I just called the help line for My Disney Experience and asked a few questions. There were system issues that were limiting what the cast member could do, but she did a great job of answering my questions.

Question: I have somehow linked both my wife and my annual pass to my name and it can't be changed. Is there a way to change it and does it mean anything at this point?
Answer: Right now, they can change it on their end but we cannot change it as guests. The linking of an annual pass allows for discounts on online reservations (this was the case before as well). Ultimately, the fact that both passes are linked to me do not matter right now, but it will once Fastpass+ rolls out. Guests should be able to re-assign passes in the future.

Question: Our annual passes have our names attached to it, shouldn't the name attached to it be automatically known once it's scanned?
Answer: I believe that will be the case in the future. The friends and family section receives updates daily.

Question: I've added other family members to my friends and family. We typically buy passes through an authorized third party dealer. Is there any benefit to linking their park hopper passes to their names?
Answer: Right now, there is no benefit, but ultimately it will be necessary for Fastpass+

Question: My sister has a profile and I have sent her an invite. Once she accepts will I be able to see her family and add them all to my friends and family or will I have to create names for her, her husband and my nephews?
Answer: You may have to manually add them, but it should be selecting from the people under her profile.

Question: What level of access will we have for each other's accounts?
Answer: You can set permissions, and you can authorize each other to make Fastpass+ reservations for each other, assign each other to a dining reservation and view each other's reservations.

Question: This morning I called 407-WDW-DINE because the online Dining Reservation system wasn't working properly. I used the automated system and gave my name as well as my Credit Card information, however I didn't give my e-mail address. I was able to manually link the 12 digit reservation code to my ID using the ID and my last name. In the future will the phone system be able to do this automatically?
Answer: Yes, but right now the phone system is not compatible with the new website.

Question: If I didn't write down the 12 digit reservation code, would I be able to call and get it linked based on the name I gave the automated system and my credit card?
Answer: Yes

Wow...when you scratch the surface and get into all the possible details of this new system, things can get really complicated. The level of planning has been escalated to crazy levels.

A room-only reservation does not allow you to pre-book FastPasses prior to your visit. You have to have active ticket media associated with your My Disney Experience account in conjunction with the room reservation to pre-book FastPasses. If a CM is letting you in or you are using comp tickets, that is not something you can link to the account. I have heard that down the road if the Cast Member is staying in the room with you and plans on letting you in they will be able to pre-book FastPasses about 7 days prior but that's it.

I think this is in place to help prevent the same situation with FP+ that occurred with dining reservations that led to the whole CC guarantee thing.

Also, Carousel of Progress will not have FP+ I wish people would stop using this as an example.

Thanks for the info....that is the first I have heard about the seven day window. IMO what is the point? Most/all desirable FP's will be gone. That just makes it easier for me. I wont make any. That will take care of that. But I don't see that being really fair...but like Disney cant have it both ways....neither can I..... and that's fine by me. It basically removes CM's guest and families from taking advantage of any FP program. Great less incentive to even visit the park to begin with. And this is a good idea? Trust me I know a lot of CM's and for some of them park entrance is one of the main reasons/perks they work there to begin with. Most them I know are elderly and work there to help make attendance more affordable for their kids and grand kids. This change ought to do wonders for the already high level of moral among CM's. Me? .....meh....I over it. As I am over WDW. I still love it but they have proven they don't love me back. Its been a one way street for a long time now. I will visit....stop by and say hello...but that's it. One less person in the stand by line right?

As far as the COP FP......yea.... my mistake and used it symbolically as there are other rides you could use ....but you get the point.....BTW.........COP dosnt have FP+.....yet!

Why should they provide incentive for CMs and their guests, who are getting in free? That's however many one day and annual pass sales they're missing out on. I'm getting the feeling more and more that they really don't want the CMs and their guests to have a chance at this "better" system, because it potentially frees up space for everyone else who is paying, and why wouldn't you want more space for your full paying customers. I'm sure they'll have no shortage of first timers to take the CM's attendance "spot," so why should they care.

