Well if everyone is supposed to be able to adjust/access plans through their smart device.... how on earth does Disney expect to do that when the wifi/cell data networks are woefully overloaded?
That's not their problem, it's yours....;) Hey they provided something, and just because you don't get what you expected, is not their problem, it's your provider or yours... Think of when you contact a software or hardware vendor (If your in IT as I am you know what I am meaning here). They will always point the finger at the other guy.

The WiFi was absolutely useless during SWW.

I'm guessing the military tickets are going away along with our bases in Afghanistan.

I don't remember ever using more than three FPs in a park but the one park per day is going to be a disaster. You think the Brazil riots are bad?

I probably won't go in 2014 because I'm either moving or going to TDL. Good timing on my part. Maybe they'll have it fixed by Marathon Weekend 2015.

And that is a terribly wrongheaded mentality...but yes, I do know it.

Many huge tech companies have that same mentality (yes, I am staring at ou Google and MS)...

In the most toxic of organizations, you may actually have a majority of the people in said room who thinks its a bad idea, but will not speak up because they know they will be disciplined for not being "on board" or "embracing change". And Ive heard Disney is as toxic as they come.

And when it inevitably fails, one of the 'silent, sensible majority' will be asked to be Ollie North and take the hit for the guy in the corner office...

My goal for 2015 is to be like that guy who flies from Orlando to TDL monthly-real 1%er

Heh...if I can't have the lazy hazy days of spontaneity, it makes me think...hrm...

I can't predict illness, weather, general mood, etc 60 days out. ADRs alone add enough stress to a vacation (as EPCOT is so heavy on restaurants already that it really ruins that, as the places you probably want to eat to maintain variety on a longer trip are a resort hop or monorail ride away...and require park admission)

So what's the consequence if you can't plan this out? You lose FP+... something we are complaining that is only 3 experiences anyways.

So is it really a major loss? 3 of your lines being longer than you might have otherwise expected?

I think everyone keeps overlooking the idea that if FP is limited for EVERYONE... availability shifts from what you are used to today.

Sorry if this has already been answered and I missed it, but is the "normal" fastpass we have now being eliminated?
I really hope not. Pick your 3 fast passes 60 days in advance, and then at the park you can get more. I hope they keep the current system and use the next gen system just because I could get around 8-9 fastpasses a day with the current system, as opposed to 3 with the new one

Yes. Steve has a fantastic FAQ that he linked above. Check it.

This entire thing is asinine. ADR's being 180 (+10) mean we rarely if ever do sit-down dining anymore which translates into Disney making less money off of us. I have no clue 6 months out that I'm (a) going to be at a park that day, (b) what park (c) want a specific meal experience. So I just don't do it.

Now we're doing the same with FP+? I need to know 60 days out if I'm going to a park, which park and which rides I'd like to visit on my hypothetical day trip? Seriously??

First off, you have to get your ADR 180+10 out... Then when you are locked into what you are doing that days because of those, you find that there's *nothing* in the park available 60 days out....

Perhaps they have come to a solution for their crumbling infrastructure... eliminate the demand for it...

The goal is to entirely replace FP with FP+. No 8-9 FPs for you anymore. And you LOVE it! Right? ... Right? Anyone? Bueller?

From what I have read, I believe that regular Fastpass is not being eliminated, and that only the Fastpass+ is limited to 3 per day in one park only. This is a good idea so that all the fastpasses are not used up before the park even opens in the morning. I'm just looking forward to the MyDisneyExperience site to be fully operational so I can add the rest of my Park Hoppers (bought from undercover tourist) to my reservation. It will only let me enter one Park Hopper for myself at the moment, and not for anybody else in my family. Tech support told me that should be ironed out in a month.

The only decent part of the MDE app is to search for dining ressies for RIGHT NOW.

It currently looks like the WiFi and cell data performance is the biggest barrier to this going live. I can't see how it can possibly work without the data infrastructure being reliable. Perhaps they have a big upgrade coming there from Cisco which will eliminate that specific issue.

One can hope.

One would also love to go test that out if it actually happens....
