what odd item do u guys always bring with u going to a theme park for the day other than the normal hat, sunblock, water etc.

for me its my pen-on-a-string to write things on the map of stuff comes up.

I am able to fit the following into my pack (don't ask me how):

Poncho
Eye-glass case
Extra film
Pen
Room key, id, etc.
Watch
Sunblock

I usually have the hubby carry the camera and we both have water strapped to our persons. With all of the stuff we carry we usually end up losing about 5 lbs a vacation... lol

I, too, travel light. If you're like me and just carry stuff in your pockets, don't forget to bring your driver's license just in case you get carded!

Nothing really, just myself and a smile.

Don't need anything beyond my ticket/one ID/key/sunglasses. Usually don't even take money...

Good idea... I plan on doing this for my next trip. The Motorola TalkAbout radios are great & have a two-mile range. They are great for the kids to go off and do what they want and still be in contact with Mom & Dad.

Just make sure you get the kind that gives you like a private channel because the ones we have pick up everyone at the parks and it's hard to get a word in.

The Motorola TalkAbouts have 14 channels with 38 interference codes (which means if you are listening on a scanner.... you'll hear everything on that channel regardless of the code....BUT, if you using the radio, you have to be on the same channel & code to hear them). THe 14 channels & 38 codes result in over 532 different combinations.

oooh, i'm NOT a light travler! i actually try not to be! i guess being in school and having a back-pack that weights probably more than half your own body weight, i kinda get used to carrying stuff around, and i feel kinda weird if i don't have something on my shoulder. so i have a backpack that i throw a bunch of stuff in just to say i've got something on my shoulder (weird, huh?) anyway, i usually carry sunglasses, make-up compact thingy (the FL heat does a number on my face!! though the heat and humidity in KY is MUCH worse!), snap-shot camera, money (i'm a saver too, so usually my money weights me down some...mostly cuz of all the coins i have), hat(s) (sometimes i'll pack 2), and to top it all off....*drum roll please*....my Rick O'Connell action figure! i've taken him with me on my last 3 trips.....and yes, i'm crazy!! lol! i got this bright idea (from someone i met on a Brendan Fraser message board) to take the action figure and take pictures of him at various landmarks...this girl i got the idea from took him to the alamo...my version? Disney World, of course!! and it's become a tradition ever since! i made a website about his adventures...you can find it here http://www.geocities.com/rick_oconnel_2000 Take a peek if ya got the time! and if ya like, sign my guestbook!!
whoa! didn't mean for this to become an ad for my site! sorry about that! anyway, dad carries the video camera...unfortunately...he's an artist, like myself, so he has to point out every little architectual detail...on camera! but it makes for nice memories. my sister is a diabeteic, so mom packs her shot in a little pack..but she usually drops that off first thing in the morning at first aid.
we take the two way radios too! they're wonderful! but we find LOTS of people have the same idea, of course! if you're thinking of using the radios, and you don't have the private channel (we don't, so i'm not familiar on how those work) use nicknames or names that other people wouldn't use! like, for example, if my mom called me on the radio, and she said 'hey, Amy', like 10 Amy's would say 'yeah, what?' same thing with mom and dad! not a good idea to say those two words on the radio! you'll never find who you're looking for! we use names of characters off of movies or shows. like Buzz and Woody, or Mulder and Scully. it's easier that way....just a little tip from me to you...hope it's helpful to anyone thinking of using the radios on your next trip!!

oh that reminds me of one of my trips!! we got down there and i think we were at the MK getting our tickets into the parks or something and they had to see my mom and dad's license! my dad found out that he had lost his license along the way somewhere! that had never ever happened before! i can't remember if he drove at all on the way home or not! if not, thank goodness my sister had her license, so my mom didn't have to make the whole 12 hour trip home by herself!! but that was a REAL magical day! lol!