Yes, those are kind of rhetorical questions/statements, and I know all the different answers that go along with them.

Some My Disney Experience observations from this morning:
  • I've been booking the same two reservations every day for the last few days because we don't know what day we'll want to eat at these restaurants.
  • Today the site has been much slower and has timed out on my multiple times
  • At one point the times in the drop down menu switched to either Chinese or Japanese (pardon my ignorance) for the AM/PM indicator
  • The "Remember Me" checkbox doesn't work as I've had to put in my ID/Password on the 2nd reservation
  • I've had it pull "no available tables" and then I'll run it again and there are 3 options
Edit: Just saw Donald (timed out) again after I had selected my time and moved onto the next screen.

Edit #2: I'm on the automated phone system now... no option to link to existing ID, but they made sure to get my credit card info because that could translate to potential $$.

It took me three days to link reservations for hotels. It kept erroring out and going to a white screen.

Actually, CM rooms were included in all tests so far—my co-worker made FP reservations 30 days out on a stay at the Contemporary.

Absolutely. Guests were told specifically to use their bands, so I'd love to know exactly how Staggs can claim such nonsense.

This is the same BS that was sold with FP. If folks have budgeted say $300 for purchases during a trip, very few are suddenly going to spend $345, let alone say $799 just because they can wave their Mickey. People are dumb, but not that dumb.
I saw the checklist for a recent CM-only test.

They were told to make purchases, to visit certain locations, and to list any problems. I spoke to five testers, and they all said the reservation system was extremely stressful.

Perhaps it is an indication that my passion for Disney parks is on the wane, but seriously...all of that stuff makes me not want to go. Too much trouble.
I don't want to link anything or anyone together.
I don't want to obsessively plan my meals and FP in advance.
I don't want to change family plans or permissions or any of that BS.

I want to show up, buy a ticket, and have fun the way I always have. And I want to do so without being penalized for not taking part in all that other madness.

Ugh....:(

It means that things to make this easier haven't come out yet. More importantly, it means that before you even get to chose your Fastpasses you have a lot of manual stuff that needs to be done.

We've had Fastpass+ support for the touring plans since April(?). Something like that. So you can see how it would affect any touring plan for any day. (There's still a lot of secondary unknowns, like how much Fastpass is going to affect Small World, for example, but we're working on it.)

For the book, we added the estimated Fastpass return times to each touring plan, and then rank the attractions by how much time you'd save in line by getting the Fastpass. Here's sample text from one of the plans:

Start time for Fastpass+: Peter Pan’s Flight 10:15 a.m.; Buzz Lightyear’s
Space Ranger Spin 3:50 p.m.; Jungle Cruise 5 p.m.; The Many Adventure of Winnie Pooh 7:35 p.m.;The Barnstormer and Dumbo the Flying Elephant 7:25 p.m.; Under the Sea 8:10 p.m. Prioritize Peter Pan’s Flight, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Under the Sea if needed.

Len: Our next time with the Mouse will be January in DL; we are so put-off by the overwhelming barrage of details, procedures, hyper-planning, reliance on shaky Disney technical infrastructure, having our "get away from it all" vacation linked to a smartphone --- honestly, despite our love of WDW we're honestly not sure when we'll ever be interested in going again. If there's anyone who can rekindle our interest, it's you -- counting on a FP+ "survival guide" in a future edition of the Unofficial Guide. You're the one source we can count on telling it like it is, and how to make it work without losing our minds -- or our cool.

I'll take your world for it that thats what it means!

Hopefully the things that make the process easier actually do so. I'm just afraid there will be a litany of continual glitches that prevent this MM+ from ever working optimally. After 8 months of operation, they still haven't gotten Test Track's computers to work seamlessley; and they want to make everything in WDW resemble something like that?

Yep... If there's any good news about this is that Disney has failed to do anything revolutionary in the parks for quite some time now. Most of their previous attempts have failed in some capacity.

Exactly, I liken it to the RFID systems at gas stations. I never see anyone using them. RFID is no more convenient nor does RFID make me buy more gas due to the "fun" of using the fob.
