Nearly a fight on the Monorail

I remember once at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, me and 5 friends were all trying to get back together in line, with some inbetween guests. All day long, a bunch of teenagers during band competitions had been doing the same thing to cut in line. So this one guy started giving us grief, and we offered for him and his party to go ahead of us all. To wit, he refused but kept on commenting. Again, we politely offer him the opportunity to go ahread of us, and he refused.

After the third time, my friend Jim turned around and asked him what he'd like us to do, how it could be made right, because we werent trying to cut in line ahead of him and we were more than willing to let him go around us if that would make his day better. At that point he shut up and we insisted that he go ahead of us. But this guy was ready to start a fight because we had the audacity to be nice to him and suggest that he go in front of us, so he wouldnt feel slighted or cheated.

Im sure the same thing happens at Disney all the time...

When I was young and at WDW with my family, some kid pushed my mother to get onto the monorail and she fell up to her waist between the train and the platform!

Wow, you're mom must be pretty darn skinny to fit through that paper-thin crack...

I've seen many things at the parks that were not pleasent, like when some lady took her belt off and hit her son with it. As I was going to get someone security popped out of nowhere and took care of her.
On a side note-What is with people who can't sit through the last few minutes of a show? We went to see Disney on Ice this past weekend and right at the end of the show, before the big finale, this family a few rows in front of us jumped up to rush out. I thought the kids that they were climbing over were going to burst into tears.

Yea, I hate that, too. I'm hardly ever in a rush at Disney, unless it involves goign to a park or show or whatnot. But last time during Fantasmic!, my dad insisted we left early. :(

People that fight tend to have low self esteem. Mac users and Nascar fans top the list.

*Note to self...check police reports to see if any were DVC owners..*

Actually I think that Nascar fans would be like "come on in the monorail, the more the merrier...Let's all get along!" A common mistake is that Nascar fans are agressive, but for as many people who attend those races everyone gets along really well.

I agree! I was just having a little fun with the Mac users and the NASCAR fans and the DVC members.

*Note to self, check the brakes on my car before going anywhere tomorrow.*

Last week, I was on a monorail and a fight nearly broke out in our car.
It was after Illuminations and everyone packed into the monorail. Some lady came with her kids and a stroller and tried to shove her way on.
I didn't see who she shoved first but someone fell over on to and older guy sitting down. They started yelling to the lady to get off the monorail and the guy was really upset. He told the monorail cast member nearby to hold the train because he wanted to press charges, but the guy's wife talked him down.
The monorail cast member made the lady and her kids get off and wait for the next monorail.
The next day, I happened to talk to the driver and he said he never saw anything like it.

I was shocked at something like this happening at Disney!

People are nuts! It's amazing how people could be in such a happy place and still hate eachothers like a bunch of New Yorkers. (thats not a slam on New York) I'll admit I have gotten angry before at WDW but I always harnessed my anger because nothing good can possiblily happen if you "go off" on someone.

Personally, I think the problem lies on both sides in this situation. First, the lady shouldn't have been so "reckless" with her stoller and should have not use it was a weapon to clear a path. On the other hand: PRESS CHARGES? COME ON. That is rediculous. Unless, the dude was seriously hurt in the situation he has no right to hold up the monorail like that. Thank God for his wife.

Ok now it's story time:
A similar thing happened to me. We were trying to get into the 10:30 showing of Fantasmic! and it was a really busy day so the line was really backed up to get in so we were towards the back and we were told that we would have to stand. No big deal right. So we get into the standing section and we are all elbow to elbow and people were pushing for space and someone accidentially bumped my dad into another dude and he stepped on his foot my accident. Well my dad said he was sorry but the dude actually said: "touch me again and we're going to throw down." Well, obviously this dude had a little bit of an aggression problem so my dad just peacefully said "are you serious?" The DUDE was serious. So as I saw this happening both me and my uncle stepped to my dads side to make sure this idiot didn't make something of such a stupid situation. Well once me and my uncle came over the dude realized that we had his back and walked away to another spot in the standing section.

That's True. As much as I hate NASCAR! BTW: it is NOT A SPORT:snore: .

