You're lack of knowledge of the SPORT of which I speak is stunning. First of all, you have apparently NEVER been in a Nextel Cup Car, been to a race, known anyone in the business, or worked in the business. How could you POSSIBLY speak with ANY credibility on this issue? And don't try to deflect the blame to the king of street slang, Jim Rome. Never has a radio personality been more over-rated than he. I guess you'd call him an athlete huh?

Again, resist the urge to speak about something of which you have NO, that's NONE, ZIP, ZILCH, NADA knowledge of. Tell you what, when you have put yourself into a 3 1/2 / 4 hour race, experiencing the g forces, heat, pressure, concentration, reaction times of Nextel Cup Race, then give me a call and tell me what you think. Until then......

And by the way, pit stops?!!! Yeah, they last all of 14 seconds. How long does Randy (The Scum Bag) Moss get to take breathers? Oh yeah, that's right, he walks off the field before the game is over. I almost forgot about that. What an athlete.

Oh, and another thing:

Do you actually KNOW any of the drivers in Nextel Cup? Do you know how much most of them train for races? And what type of training they do? Did you know there are several of them who also like to run marathons during the off-season? That most of them lettered in sports during high school and/or college? NO, I guess you wouldn't know that, because you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!

Hennie, just because Triton has never been to a Nascar race doesn't mean he's wrong. How do you define "athlete," anyway? Right now it just seems like everyone is throwing stereotypes around for both arguments, and nothing is getting done.

Also Hennie, in the above posts you made little to no points proving your case. So you've been to more Nascar races than Triton...so what? That doesn't prove anything. I haven't been to an NFL game in eight years, yet I'm sure I know as much about football as people who have gone to ten games this season. Give facts when making your argument, not fourth-grade remarks like "I'm right because you don't know what you're talking about so there!"

And from what everyone is saying about Nascar drivers being athletes, then poker players, cross-country drivers, dart throwers, bowlers, and people who wait in line at Cedar Point could also be classified as athletes. Now I'm not arguing that Nascar drivers are not athletes, and I'm not arguing that Nascar is not a sport. I just want to know where the line is drawn when it comes to "athlete."

*Ends rant, runs away*

On the contrary, I have clearly made my point, by making it known that Triton has NO first hand knowledge of what it takes to be a driver in Nextel Cup. Would you agree that kickers in the NFL are athletes? Do you KNOW how they train, or how much they train? What they go thru to prepare for a game? I personally don't classify people as athletes or non-athletes. What I AM saying is that I believe that it takes athletic ablility to drive in Nextel Cup. Does it take the same kind of training as OTHER sports? NO. Does that somehow lessen it as a sport? NO!!! There are other types of physical requirements for the sport of Nextel Cup Racing.

I can't help that Triton doesn't know what he is talking about. Maybe he shouldn't comment on it, since he doesn't. But when he makes those comments, I have the right to refute them, which I have done.

WOW. Well Indy95 said a lot of what I was going to say but I still have some amo left.

KNOWLEDGE? What is there to know about these Nextel Cup Drivers. Lets see... They're good at making many consecutive left turns, they can sit for three hours (what guy can't do that), they drive fast cars, and sometimes they crash those fast cars. WOW. I think I know everything there is to know about NASCAR. Yes, you are right I have never been to a race, I would rather spare myself the excitment of watching cars fly by. I could go to the local interstate and do that.

As for Jim Rome, he is known by everyone in the radio business as the "King of sports talk radio" and the "king of smack." How could you call him over-rated? His show is aired coast to coast and he makes a lot of money every year because of it. "DO I CONSIDER HIM AN ATHLETE?" What are you talking about? That statement has nothing to do with anything and I don't know exactly where you were going with that one. He's a sports talkshow host-- since when are they athletes?

You keep saying that I know nothing about the NEXTEL Cup. Once Again, Lets see... They're good at making many consecutive left turns, they can sit for three hours (what guy can't do that), they drive fast cars, and sometimes they crash those fast cars. WOW. I think I know everything there is to know about NASCAR.

