but feel a =geeky loss for the hyrdrolators. I wish they could have at least kept the ones as you exited. They could have been not only been a fitting tribute but still fun and interesting to all ages with the former seabase alpha theme.

Ok enough of my rant, overall to me its a decent change but I miss the sun and hydrolators! :brick: :hammer:

Does anyone else think that the characters on the mural aren't finished? To me, they seem like they're bases for more faithful recreations of the characters. Or they could be just the first of a few layers to give some depth? The pattern on Crush's shell and the pockmarks on Bruce seem off to me...

The cutouts do almost look a little unfinished. Most of them look presentable, but those odd pockmarks on Bruce do look very unusual, like they're supposed to "hold" something else. You don't suppose they're going to have neon behind them so they "glow," do you?

Maybe they're going to do the metal upon metal "piling up method" that they did to show topography on the continents on the Unisphere at NYWF 64 (which would be rather appropriate).

my feeling is that they are doing sort of what they did to the Imagination exterrior and making it more kid friendly. Epcot is still trying to break away from "the adult park" representation that it still sometime gets. Lets hope that the attraction inside isnt much like what we got in JIYI... but im fairly sure that since there wasnt much where the new attraction is going to begin with, that this will be a awesome addition. I do feel sort of wierd about the kiddie-ness of the facade... but i honestly think it will grow on me. Maybe we are getting a little bit of the proposed "Discoveryland" instead of future world... maybe one day we will see something like project gemini come into fruitation... or then again... maybe its already starting :lookaroun

Can't wait to see what they do with the new canadian film.
I'm just worried we'll see nothing but lumberjacks, dog sled teams, and all sorts of other things I've never personally seen in Canada.
Fingers crossed.