Although, I really dislike it, the fans of NASCAR are all very nice. Most of them are from the south (not a stereotype) and people of the south have the tendency to be very inviting and are quite friendly and nice people. So please Woody, stop with the stupid stereotypes that aren't true.

BTW: If you want to see aweful people go to a Wisconsin football game and root for the opposing team. Ok heres the story: My cousin two years ago went to the Wisc. vs. Ohio State football game. So he and three of his friends went up to Madison dressed in OSU gear. As they walked to the stadium for the game, people were throwing full open beer cans at them and one hit my cousins friend just above his eye and cut his eyebrow pretty bad. Well here's the kicker of the story: my cousin goes to the campus policeman and aked him to help him out, he WOULDN'T DO IT! Now that is just rediculous. And then after the game they (cousins friends) were walking to my cousins car and a bunch of idiot Wisconsin fans surrounded his car and wouldn't let them into it. One guy even went so far as to pull a pocket knife and threaten my cousin with it if he tried to get into the car.

Now I realize that not all Wisconsin fans are like this, but that was the worst display of idiotic behavior I have ever heard of.

I know I got a little off topic here but I had to tell this aweful story.

Woody wasn't being mean, I think he was joking. I take more offense to people claiming that NASCAR isn't a sport just because they dislike it. You try driving an ill handling car (sometimes with no power steering) for 500 miles in temperatures well over 100, while battling 42 other cars and then tell me it's not a sport. These guys have to be in shape, no questions asked. They also, very much have teams, both at the track and behind the scenes. From the guy who builds the engines, to the guy who drives the transporter, to the guy who changes the tires on race day. I could go on... Anyways, NASCAR is as much a sport as golf, baseball, basketball, football, etc. I happen to hate golf, but that doesn't mean that I don't think it's a real sport. Just because you dislike sports like NASCAR it doesn't mean that it's not a sport, just not one that you particularly like, which is okay. Not every sport is for everyone.

While NASCAR was once mainly in the south, it is becoming more and more dispersed. The fans are now spread all over and there aren't too many of "the good ol' boys" left. This is the reason that we're seeing more and more newer tracks popping up all over the country, and the older traditional tracks are slowly disappearing. The Nextel cup no longer uses Rockingham to make sure tracks like Texas and California can get second dates. Darlington lost its historic race to California (which is why I'll never even try to go to California's labor day race. That race belongs to Darlington) and I fear its days are numbered too. New tracks in the south can't get dates, yet new tracks elsewhere can. There are still many southern fans, but there are also many fans that aren't from the south.

*Ends rant and thread drift.

Once again, Woody13 shows his disdain for us all, and his ignorance. And no, labeling people as you do isn't all in fun Woody. It's rude, narrow-minded, and ignorant.

I knew Woody was joking as well. Hence my smilie faces in my response explaining Nascar fans. I truly wanted to add some humor before someone took it seriously and got on a different perspective. :)

Yes, your husband did cut in line. Once you are in line, you must stay in line. If you leave (for whatever reason) you have lost your place in line and if you desire to return to the line, then you go to the end. You can't "save" a place in line.

Well true but at Seaworld once i went to get a drink because I was really dehydrated. The seven others in my part waited in the queue for Atlantis. The drinks queue was huge. So when I went back through the line to meet them they were nearly at the ride! I only did it because I was dehydrated though, I don't make a habit of it! Weird, no one said even a word, I was only 15, but lots of appeasing people in Florida!

I'm as humorous a guy as you'll find, but I find it a bit tiring when all of the media, and a large segment of the population somehow seem to think that Nascar fans are dumb hillbilly rednecks. Well, let me tell you something: If that's the way someone feels about us, Thanks. We helped the President win reelection, and we LOVE a sport with one of the largest TV contracts in sports, not to mention clean athletes who DON'T need to juice up for competition, (Barry "steroids" Bonds), don't have to show their ###es during competition, (that classless Randy Moss), and has better competition than the horrible to watch NBA. And did I mention, it's the fastest growing sport in AMERICA, and second ONLY to the NFL? Not for long the way the NFL is going either.

So, I tell you what guys, keep right on insulting us. Cause if we're that backwards and stupid, given all that WE have accomplished, then what does that make the rest of you?

Hey, it's all in fun right?

HaHaHa!!!!

