New bus driver costumes coming in NOV.

Pioneering the Universe Within!
The old shirts didn't bother me so much, but the purple pants were a little garish. If they could have just changed the pants to something a little less...loud, I'd have been happy.

Hmmm...Guess I'm alone on this one. I always liked the old costumes. Gave me that "I'm at Disney" feel.

I agree with this statement in its entirety...the old costumes may have been :hurl: but i only associtaed them with the joy of being at wdw and will feel slightly :( about losing them...

dress code publix

black pants dress pants no jeans, black socks, black shoes a belt undershirt any will work as long as its not showing at the bottom both must be tucked in. and your shirts tucked in they will give you a green publix shirt a spock not star trek a waist spock tied in the back in a bow and a black publix hat winter time a hunter green sweatshirt

no logos and no extra pockets.

sMock, not sPock

I like the old uniforms, It seems that all of the uniforms are becoming more business like in nature. I like the colorful uniforms, it adds to the magic and pagentry that I like to feel when I go to my Magical place. I will miss the color (bring on the drab, dull professional world)

Let`s run the colour makeover to the T&TC as well. Make the concrete jungle one thing or another - not a collection of 1971, 1989 and 2000.

Agreed. The TTC is the first impression that many Guests get of Walt Disney World, and IMO it needs some help.

The entrance complexes for Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and even Tokyo Disneyland are much nicer than the TTC. Taking a page from those would really make the area look nice.

From what I've heard the unions are starting to come down on Disney about hiring CPs since there are so many local people unemployed. It really is a kick in the a$$ to all the locals who if employed by Disney would spend money at Disney in return.

Well, if the locals want to work at WDW so much, what is stopping them from applying? Disney has actually made it much easier now, since it can even be done online. I just went on the site again to see the list of available roles and there are 5 full-time and 9 part-time front-line roles available. Keep in mind that these are the numbers of roles that are being filled in each classification, so the number of actual openings will be considerably higher.

Those locals who want to work at WDW, but aren't yet because they haven't spent the energy on applying only have themselves to blame, not the CPs. After all, a college student who wanted to go on the CP, but didn't apply probably wouldn't go around blaming locals for taking jobs at WDW.

I don't think it's necessarily the number of CPs (but it does factor in) that causes locals not wanting to work. It's the deflated pay and the number of hours they get. Most locations were/have cut hours as much as they can to union minimums (usually 32 or 36) not 40.

But that isn't necessarily limited to WDW or other places with similar programs. Before I went on unpaid leave and was subsequently laid off by the airline where I used to work, I was almost never allowed to work overtime (even if we were short on staff), unless one of our flights was severly late, and even then it wasn't guaranteed. (We were always scheduled 20 hours a week, so the only way to get more hours was through the seldom-given overtime.) Now, in addition to my regular job, I am working in retail and my schedule last week was dropped from 10.5 to 6 hours! Next week, it will be an incredible 9 hours, barring any further adjustments.

I agree. However, Disney hours haven't been expanding in the past few years - in fact they've been cutting them. However, the CP and ICP have grown at an enormous rate. 2 new complexes within 10 years. They have to give those CP hours to someone. They are cutting them from the FT and PT, that now can have trouble getting any hours when in past years they could get as many as they could take.

I can definitely back that up. That's why in the past two summers, more so especially this summer, if it hadn't been me asking around other CM's if they wanted to trade in their shifts or needed a day off or simply asking the managers if they needed any help, I would've had only 2 weeks worth of shifts in a row. It's sad how it's gotten to be the past few years, everyone across the board who isn't CP is getting affected and it's gotten to the point you see more CP's than FT's. You almost never see PT's and Seasonal's anymore, very rarely do you ever.

I agree! I didn't think there was anything wrong with the purple ones. I like things looking "Disney" instead of "real world" porfessional. Why do the Disney drivers need to look like the Mears drivers anyway?

Just last night as I was trying to enjoy a funnel cake at Sleepy Hollow I witnessed a guest walk up to a CP and ask a question about Spectro...her answer was "I don't know...and I don't know how to answer you", and she just walked away from him. You being a Disney CM know that this is not the right answer to give a guest. If this is the track for Disney guest service, Disney really needs to rethink the whole CP because it is not make them look good.

Interesting. I saw something similar to this the other day at MK (Tomorrowland). A guest was asking a young CM about where there was a treehouse and the CM pretty much just said they didn't know and walked away. I was a bit surprised at that. I think EVERY CM should now where every attraction is!!

But, like anything, things change over time and Disney service is not immune to that. I think the downfall of the "legendary Disney service" was when they significantly shortened the Traditions/training for new hires. That signified the direction management was going and little by little new people have the "it's just a job" mentality.
