So with JR spending time on that project in the 50th state and a new VP coming to DAK, do any of the insiders care to shed any light on the possible impact to AK?

Man, you've got a big time crush on '74. What's the matter do you miss him while he's been on vacation.
I think he definitely missed me ... but even though I am back from WDW, I am still 'on vacation' for most of the month and I don't intend to spend it sparring with JT (although I can't help but notice how his opinions change like the wind ... one of his posts on -- I believe -- the F-Land thread seemed to be the exact same thing I have said since I started talking about the staleness of the MK ... anyway ...)
I do know about the power structure at Disney and how jobs are viewed.
And moving from DAK VP to GM of a moderate resort (even the combined PO, which is a huge complex) is a demotion. And, no, she didn't likely ask for it anymore than any of the execs ever ask to be demoted or leave the company to spend time with their families etc ...
I don't know the woman well. I do know that on her watch DAK's Ops have fallen to MK level (internally most folks consistenly will tell you that EPCOT and Studios are run the best by far). Considering she was MK's GM before being promoted into this job, that's not surprising.
I can tell you that DAK has been dirtier on her watch and has more show quality issues than it ever did when Dr. Beth was in charge. Even simple things have been issues ... from the way vehicles are dispatched on Dinosaur (ruining the ending) to the fact the men's room door next to the kennels is rotting away and you could put your put through it to the fact there's more gum on the pavement than I have ever seen to the fact that the only place at WDW I had 'issues' with AC on this trip was in DAK's shops, where it was so hot and sticky I couldn't figure out how this couldn't possibly be hurting business.
So, I'll be glad she's moving to a position where she can do less damage.
This could be a great move depending on who takes over for her, but I'll repeat for the umpteenth time that attraction-wise, nothing new is coming to DAK for years ... that's why Joe Rohde is working on Oahu and HK projects.
To end on a positive, though, I heard a lot of good things about the jobs Dan Cockerell and Rilous Carter are doing running their parks, the latter despite edicts from above to cut hours and entertainment to absurd summer levels.
It really seems like those parks are in good hands right now. If DAK gets someone of quality, then only the Phil 'problem' will still exist at the VP level.