That's us Nascar fans laughing all the way to the bank.

Wait, they're paying you to be fans?! It's starting to make sense now.... :p

Anyway, as for the topic - I was threatened many times while working - people said they'd "have my job", be waiting for me in the parking lot, etc. Someone once tried to throw their stroller at me (well, the DID throw it, but I was on the other side of a wall with a window in it, so it was even more stupid than it sounds at first.)

My favorite is the lady who threatened to "expose" Disney to the media regarding Fantasmic...:
Me: (at GR podium) How can I help you?
Crazy Lady (CL): (Screaming) I want to see a manager!!
Me: I can help you with...
CL: Are you a manager?!
Me: I'm empowered to do anything a manager can do.
CL: Can you get me into Fantasmic?
Me: It's 9:15 - the show is more than half over.
CL: That's my point...we went there when the show started at nine, and they wouldn't let us in!
Me: The theater was full at about 8:15 tonight, ma'am. I'm sorry you couldn't get in, but we do advise you to get there early to..
CL: I know!! That's what THEY said!! How the HELL are we supposed to know that!!?!
Me: It's mentioned a few times in the guidemap...
CL: Where!?
Me: ...and our Cast Members usually let you know about the wait there as well. (Shows CL guide map)
CL: (irate) I know a lot of people in the media in this town, and I will EPOSE DISNEY to them..
Me: I think people in this town know about Disney.
CL:... And I'll let them know about this Fantasmic crap!!...
Me: I think they're aware of Fantasmic, too. And I need to ask you to watch your language, as there are children in the park.
CL: (Basically continues to babble on her way out of the park about making sure the media knows about the way we treat people...I never did see that expose' on tv...)

Oh, and to add my 2 cents about line jumping, I have to second whoever said that there are a million rationalizations for getting out of line "for a miute", but it doesn't make it right. Just because you know you're sick, or dehydrated, or whatever, doesn't mean that EVERYONE behind you (in a 2 hour line, that's a lot of people) know that, or understand, or even care. I know "stuff happens" and it's unfortunate, but that doesn't make you special, or the people around you more understanding. I'm that person who will purposely get in the way of people who are trying to meet up with their party. If you need to be with them so bad, they should have waited for you. And if you're so sick you need to get out of line half way through, maybe you should be at a doctor, not a theme park. Or go to GR and ask for a "wait outside the line" pass (I am completely blanking on their correct name) so you can leave part of your party out of line legally, to go to the bathroom, sit on a bench, whatever.

Ok, first of all, I dislike NASCAR but I still respect all of those who support it. I really don't understand why people call those who watch NASCAR "red-necks"? It just doesn't make much sense to me.

Now on a side note: NASCAR is not a sport. NASCAR does not require any athletic ability at all. If you call NASCAR drivers athletes, then you might as well call rush hour drivers athletes as well.

Now I know what you are going to say: "in NASCAR they drive at much faster speeds, which requires fast judgement and keen vision" --- Well here's what I have to say to that: driving fast doesn't require much skill. There is a state route by my apartment and I have gone out once at 3 in the mourning and pushed by car all the way to 165 MPH. It didn't seem like much to me!

Also, I respect all of those facts about NASCAR's growth over the past few years. I think it is espeically great for corporate sponsors because it gives them another outlet to go to.

ONCE AGAIN: THEY ARE NOT ATHLETES! TO SAY THAT THEY ARE IS AN INSULT TO ALL OTHER ATHLETES THAT ACTUALLY HAVE TO WORK HARD TO WHERE THEY GET. (NOT JUST DRIVE A CAR)

With all due respect, people who take offense at every single joke makes posting here a pain (a reason why I left another Disney site's message boards, as well as others regarding different interests). Lighten up. The internet is full of people making cracks on one another and various topics... if Woody was a bit more malicious in his reply I would buy into it, but he's simply making a joke.

Personally, I would love for an option to mark replies/topics as a joke when posting, so that individuals who might take offense would have the ignore feature on for that genre of posts. To each his own I suppose.

First off, I'd like to say I completely agree with TRITON4ME. Second of all, I personally think they should stop NASCAR. Why you ask? Well, if we have a fossil fuel shortage, then why are they wasting gas on driving 500 miles in a circle...?
