Nearly a fight on the Monorail

Disclaimer: I did NOT read all 6pages completely!

Now with that said, we were at Disney12-21-04 through 1-1-05. One afternoon at Epcot I took my daughters to the restroom near Morocco, well woman "A" brought her "seemingly healthy" 14 year old son into the womens restroom. Woman "B" goes crazy, starts screaming about how she has the right to ______ without some crazy woman and her teenage son invading her privacy and ruining her vacation. Woman A goes just as bonkers and starts screaming that its her vacation too and if she doesnt want to lose her son in the mob of people and ruin her trip she can bring him into the restroom. The son looked so embarrased, someone else took off to get a CM and I just grabbed the girls and got the heck out of there.

Second point is this, my sister suffers from Chrons Disease and while at Disney in line for Pirates of the Caribbean, she started to feel really ill, she had to work her way alone, out of the line and there were a few people who were really ticked off about this. Not as ticked off as they would have been if she had either puked on them or s*#@ on them! But people were making snide remarks about healthy people, line jumping etc., although she never tried to get back inline only to get out of line. Point is, some people may look healthy but suffer from diseases that can cause ailments to hit like a tornado...no notice, no prior warning, no way to know, gee...in 30 minutes I am going to feel like crap, I better just sit this one out. I'd rather have someone trying to jump out of line than to have one person run up, get in line and then have 18 more people walk up 10 minutes later "to join there group". but thats just my two cents...

Once again, Woody13 shows his disdain for us all, and his ignorance. And no, labeling people as you do isn't all in fun Woody. It's rude, narrow-minded, and ignorant.

Stop it Hennie. Just stop it.

First off, I'd like to say I completely agree with TRITON4ME. Second of all, I personally think they should stop NASCAR. Why you ask? Well, if we have a fossil fuel shortage, then why are they wasting gas on driving 500 miles in a circle...?

What about all the "wasted" gas used for football, baseball, basketball, etc. teams to travel all over the country to their games?

I don't like many sports, but I don't bad mouth them and talk about how stupid they are. Please respect that there are many NASCAR fans here who don't appreciate all this negativity towards our favorite sport (and yes it is a sport).

Those of you who don't think it's a sport, obviously don't know much about it and all the training it takes. Like I said earlier, if you can easily drive an ill-handling car for 500 miles, without potty or snack brakes, at speeds at or near 200 mph, in well over 100 degrees of heat with no A/C, while battling 42 other cars, without being in shape or athletic, then you must be some sort of superman. Racing drains you mentally and physically. These guys have the longest season of any sport, going nearly year round. It starts in February and runs through November. By January they're out testing and practicing, giving them one month "off". Once you've done this for just one season (I mean really worked the schedule of a driver or crew member), come back and tell me it's not a sport.

My pet peeve is the last-minute parade people.

When the Main Street Electrical Parade returned in 1999, i staked our spot shortly after 7 o'clock for a 9 p-m parade (back when the parade times were 9 and 11 and the parks were open LATE!)

So we have this spot, and of course, 10 minutes before the parade, this family comes up and tries to camp on top of my two boys. I was about to level the guy, but my wife convinced me the boys could still see.

So I'm standing there to see the greatest parade in the world, furious at the people in front of me.

If you're not willing to invest the time to get a good spot, YOU DON'T DESERVE ONE! I really don't care that your kids want to see it, too. You should have invested the time.

Ok, first of all the thing about the fuel doesn't really matter. As Bill Nye says in UOE "We have enough oil to last about 200 years" So not to worry.

Anyway, you know your stuff that's for sure. Congrats. you just kicked my a@@ in this arguement. You haven't changed my mind on NASCAR, i still dislike it, but you really gave A LOT of very good arguments to support yourself. Nice JOB.

Way too many people seem to "check their brain" when they go on vacation. It really sucks because their attitudes can totally ruin other people's vacations. I swear some people are just un-courteous no matter where they are though.

