oooh, i'm NOT a light travler! i actually try not to be! i guess being in school and having a back-pack that weights probably more than half your own body weight, i kinda get used to carrying stuff around, and i feel kinda weird if i don't have something on my shoulder. so i have a backpack that i throw a bunch of stuff in just to say i've got something on my shoulder (weird, huh?) anyway, i usually carry sunglasses, make-up compact thingy (the FL heat does a number on my face!! though the heat and humidity in KY is MUCH worse!), snap-shot camera, money (i'm a saver too, so usually my money weights me down some...mostly cuz of all the coins i have), hat(s) (sometimes i'll pack 2), and to top it all off....*drum roll please*....my Rick O'Connell action figure! i've taken him with me on my last 3 trips.....and yes, i'm crazy!! lol! i got this bright idea (from someone i met on a Brendan Fraser message board) to take the action figure and take pictures of him at various landmarks...this girl i got the idea from took him to the alamo...my version? Disney World, of course!! and it's become a tradition ever since! i made a website about his adventures...you can find it here
http://www.geocities.com/rick_oconnel_2000 Take a peek if ya got the time! and if ya like, sign my guestbook!!
whoa! didn't mean for this to become an ad for my site! sorry about that! anyway, dad carries the video camera...unfortunately...he's an artist, like myself, so he has to point out every little architectual detail...on camera! but it makes for nice memories. my sister is a diabeteic, so mom packs her shot in a little pack..but she usually drops that off first thing in the morning at first aid.
we take the two way radios too! they're wonderful! but we find LOTS of people have the same idea, of course! if you're thinking of using the radios, and you don't have the private channel (we don't, so i'm not familiar on how those work) use nicknames or names that other people wouldn't use! like, for example, if my mom called me on the radio, and she said 'hey, Amy', like 10 Amy's would say 'yeah, what?' same thing with mom and dad! not a good idea to say those two words on the radio! you'll never find who you're looking for! we use names of characters off of movies or shows. like Buzz and Woody, or Mulder and Scully. it's easier that way....just a little tip from me to you...hope it's helpful to anyone thinking of using the radios on your next trip!!