As for "Randy (Scum Bag) Moss," wow "scum bag" did you think of that all by yourself? Randy Moss is one of the hardest working athletes in sports and as far as I'm concerned he has earned everything on that playing field each and every Sunday.

I don't want to know any of the "NEXTEL CUP" drivers. What makes them so special anyway. Should I actually idolize these people for driving cars really fast, in that case I guess I should idolize highway patrollmen who get into high-speed chases as well. Ok say according to you they work hard, but you never actually said what they do to work hard. You say my arguments are based on little knowledge, someone needs to look in the mirror. Ok so they letter in sports in high school, wow I did as well so I guess I'm well on my way.

Please if you are going to say that I don't know what I'm talking about at least show that you know what you are talking about and not just repeat the phrase "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT."

People waiting in line at Cedar Point? Wow now that's what I call a "smack attack."

First of all some us aren't using this site for free, and do pay a fee for accessing certain things on this site. And while it may indeed be a dictatorship, I certainly also have the right to voice my views, even when they conflict with the majority. Some don't like that, but that's tough.

And freedom of speech is just that. FREEDOM OF SPEECH. When someone speaks out of turn, they should EXPECT to be called on it. If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Alright that's fine to voice your "freedom of speech." That's all fine and dandy, but don't discourage others from joining in the conversation. You did this by saying: If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen. Stop with the worthless cliche's and just speak your mind.

(1) Jim Rome is the KING of Street Slang, and couldn't find a coherent sentence with both hands, and a brain. Of course, that's just my opinion.

(2) Randy Moss is the hardest working scum bag in sports. Do YOU personally watch his workouts? What does he do to prepare for a game? Do YOU have to prove that he works out to be able to call him an athlete?

I'm not sure why I have to provide you with anything regarding the personal workouts of drivers in order to defend their athletic ability. What I DID cite was the FACT that I HAVE BEEN IN A NEXTEL CUP CAR. And that I have experience in a small degree what they go thru during a race. Do you know the g forces that they experience during those races? The stamina and mental strength that it takes to drive for 3/4 hours each Sunday. Not to mention all the practice and qualifying sessions. How about if the power steering goes out? You ever experienced that at 60/70 mph? How about at 150/200 mph. On anything from a half mile 33degree banked oval, to a 2.5 mile road course, to a 2.5 mile superspeedway. Oh yeah, that's right, you've NEVER BEEN TO A RACE OR BEEN IN A RACE CAR.

Have you hever worked out with any of the team members at your gym? Cause I have and have seen the type of strength and cardio work they put in at the gym each week to compete each weekend. Is that enough evidence for you?

Why don't we just drop the arguement? Some say it's a sport, some say it's not. Let's all just agree that some peopel like it, others don't, and move on, shall we?

Ok they get the point I have no first hand knowledge.

I do think that kickers are athletes. They actually have to "work out" to get their kicking leg as strong as possible while still being able to keep their amazing flexibility. See that's another thing: athletes face pressure, just look at how much pressure is placed on a kicker. What pressure is there to be place on a NASCAR "athlete."

Athletic ability to drive a car? Come on. Alright, how about this: the next time I go to WDW i will waiste my time and money by going to that stupid racetrack (which doesn't even belong on WDW) and go to the school of driving and prove that it is sooo easy to do what NASCAR drivers do.

See you are saying that it doesn't take that much physical preperation as that of other sports. So that does, in turn, make it less of a sport because THERE ARE NOT PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS.

Dude, you still insist that I have "no idea what i'm talking about" and you still have shown me nothing.

Are you really not understanding what I am saying or is it just an act with you? I hope for your sake it's an act. Again, if you read my comments you would see proof (why I even need to provide that for you is beyond me), by the way, how old are you?) Just being curious with that question. I'm 38, since you'll ask. Are you kidding me, he has to prepare one leg for kicking? Are you proof-reading what you are writing? That's funny!!! One good leg. I"m sure the great kickers of the NFL would appreciate that one. So they are less of an athlete than say the qb, or others?

