NASCAR in WDW? It Can’t Get Any Better Than This-A February 2012 Unexpected Trip…Report!

Intro:
Welcome everyone to this unexpected trip report!!! As you may have read in my pre-trip report, this trip was made 11 days prior to leaving due to me getting an interview for a job down in Walt Disney World!!! It was for a part-time attraction job, but I’ll get into more details when we get to that part of the trip.

So here are the details:

The cast:
Me and my mum Diane (LuvsTheMouse). This is a picture from our Sept/Oct 2011 Trip

We are both Disney lovers and our 14th trip together! And Mom’s 15th she went once when she was a kid.

The dates: January 31-February 4, 2012

The resort: Port Orleans French Quarter

The interview stuff was really interesting! I applied back in '10 but if I'd gotten the job they would have wanted me to start work when I'd have been on my trip with the girls... no go! Hopefully you get good news - though didn't you just snag a "real person" job?

SO MUCH TOWER LOVE. Just way too upsetting that I wasn't there.. fam heads out in 5 days, and you know that Carly is not going to be nice about how much fun she had on my Tower.

Thanks for the sweet updates, keep being a crazy stalker and train your butt off for TOT!

Ya that would definitely have been a no go! We'll see if Disney ends up calling me, but yes I did just snag a "real person" job! Just got an offer yesterday and accepted for a Mechanical Engineering job 15 minutes away from my house! So, if Disney calls, I guess I'll have to end up declining. It'll be nice to get experience for a few years for what I went to school for. I still want to move to FL eventually, so having experience will make it much easier moving down there, because I'll have options. I start next Thursday!

ALWAYS needs to be so much Tower love I'm glad I can share my love for the Tower with others! Awww no! That is NOT a nice sister!

And thank you! But actually just this week, I received a call from a company not far from where I live, and they offered me a position which I took! So looks like FL will have to wait a bit now. At least I'll get experience in my field and then maybe become an Imagineer!

I know, I guess they just pick and choose. He actually answers quite a few people, he is one of the only celebrities I've seen answering people..actually NASCAR is HUGE on the social media aspect, alot of their drivers and media people answer fans. It's awesome. I wish other sports/celebrities took a note out of NASCAR's book for twitter and interacting with fans.

POFQ is sooooo nice. I hope you get to stay there!!!!!

Bob is truly a great performer, for young and all. I cannot wait to see him again in September, we will be staying at Riverside then as well.

Glad I could help you out! Characters in Flight is definitely worth it I hope you enjoy it! Just me mindful of the weather, because we went back to DTD on Friday, and I wanted to do it again when it got dark, but it was closed all day due to high winds at it's highest altitude. And also when the weather isn't great it doesn't go up. So I suggest planning around that.

Hi Holly!!! :wave: Thanks! It was great to see you too you!! (and Brett of course ) Vinyl trading is definitely alot of fun, I was lucky to end up with ones I wanted! And thanks! so glad i finally saw this trip report and got a chance to read it. its so funny reading your report now because i see that we took a lot of similar pictures. and you even have a picture of yourself popping out from behind a tree. :lol: great trip report! very cool to hear about your experience interviewing for a job with disney. like many people on here, i also dream of working at wdw someday. i'm sad to hear that you won't be working at disney but congrats on getting a job in the "real world"! i hope you are enjoying it! as i sit here at my "real world" job reading trip reports to pass the time i wish i had a more magical job at wdw. :lol: thanks so much for sharing your short trip with us! good luck with the training for the tot 10 miler! so jealous of everyone who is going!!

:sohappy: Thanks Shelley for finding it and reading my report!!!!! Of course I always think of you when I see the Wedding Pavilion now! I loooove POFQ and can't wait to stay there again in November! We'll be staying at Riverside for the race in Sept.

And of course I'll gladly do it with you!!! If we have a chance in September we can definitely do it! If not, we plan on going back for a week in Nov to see the Christmas decorations (since it's been awhile) we are planning on bringing my grandparents with us as well. So we can do it then too! Can't wait to see Characters in Flight at night! If the views were amazing during the day, I can only imagine at night!

It was a great experience interviewing with Disney and I definitely don't regret it. And thank you! It's a job, its nice that it's close to home and I have weekends off for a change (at the job I had previously at a hot dog stand i worked weekends for 5 years lol) Eventually I would love to move down to FL and work for Disney, and it will be good since I will have had the engineering experience up here in MA that way I could maybe be an Imagineer! (my dream job).

Thank you! I'll need all the luck I need for the 10-miler :lol: Training isn't too bad so far. Running a 10K in June so I can submit a time for the race in September. Wish you could join tooo!!!!!
