Wait - now I am confused. So I am AP holder. I can visit up 4 parks in one day if I choose. So your telling me once this rolls out - I can only get 3 FP for one park? What is the point of hopping to another park in the same day? In the current system - I can grab a FP for TSMM and standby RnRC and TOT then leave and hit EP and grab a early evening Soarin ticket. This is no longer possible?

We don't actually know that there will be a three FP limit. We only know that three FPs will be able to be prereserved.

It should be noted that in every FP+ test including the current one, people were able to preserve FPs and also obtain additional same-day FPs. The fact that paper FPs using the current FP system won't be available doesn't mean that same-day virtual FPs won't be offered.

Keep think that....

I hope it's true but it really doesn't seem likely that that will happen.

I have a smart phone. I know how to use it. I am Canadian, and therefore subject to the worst cell phone rates in the world and the HIGHEST ROAMING FEES. I shut my roaming off as we pass the Duty Free shop before crossing the Peace Bridge.
Now what? 30 minute lines for a FPP kiosk?
Time to get busy planning a November 2013 trip. One more chance to catch the Osborne Lights beore they disappear possibly forever, and one more chance to enjoy the parks before the crap hits the fan.
I guess it will be many years before I get to ride the Mine Coaster - as may years as it takes Disney to sort out this mess known as FastPass Plus.

With the amount of international visitors at WDW, there's no way this wouldn't work without In-Park WiFi...

If they have stated that ALL resort guests in every room will be sent a MAGIC Band regardless of whether they have any ticket media, then I'll believe it.

I just can't see businessmen staying at the Grand Flo for a convention wanting a Purple sparkle MAGIC Band versus an RDFID card key like they use now ... but it is waaay late and I'll come back in another 21 pages tomorrow.

Funny you say that, Spirit. Last night at the Grand Flo I saw several convention-goers wearing the bands, although all opted for the basic grey. QuickBooks is having a convention, lot of people at the Contemporary, not sure if coincidence, but they all seemed to get the bands.

Chatted up a couple of them (not just the accountant in a skirt that would make Jessica Rabbit blush). Noboby had used these in the park yet, but they liked using the band as a room key, very convenient. Also seemed open to the idea of using it as a credit card. One cougar cheerfully vounteered that they even work in the pool and hot tub.

All in all, I think the basic idea of the bands is sound. But as I said, none of them had tried to navigate the new Fastpass rules yet.

IMO the point of FP+ is to limit any guest from getting more than one "good" fastpass for a given day at a single park.

Kind of how i feel. Seems like FP+ goes against getting a park hopper

I would not count on Cisco for any great WiFi upgrades to what is already deployed. There are much better solutions out there than Cisco, if that is what they chose, for very large scale deployments that can allow simultaneous use of all WiFi bands without much of the older limitations (802.11G being remanded to 802.11B etc.) and provide much higher bandwidth to users of 802.11N that can utilize it.

Read between the lines there. Dont get caught up in the details of the vendor.

It just went from "put your ticket it and get a paper saying come back at this time" to "see subparagraph N, section C.........". I think the IRS has a less complicated system.

I see Disney's idea of getting with the times, but look at the target audience and realize that its not savvy enough to grasp all of this. We are all Kool Aid drinkers and we barely understand it enough to even contemplate its ramifications. Can you see your average Joe trying to figure this all out? Explaining an ADR even these days gets blank stares from most people I know who go to WDW.

Ok. If anyone answers my post many pages back, please use the @ and tag me .... I'm ducking out of this thread. If I want a headache, I'll deal with these a-hole clients at my job. Not at Disney. And if I wanna read a 100 page how -to and small print, I'll deal with the stupid health insurance companies. Not Disney.

Unbelievable.

Kudos to @ParentsOf4 for somehow... some way managing to understand this and keeping a level head about it, or at least while posting reponses to the rest of us

And @WDW1974 for giving us the general scoop (although really I'd prefer to considering a plop) on what's going on.

Your current system is two FPs and two standby.

Same rides on the new system:
1. Fastpass TSMM.
2. Fastpass RnRC.
3. Fastpass Tower.
4. Standby Soarin'.

It actually BENEFITS you.

We need time for things to happen.
Yep. Almost certain this will happen eventually ( charging for 'More Magic' options...)...the temptation will be too great to resist for Disney to dip further into Guest's pockets.

I remember ages ago when FP was first rolled out there was talk among people about eventually creating a additonal 'pay for a pass' option. It never happened, but it amuses me now as it seems this is the direction the new FP+ could go in.

Think of the zillions to be banked by offering that option. Many Guests would freely buy additonal FP slots at the touch of a button when they are stuck in line somewhere and already out of their three-allotted options.

Evil thinking...perhaps....but surely i cannot be the only one thinking of such devious ideas that could be used to fully extract more cash from folks...

Unfortunately not only evil and devious but accurate thinking..and NO you're not the only one thinking this.

You had better have a few long books to read while you are waiting cause that call ain't coming anytime soon!!

No worries. I'll either be at UO, the beach, on a cruise, in the mountains, or visiting many of the thousands of other attractions in this great country. I can find better ways to spend my thousands of yearly vacation dollars than dealing with this idiotic FP+ nonsense.

They DID look at their target audience and realized that their target audience has their faces buried squarely in their Galaxy S4 for 97% of their waking hours. The modern consumer is used to using things like Yelp, FourSquare, Zagat, Open Table, etc. They *get* things in this space. It's a lot when you write it all down, but the medium in which it is delivered should go a long way to make it intuitive to people.

Some character greetings will be FP+ only.

So the one demographic that is totally in awe of the characters - the 5 to 10 year old - is also the demographic that will have no way of grasping why they don't get to meet Mickey because Mommy & Daddy didn't reserve the experience.

There isn't a parent on the planet that can adequately explain to a crying child why they can't meet the characters while other children can. "See Honey - there's this thing called Fast Pass Plus, so...Ok - never mind."

Effing brilliant Disney, just effing brilliant.