AMEN! It was just as bad for us this past trip during the holidays. We actually had this middle aged (50-60) couple walk up and try to push the stroller back enough to get some curb space. A CM happened to see what they were doing and made them move. I guess some people feel they are entitled to ride the rides and grab the top spots for the parades. us regular folks just have to grab our curb and hold on tight :)

I do not tolerate people who cut in line.

Now will I fight them down? No.. Maybe because 1 person isn't worth my WDW AP..
End of my post

well said, CEO. it's not too often that i have to put up with line cutters myself, but it's some guests who become rude to CM's (i'm a Cast Member myself) that gets me totally enraged, but i would never fight a guest (even if they do the unthinkable act of physically attacking a CM, i have to retreat and let security "defend the CM"). it's not worth losing my job because i went into "Double Dragon / Final Fight / Streets of Rage" mode on an irate guest who slapped a character greeter in the face just because they were last in line to see Mickey Mouse at epcot

p.s. the references to both Double Dragon, Final Fight and Streets of Rage were meant to be used in this post (i always wanted to put in a "mini-homage" for 3 of my all-time favorite side-scrolling beat 'em up games)

i just hate the stroller rammers...those families with strollers who are mowing down others during a last minute dash for the monorail after the fireworks. Nothing hurts as bad as a stroller in the achillies tendon. what make it worse is they look at you like its YOUR fault for having to stop when the line does :zipit:

They're NOT Athletes?

Let me get this straight:

Nextel Cup Drivers AREN'T Athletes?

Let's see: Do they get to sit on the sidelines to take "breathers?" NO

Are there any time outs? NO

Triton: HAVE YOU ACTUALLY EVER BEEN IN A NEXTEL CUP CAR? Because I have. I have family members who have driven them, and I have actually worked in Nascar at one time. Allow me to tell you that they are MOST DEFINITELY ATHLETES.

UNLESS YOU'VE DONE IT, DON'T SPEAK ON IT!!! Spare me your UNINFORMED COMMENTS.

As for stopping with my comments regarding a certain someone's ignorance, may I say this. IT'S A FREE COUNTRY. FEEL FREE TO MOVE TO ANOTHER THREAD IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU ARE READING HERE.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Ok, first of all:
Breathers from what? They're sitting in a friggin car not running up and down a football field. That's aweful. So they take 500 laps of 2000 left turns, who cares? If you ever listen to Jim Rome you will know what I am talking about. He calls NASRCAR "NECK-CAR" (his words not mine) I personally don't agree with that statement but if you ever listen to his radio show you will realize that it is all in good clean fun.

Time out's: Yeah there are time outs in NASCAR. I think they are called pit-stoppes.

Most definately athelets? COME ON. That is absoulutely rediculous. If you call all members of NASCAR "athletes" then wouldn't you call anyone who drives on the highway an athlete? Seriously, there is absoulely no difference between people who drive for 8 straight hours on a highway than to NASCAR "athletes."

Athletes actually have to work hard in a gym or weightroom in preparation for their events. In other words, they actually have to be in good physical shape to participate. What do NASCAR "athletes" do? Go to a bar and pound a couple beers the night before a race?

Anyway, that is my opinion and I expect a reply back soon defending your comments.

Let's get some things clear here first.

While I'm sure Steve is a fan of the great old U.S.A. and the fact that it's heavily based on "Freedom of Speech" as granted by our Constitution, the site AND the internet itself is not the property of America. Or any country for that matter. While the government and others have the right to oversee it, it's still a private business, with very different rules and procedures as set forth by the owner(s).

At best, WDWMagic is a dictatorship, owned by Steve, and maintained by the rest of the moderators. What they say goes, because they're paying the bills. Not the county. Not what some outside document says.

As a site owner and an administrator at some fairly large message boards, people assume a lot of things. It's amazing how people use that clause (Freedom of Speech) so many times when they are arguing on the internet. I just hope that everyone remembers that we are essentially using this site for FREE. All of this isn't without cost. We should thank the staff for their work and dedication.

