Mystery Project at Epcot

Phineas and Ferb has since been cancelled on Disney Channel, with new episodes only appearing on Disney XD. The Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure did premiere years after that show had ended production however. The television characters never seem to have much of an enduring appeal after their series run. Look what happened to The Disney Afternoon shows that we're featured at Mickey's Birthdayland/Starland. That's not to say that Ducktales and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers wouldn't appeal to the Disney fans that grew up with them, but the current audience would be lost in lands and attractions dedicated to them.
DuckTales wasn't invented whole cloth though: Scrooge McDuck, Duckburg and that whole setting go all the way back to the comics of the 40s. Duckburg and Mickey's home of Mouseton are the real homes of the Disney characters, not Toontown.

I always thought of them like "boroughs" within Toontown.

Can we stay on topic please?
Geez. Okay.

There's a generally named project on some guy's portfolio and no one knows what it is. Nothing new has really come about. It could be Soarin', it could be Imagination, it could be Frozen. We just don't know.

Well everyone can bicker on about Toy Story Playland for days on end, but you finally bring up something about Epcot and all people want to do is change the subject...

Toontown in general isn't that much of a good setting for Disney characters on their own. Foxxfurr of Passport to Dreams Old and New did a pretty good breakdown on why Toontown is much more of a crossover setting and one that's much more based in the old Max Fleschier studios then either Disney or Warner Bros.

So this 6+ month old thread got a bump, is there any new news here? I assumed since the guy in question works primarily on films it either had something to do with the new movie for Soarin or maybe a ride/intro movie for FrozenMaelstrom. Is there some new rumor out there now? It would be nice if EPCOT got something new before 2020 (besides those 2 things).

But Epcot doesn't need the help because it makes money on Food & Wine and Flower & Garden ;)

But yes, updates to all of those would be nice and very welcome.

They can also work on fixing the mess of a paint job they did. Some of it isn't bad, but some of it really really is.

While I know some had suggested Rees was going to work on a new film for Imagination (replacing Eo), at this point isn't it likely that the "mystery project" is the new Soarin' film?