Do you always go around offering opinion and commentary on things of which you have no knowledge? And do people take you seriously when you do that? Or do they just laugh like I am doing right now?!!!!

(1) What? Couldn't find a complete sentense with his hands and a brain? Who needs their hands to make a sentence. That doesn't make any sense. SO should I now tie my hands behind my back and say a complete sentence? And who says he's a bad speaker? Whenever I watch Sportscenter and see them interview a NASCAR "athlete" I'd swear that english wasn't even their first language.

(2) Ok I haven't seen him in a weightroom personally but have you ever seen him flex his muscles. Come on, where does he get that from driving in a car? I don't think so.

Ok you have been in a NEXTEL car, congrats, can I have your autograph? Personally, I don't care if you were driving an army tank, driving requires no physical ability. And that thing you said about the power steering going out, that happened to me and I drove my car without power steering for a week, so I guess it isn't that hard.

Ok so you make a banked turn at 150 mph. I'll tell you what I'll give you that one out of sympathy.

Ok so your 38. WOW so I guess I haven't "respected my elders." Anyway, I give up, we are both saying the same things over and over again and it is becoming really stupid. Notice: I did not admit that you are or were right in any aspect. I still sternly (oh I'm sorry is that too big of a word for you ok I just say: strongly) disagree with what you have said.

Note to self: if when I'm 38 and I'm still doing this on these boards GET HELP FAST and GET A LIFE!

I wouldn't either. You didn't HAVE to say I was right, as I have already proven that I am. As for the getting a life part, who started this debate about racers?

OK you two...STOP IT. RIGHT NOW. I call for a moderator to lock this thread down as soon as possible before you two make complete a**** out of yourselves (too late) and get thrown out of this forum.

Hennie-once again your points are BASELESS, POINTLESS, FACTLESS, and are more akin to a second-grade lunchroom argument than an actual debate. You have STILL NOT PROVIDED ANY FACTS WHATSOEVER TO YOUR CASE.

Triton-your anger has BLINDED you in your arguments. You are now just saying whatever pops into your mind just because Hennie is arguing with you.

And Hennie, kickers face much more pressure than Nascar drivers. Kicking a ball 150 feet through an elevated goal to determine whether or not you have a job next year? That's pressure. And by your twisted logic, I've watched more football games than you've seen Nascar races, so I'm smarter than you.

*Runs away again, this time for good...if you two want to keep being eight-year olds you'll have to do it without adults around to stop you*

Again, I ask Indy, how do you KNOW what the drivers face? I'm assuming you have first hand knowledge of this? You've been there, done that? Cause I HAVE!!!!

Ok you're right. Lets stop this foolishness. And just for the record, I did not start this whole NASCAR "tangent" actually look back to my reply to Woody 13 I was actually defending NASCAR. So lets move on and put this behind us.

Dude he wasn't trying to 'knock' you in any way. He was just trying to get us to shut up. So please "shut up." This is so pointless regardless. We obviously aren't going to change eachothers minds and are just waisting our time.

BTW, I quote Socrates "A little first hand knowledge can get you into a lot of trouble and could essentially lead to your own personal demise." Just a little food for thought.

I cant stand when people show their "liverd side"! You are on vacation for crying out loud! Where are you in such a hurry to go?!

I also love when the parents of very small children push and shove. Then everyone wonders why children today have no respect for others, because their parents were raised by wolves maybe. But that would be insulting a wolf.

If parents cant be relaxed on vacation I cant imagine what they act like at home.

I think these arguments have gone too far...and bringing in Woody and saying you all dislike him is hitting a new low. He hasn't even discussed Nascar further and you choose to involve him. I don't know, but please drop it before this gets out of hand!