First of all some us aren't using this site for free, and do pay a fee for accessing certain things on this site. And while it may indeed be a dictatorship, I certainly also have the right to voice my views, even when they conflict with the majority. Some don't like that, but that's tough.

And freedom of speech is just that. FREEDOM OF SPEECH. When someone speaks out of turn, they should EXPECT to be called on it. If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen.

OH Triton

You're lack of knowledge of the SPORT of which I speak is stunning. First of all, you have apparently NEVER been in a Nextel Cup Car, been to a race, known anyone in the business, or worked in the business. How could you POSSIBLY speak with ANY credibility on this issue? And don't try to deflect the blame to the king of street slang, Jim Rome. Never has a radio personality been more over-rated than he. I guess you'd call him an athlete huh?

Again, resist the urge to speak about something of which you have NO, that's NONE, ZIP, ZILCH, NADA knowledge of. Tell you what, when you have put yourself into a 3 1/2 / 4 hour race, experiencing the g forces, heat, pressure, concentration, reaction times of Nextel Cup Race, then give me a call and tell me what you think. Until then......

And by the way, pit stops?!!! Yeah, they last all of 14 seconds. How long does Randy (The Scum Bag) Moss get to take breathers? Oh yeah, that's right, he walks off the field before the game is over. I almost forgot about that. What an athlete.

Oh, and another thing:

Do you actually KNOW any of the drivers in Nextel Cup? Do you know how much most of them train for races? And what type of training they do? Did you know there are several of them who also like to run marathons during the off-season? That most of them lettered in sports during high school and/or college? NO, I guess you wouldn't know that, because you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!

Riot

I tried to start a riot in Sept. It was after Wishes at MK. My family was in line for an AKL bus. It took forever to come. The line was outrageous behind us--a lot of families with tired little toddlers sleeping on their parents shoulders. Then these two IGNORANT, RUDE, childless couples decided they were too good to wait in line, and walked right up beside me family, and were trying to cut in between my daughter and I. I told one man that the line went WAY back, and he just scoffed at me & continued pushing his way in. I turned around and yelled to the crowd behind me "These ignorant people are cutting in front of you!!" The one couple shimmied to the back of the line, but the above mentioned man (@30 yrs old) just smiled at me. When the bus finally arrived, actually 2 at the same time, we went on the second bus. A moment later, the rude guy comes on my bus, and his hoochie-mamma girlfriend sat right across from us. He told his 'ho' "You WOULD have to sit right next to HER". I glared at him the entire trip, and made loud comments about how rude some people are. My husband told me I had better learn to keep my mouth shut b/c there are a lot of crazy people out there with weapons!! I just couldn't help myself!!

Well Diane, while I applaud your efforts, as I would have done the same thing. I believe your Husband also had a point. Fact is, most people who act like this are prone to violence and other types of abhorrent behavior. (Randy Moss). And when you make comments to them, they're too ignorant to know how to respond, or to even take them to heart. Because for them, it's all about them, and no one, or anything else exists in the world except them. I see this all the time in society these days. It's very sad, but good for you for trying. Keep it up!!!

Almost Forgot--Another One

Almost forgot--a few years ago, my daughter and I took the lazy river at Blizzard Beach. She was only 3 at the time, so she was laying on me. Ahead of us was this Dad & his son. The Dad was reading a newspaper as he floated. The boy (@7) started splashing all over the place like a lunatic. When he made a tidal wave which choked my daughter, I said "Whoa there!!" The Dad looked up, and said "What's the problem?" I said, "Your boy just splashed my daughter pretty hard" then he says "Well, you don't have to yell at him" I said "Well, if you were WATCHING you son instead of reading your paper, you would have seen what he did--You're not the only one on vacation here buddy--watch your kid!!" Boy, was I HOT!!!
