Journey Into your Imagination with Figment is considered by Disney a slow ride. I always considered that a omni mover. I guess I am wrong. I do understand that Captain EO is in a theatre formally showing HISTA. And prior going into HISTA/EO there was the Kodak film.

An Omni Mover is just basically all the ride vehicles are connected together, when the ride vehicles move, they all go and when it stops, they all stop. Nothing independent in their movement.

Well, it doesn't really matter what you call it. If it's not a modified, omni-mover, then what is it called. However, to answer the question originally asked (which wasn't what's the name of the ride vehicle), No, the theater and the ride were two separate entrances. Now, like many of us, you probably went from the theater, around the corner to the ride and doing so probably made it seem like one automatically flowed into the other, but, it didn't.

Thank you. Originally, was the Kodak film there?

I believe you are talking about the preshow movie which was by Kodak but was on the other side of the attraction from the 3D/4D theater.

But even that Kodak movie wasn't directly connected to the ride, right? I don't think Imagination ever had a setup like (say) Energy where you did the pre-show and then went onto the ride. They were independent attractions.

Exactly! Same big building, two entrances and two separate attractions. One was not connected in anyway, including story line. The original 3D movie was called "Magic Journey" (Pre-EO) and the preshow was another Kodak sponsored movie called "Making Memories".

I had to look that up (Magic Journeys) on You Tube. I vaguely remember that film. That was shown where EO is now and HISTA was?

Wasn't there originally an entrance directly into the theater from the unload area of Journey into Imagination (original, back when Magic Journeys was the film in question)? Seems like this was closed off with HISTA, since it would have allowed you to bypass much of the queue for the movie. I might be remembering this slightly wrong, but it seems like you could enter the theater from the ride (but not the other way around).

You know, my memory of those things is pretty sketchy, but, I think you could enter Image Works directly from the ride. In fact, I think you had too! But I could be wrong on that. I don't remember ever being able to go from the ride to the movie though.

I believe from 82 till 99 there was a way to access the Magic Eye Theater from the upstairs Imageworks. Since JIYI you had to exit the building to access the Magic Eye.

I wish it was that simple. But leaving Disney to "sponsor" it's own attractions is what gives us The Seas with Nemo, an empty Wonders of Life, Imagination being stuck in suck mode, UoE requiring you to set your watch back to 1996, and cartoon characters infiltrating World Showcase.

Outside sponsorship gives us attractions like Living with the Land, Space Ship Earth, Test Track 2.0, new film in Canada... All of which have been, and continue to be high quality (though the end of SSE does need to be finished).
Walt Disney would be appalled if he were alive today! First thing he would say, if he were brought back to life: "What?! No monorail to DHS?! Please put me back in the freezer and thaw me out again when WDW has six gates and ALL of them have monorail!"

Then he would say, "Who the heck is this Gary Busey guy and why hasn't Donald Trump fired him?"

Walt Disney would never say anything about no monorail to DHS as one of the first things out of his mouth and it wouldn't be the first thing coming out of Walt's Mouth either. That is really your own feeling about no Monorail at DHS based on what you mentioned on the past.

When Walt bought a lot land, Walt originally wasn't going to put any theme parks in the land he bought before he was talked into creating the Magic Kingdom. Walt wanted to do more than Theme parks, and entertainment.

The first thing Walt would say is "Where is the Epcot that I visioned". Remember Walt never had Epcot as a theme Park his plans. Walt wanted Epcot as a a Utopian city of the future.

Walt visioned Ecpot to be a planned, controlled community, a showcase for American industry and research, schools, cultural and educational opportunities. That doesn't like a theme park, but Walt's vision on what the future should be like in the United States. That meant DHS not having Monorail wouldn't as much as concern as his believed Epcot as a result.

I wasn't being entirely serious about that monorail bit. I was poking fun at myself because of all my monorail posts!

Now, the Gary Busey bit, that I was serious about.
