New 350 room DVC tower coming to Disneyland Hotel

CastAStone

5th gate? Just build a new resort Bob.
They’re selling timeshares for high cost to go to packed parks…IF you can get in.

The actual stunning trajectory of how Bobdom has turned the park trajectory in just 10 years is amazing

It’s a numbers problem…why is the only park project under construction in the US a Moana statue with a garden hoss attached to it?

These are becoming hard realities. And the management has failed to strengthen its core product.
Building literally anything new at WDW still beats late Eisner / early Iger.

I get the disenchantment but I do think this DVC will sell out quickly.

I think the era of Eisner scapegoating has ended…

I know that’s a hard reality for longtime board/forum members…cause they NEVER think the problem is rooted in the present/future…but it was always the truth.

Eisner stayed too long…he developed over 50% of everything in parks…but struggled for the last 5 years

Cause he stayed too long
HINT HINT.

What’s bob? Exactly what he was always going to be. Lead around on a Leash by his stock masters and not inventive.

What has he done since he come back? Sequels…promised a dividend out of nowhere to save his @ss…and more upsells in the parks.

Failed
Leadership

Too long. The past became prologue as expected.

Meh. It's okay. At least the rooms are kind of colorful, instead of boring Irvine Beige and Tasteful Tan.

But the rooms also seem kind of small, and remind me of a new Hilton or Sheraton in a beach tourist area. Not bad, but certainly nothing unique or immersive!

And they're probably cheap because the best view rooms won't have a view of anything except the 1970's hotel towers across from it...

Or the other side of the tower will face the rather gritty flatlands of western Anaheim with views of Greater Stanton.

Here's the street level view looking Southwest from the corner of the new DVC tower. Now imagine how much prettier those Edison power lines will look a few floors up!

Holy mother of God in heaven. Who writes this crap, and how stupid do they think we are?!?

Whoever wrote this, and whatever executive approved it, officially has no shame and/or doesn't know how to use words. :banghead:

"Discover a place where creative inspiration comes to life like never before!"
If only Leonardo DaVinci could have been inspired by this mid-rise timeshare tower, he might have been able to actually do something...

DaVinci Wouldn't Even Know....jpg

"This modern masterpiece celebrates Disney storytelling, animation, and the iconic designs behind it all!"
What are we celebrating in the half of this modern masterpiece that faces west towards Walnut Street and the flatlands of Greater Stanton?

DLR_concept_street.jpg

"Soak up some inspiration at the one-of-a-kind pool and the kid's Steamboat Willie splash area!"
I haven't soaked up inspiration at a basic hotel pool like this since that Pismo Beach Ramada I crashed at back in '04. His name was Derek.

Unfortunately your story is this generic looking vacation timeshare on Walnut Street with decades to come of adjustable-rate maintenance fees.

You Are Here For Decades To Come! So you should probably find a lounge chair....jpg

Wow - the immersion. The word nondescript comes to mind

Not that much of the tower actually looks onto Walnut, well under a third. There's a reason there is a tiered wing coming off the back overlooking the pool. Almost all of the truly 'bad' views will be standard studios, aka they will be priced very accordingly.

Also... this is a Disneyland Hotel DVC, I get some of the complaints about DVC's mid-rise tower trend. This however would have been not befitting of the hotel had it been anything but a midrise tower. I think it also looks nicer than the original towers by a long shot.

Yes it's a nice Marriott with some time share unit size options accordingly. I hate to break it to everyone; the Disneyland Hotel is a nice Marriott. The options in Anaheim are Sheraton and Marriotts, an extremely overpriced (and climbing) near-gate motel, something that is not walkable or a huge outlay for Grand Cal.

I like the look of the new tower; and the splash pad looks so cute!

I have often used the analogy that even at the best option, the Grand Californian, they have customer service that is no better than a random "Airport Sheraton on a good day". In fact, I just searched for that phrase from me in the Search function and found that I first used it in a post here back on April 3, 2013, almost ten years ago! 🤣

I have no allusions that any of the three Disney run hotels in Anaheim offer any sort of truly polished service or high-end vibes (with the lone exception of the Napa Rose dining room). Often, even at the Grand, the customer service is shockingly downscale and very rough around the edges. Way too many details go unattended at Disney's three hotels in Anaheim. And setting aside the Grand Californian lobby and the west and east facing parts of its exterior design, aesthetically all three hotels look and feel like an average Sheraton once you check in.

But to use the type of soaring, and outright dishonest, language that Disney now does to describe this new mid-rise timeshare tower is not a good look for them. In the long term, it cheapens the brand in my opinion.

Just because their ad script called this a "one of a kind pool!" where "creative inspiration comes to life like never before!", that doesn't make it true. It just makes it look like they are lying about their Sheraton-esque swimming pool. :(

I think it fits well with the Disneyland hotel existing theming. 🤷‍♂️

I always enjoy reading your take. It's the only justice given to this overly done overstated insulting corporate talk that overpromises, exaggerates, and underdelivers.

Thank you for the great laughs as always!

Is the near gate motel the Candy Cane Inn? Or is there one I'm missing?

To be blunt: I'm pretty sure you're the one who doesn't understand words.
"Discover a place where creative inspiration comes to life like never before!"
All this says is that its a place that is unique. And, as a Disneyland Hotel DVC has never existed, it is.
"This modern masterpiece celebrates Disney storytelling, animation, and the iconic designs behind it all!"
I mean, lots of things get called masterpieces that aren't. Like almost every Academy Award Best Picture winner. And this only says it 'celebrates' these things - in other words, makes a nod to them. Nothing more.
"Soak up some inspiration at the one-of-a-kind pool and the kid's Steamboat Willie splash area!"
Again, there isn't another pool exactly like this one, so by definition, its 'one of a kind'. The soak up part is just, you know, a joke about water.
"This is a place inspired by stories! And one that will inspire YOUR story for decades to come!"
This is the one you get the BS meter out on. Theres not much of anything thats 'inspired' by any story, except one of making money. 'Decades to come', well, I guess if you buy in for 50 years, sure. Only thing I can say about that is that I'd much rather own here than at WDW.
