Last time I rode in Cali there were imperfections as annoying as the ones that were there the last time I rode in Epcot.

The only time I rode in Cali there was a big, black, chunk o' crap that moved around the screen. Of course, I didn't wait or use a fp.....

It would be cool if they did a Soarin' film featuring Florida. I would imagine that making a film for the ride wouldn't be too tough because Disney would just have to shoot the video, format it to the screen, and sync it with the flying chairs. It would be really awesome if the Imagineers would make a new video for Soarin' because it is such a popular and unique attraction. :)
Kid: Mommy what is that?
Mom: Why that's a swamp dear!
Kid: Cool, what is this scene?
Mom: Well that's another swamp! Oh look over there...a sink hole!
Kid: Wow, that is really neat!
Mom: Son, this is a great country and Florida represents every aspect of the country.
Kid: It sure does, but what is that we are flying over now?
Mom: That is a very special Florida sight. It's a grouping of all the places where you can buy illegal Tickets to Walt Disney World and right next to it are a large crowd of very excited people listening to a Time-Share presentation to get their free tickets. Can't be seen anywhere else, son.
Kid: Mom, this is such a special day. Thanks for bringing me to Disney World.

Fixed this for you. You're welcome.

Kid: Mommy what is that?
Mom: Why that's historic St. Augustine dear!
Kid: Cool, what is this scene?
Mom: Well that's the Everglades son! Oh look over there...an alligator!
Kid: Wow, that is really neat!
Mom: Son, this is a great country and while Florida does not represent every aspect of the country it is still an amazing place.
Kid: It sure is, but what is that we are flying over now?
Mom: That is a very special Florida sight. It's the Kennedy Space Center. Look out for that rocket!.

I disagree. Fly over citrus groves, disney theme parks, golf courses, beaches, rivers, sporting events. All of that is actually in the soarin' California film. Add horse farms (central Florida is the horse capital of the world) and cattle farms (Florida is #2 only behind Texas). You make fun of the swamp but they can actually be very entertaining. Springs, Panthers, Alligators, Deer, wild boar, fox, black bear. A scene flying with big sand hill cranes. Maybe even a moment where you break the surface of the water and swim with manatees, whales, etc.

Fly right over a racecar during the Daytona 500. Feel like you're driving at 185 mph. Fly over UF during a football game vs FSU. The options are endless really.

Don't forget the Keys!

It really bothers me that Sourin' ends with fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle.

At DCA, that makes sense. At WDW...it does not.

Yet another good reason to make a film involving all of the world.

Given that Soarin' at WDW is in the Land pavilion, I've always thought it should be a tour of natural wonders from around the world...the Grand Canyon, Everest, Uluru, etc. Florida wouldn't make much more sense than California IMO.

I've seen some pretty decent "Soarin' over Florida" videos on Youtube. This one is not bad:

I know it's not perfect, but that's scavenging footage versus filming your own.

Jacksonville is a big Navy town, I think; you could recreate the San Diego scene there. I would say Kennedy Space Center, but do they still launch anything there? Slotting that into the cowboy/Blue Angels slot would've been awesome: some peaceful scene, up over a berm and you hear the static-y radio countdown: "3...2...1... liftoff" and the bass would shake the whole theater. No shuttles no more, though. :( South Beach. Everglades. Keys. Orange Groves. Have Mickey and all the characters wave at you as you zip by a cruise ship. Follow the monorail around SSE while Illuminations is going on and then back to MK for Wishes for the finale.

Ideally, I wish WDW would build a third Soarin' theater and then offer up multiple films. It would work so so perfectly because the theme is an airport. Rotate them dynamically based on demand like the Orange/Green sides at Mission: Space.

Come one folks...it was a joke. I love Florida, but it doesn't lend itself to the scenery that would work well in a Soarin type attraction. I, more then most tourists, have taken advantage of what there is to see and do in Florida. That is one of the reasons that I stay offsite. Sorry, if I offended anyone, it was just meant to be a different approach to the subject. :(

Exactly. So much to pull from its endless.

Somehow I feel weird about a Florida film, sorry.
It's Disney World, and Epcot is intended for visitors from all places.
Soarin' Over California was intended for a theme park about California...

I agree. The pavilion lends itself to a Soarin' video that features geographic wonders from around the globe.

I really honestly think you could do it in Florida. I think the original film is a masterpiece, so if it sounds at all like I'm negative about it, I'm not. The original film uses a lot of misdirection and "spice", if you will. You go over plain farmland, but you don't care because you're looking at the hot air balloons. Nothing's really going on in the orange grove, but swoosh! you almost hit your feet on those trees! The river is pretty, but not awe-inspiring... your attention is grabbed by the rafters.

I made a scene list of the ride film, and I'll try to suggest a Florida equivalent. Not that it has to be what I suggest or in that order, but I just want to establish the idea that you could do a film like the original in Florida. For example, I think flying over St. Augustine at sunrise first would be very symbolic because it's so old. I'll just slot that in somewhere where there's no obvious equivalent, though.

Clouds........................Clouds
Golden Gate Bridge.........Sunshine Skyway Bridge
River Rafting................Big Shoals
Farm/Hot Air Balloons......Farm/Hot Air Balloons
Rocky Ocean Shore..........Rocky Ocean Shore
Skiing/Tahoe.................St. Augustine
Yosemite/Hang Gliders......South Beach
Palm Springs Golf Course....Random Pretty Golf Course
Orange Grove................Orange Grove
Cowboys/Blue Angels........Kennedy Space Center (I checked; they still launch rockets, just not shuttles)
Navy in San Diego............Navy in Jacksonville
Surfers at Sunset.............Surfers at Sunset
110 Freeway at Night........Overseas Highway/Key West
Disneyland.....................Follow Monorail from Epcot to MK for fireworks

I think you could stack that film up pretty well against the original. Duplicating the "magic" is very tough, of course, but I think there's a really good framework for a Florida film. That's even leaving out ideas others have had or my idea to do a fly-by on the Dream or Fantasy.

Soarin' Over Florida could go in Disney's Florida Adventure
