NASCAR 2014

Oh dear . . . just read some news from ABC Sports that the # 24 (Jeff Gordon) "might" have to retire, due to his painful back problems, that have plagued him for years now. He's still trying to work through this, and I hope for the best. At 42, the talented, 4-time NASCAR champion driver (handsome too!), has more years of racing ahead of him. I pray that first, he feels better for himself, (no one should have to endure back pain), and second, that his career will continue for him and his fans.

In his press conference this week, Gordon said his back is feeling better this week. When asked about retirement, he said IF he had back pain like he had at Charlotte week after week then he'd retire. Even with a bad back Gordon led laps at Charlotte and finished 7th. He currently leads in the points standings and has one win this season.

I don't see him going anywhere unless it was absolutely crippling and even then most drivers still want to be in their cars. :)
True, but Chase Elliot is going to need a ride in 2016. I don't think Hendrick would force Jeff out of the 24 car, but does he give up the seat to keep Elliot at HMS?( Gordon is a part owner of HMS and has said publicly that after his driving career is over he will be involved with HMS management). Or, does Elliot get Kasey Kahne's seat? Kahne has been the weakest performer of the HMS cars lately.

Yah, I'll miss DW's "boogity, boogity, boogity!" and race commentary, as well as the others that appear with him. They provide good coverage.

Thought it was interesting today when they had a tribute to all their cameramen. Behind the scenes is always so fascinating; that's a large group that films the races.

And now we get the sub standard TNT coverage for 6 races.

Probably a lame question here (I have no background in broadcasting), but why do they keep switching networks each season? I mean, in other sports, usually there's one network that will carry the games for a full season.
Money money money. Starting next year the races will all be on FOX and NBC networks. So byebye ESPN/TNT. (Thank goodness!) Unfortunately for me, I don't get FoxSports1 or NBCSN so I'll be finding somewhere to watch or just following Live Leaderboard on Nascar.com.

Oh that's interesting—so, in other words, the regular local Fox networks and the regular NBC network won't be covering the races? Hmm. I do get FoxSports 1 on my satellite, but I don't know if NBCSN is on it. I'll be bummed if I can only see half the races next season. :(

It's kinda split half/half (FOX/NBC and FOXSports1/NBCSN) if I remember correctly. The FOX schedule really didn't change that much.
