My Little Mouseketeer's First Visit to the World (9/23 - 10/3)

Hello all…

First, a little background and a few caveats.

My girlie, Anastasia, looooves her Mickey. She’s been raised with the Mouse since she’s been born. Her first words were “Me-mou!” (or “Mickey Mouse!” for those of you who need a toddler-to-adult translation). At home she can spot a Mickey from 100 paces and go running to point it out to you. She only watches one show on TV every day, and that’s the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It’s safe to say the girl’s obsessed.

So we brought her home for 10 nights…

The caveats:

This is going to be nothing like my prior trip reports… I’m so thick with Mommy-brain that I barely remember what we did this morning, let alone what we did the first few days we were here, and in exactly what order. This will be mostly pictures of my little one with her beloved characters. Not much artsy photography, because it’s hard to snap away when you’re trying to keep your little one from launching herself headfirst into one perilous situation after another. Just some cute pics for you, a little explanation to go with them.

I hope you enjoy!

After dinner we headed over to the MK for her to visit with the Princesses…

OY what a line. I wasn’t aware of how SLOW that line moves. I kept looking at my watch and the time just crawled. It was the longest we waited for something the whole trip. 45 minutes! It was inching slowly closer to her bedtime but I didn’t want to give up – we were almost there!

Finial after lots of walking around in the store and lots of distracting, she got to meet the princsses… and by this time it was 15 minutes PAST her bedtime… sigh. So needless to say she wasn’t in the best of moods, but she held out pretty well, considering.

hugs for Aurora:

Bunny, she is just so cute! I can't believe how much bigger she has gotten since I've seen her in April. And I love the pictures of her with the characters. She does not seem to be afraid of them at all.

OT- how was the food for dinner? I've done CM for breakfast, but I am considering doing it for dinner too.

This girl has no fear - none! Which totally scares the dickens out of me. :dazzle:

Everything was really good at CM's.. especially the Mickey Domes for dessert..yum! :slurp: Honestly I wasn't impressed with the parmesean mashed potatoes that everyone raves about though.. I liked the ones atthe Garden Grille better

but the Mac n Cheese got 2 thumbs up from my girl though

Ooo, that sounds good! I think I will try it next summer.

And tell Anya she's not the only one who feels that way about the Mac n Cheese!

And...the only reason you like Buzz's guns better is because you can pulverize people at Buzz...it's totally not fair...my gun doesn't aim right! :fork:

Wonderful trip report and pictures. Seeing her face light up sure brings back memories. That's awful about the sunblock. Something like that happen to my daughter. I used those travel wipes on her. I wiped her face off and then her hands. She was in the back seat and she started coughing and I turned around (DH was driving) and her face was all red and her eyes were swollen shut. (I never even went near her eyes) I cried for hours. I made my DD swell up! You just feel so bad like we should have known it was going to happen. Her hands were fine tho.:lookaroun

ooo... I too love Twilight!

But on topic, I was going to say your daughter is so cute and you are so fortunate. My daughter also turned one at the end of august and I can't wait to take her for her first Disney trip. Right now, she pulls the Disney trip planning DVD out from the drawer and tries to put it into the TV.

Someday....

Wow. This has been the most fun trip report to read. We plan on taking our daughter (now 5 months old) in November 09 and this makes me look forward to taking her even more now. Thanks so much for sharing.

Day 6:

Back to the Magic Kingdom again this morning! We headed straight for Splash by way of the WDW railroad. This was her first ride on it, and she was thrilled. This was WAY better than the parking lot tram, or the monorail.

Followed by another round (or three) of IASW and Peter Pan. We meandered towards Tomorrowland and I got to see the Laugh Floor for the first time. Very cute! I guess she’ll enjoy it in a few years.. for now, I had to go it alone.

Hee.... Sounds good to me! :slurp:

Then it was time for another nap and off to the villa we went. Our dinner this night was at the Whispering Canyon, and I was highly anticipating it… I had heard so many good things about it from friends and family…

We had a 5:00 ressie, and we got there a little early. Anastasia had a blast running over the bridge in the lobby of the WL….

Sadly her good mood was not to last. We had asked for a table by the window, and we got it – except that it was the table right next to where the servers came out – and with our backs to the door they were forever startling us with their loud “A-THUMP A-THUMP” of the tray stands when they’d enter the room.

Our waitress seemed reeeally nice – but sadly she had fallen and hurt herself, so she was going to have to leave… and our replacement server was just too harried and busy to pay much attention to us. This was the second worst service of the trip – the worst being at the Garden Grille… I was so jealous watching all the other servers joke around with their tables and ours was kinda a sourpuss. True, she now had extra tables to cover because of our original server leaving, but it made for an unpleasant experience overall. DH never got refills on his bottomless milkshake – but he did get the gallon sized jug of iced tea – which came with the giant straw…

I've got a BIG BIG thirst!
ry%3D400

That straw ended up being a lifesaver, because Anastasia was in no mood to sit and eat. Nothing appealed to her, and she was getting really cranky.

"That's a long straw!"

Sadly we didn’t really get to enjoy much of our skillet – she had just had it… I even tried to amuse her with her first ever corn-on-the-cob. She was actually pretty good at it, but like all toddlers, her attention span is that of a gnat, so she was back to being whiny. We packed it in early this night and just headed back home.

Our skillet - the brisket was yummy! I wish I could have just ordered that!

Day 7:

Today we just played it low key. We slept in a bit and took the girl pool hopping over to Saratoga Springs. She looooooved the zero entry section of their pool. In and out in and out, in and out again… it kept her entertained for a good while. And the water was so nice! Like bathwater!

After showers and a nap, we headed over to Downtown for a while to do some more shopping. It was so nice to have the time to just chill out like that. So relaxing…

We

We headed over to the MK again, and did Pirates and IASW (again and again)… but sadly after the second ride on IASW I realized that I had lost her bottle of milk, and it was dinner time. I left her with DH and flat out RAN to Pirates to see if someone had turned it in. I talked to two really nice CMs at the entrance, and after checking around a bit they couldn’t find it. So one of them gave me a “no strings attached” slip for a new bottle at the baby care center. I could have hugged her! So sweet! Then I ran over to Small World to check there – no luck. We checked in at the main desk at Guest Relations and were told that they just toss out anything that comes in contact with the mouth. We had extras at the room, but the bottle was in a carrying case, and I was sad to lose that too. Oh well. We gave in and went back to the room a little sadder.

Bun...they might have saved the carrying case...you could call them and ask...I know they have a form that needs to be filled out for lost and found items. WHF lost his laynard with his pins on it and they were returned to us. (Although it was left in the room). But since it was a carrying case too, they might not have realized a bottle was in there. It's worth a try. :)

I tried the main Lost and Found at the Kennel twice before we left... no luck :(

I left a full description... I guess it just got tossed out. Or I HOPE it was tossed out. I mean, what kind of person steals someone's baby bottle?? :veryconfu

9-30

It was off to the Studios this morning… and unfortunately we didn’t get to do much there… I never noticed before how very little there is for a toddler to do at the Studios. She wasn’t old enough for the HISTK playground, the Backlot tour didn’t open till 10, and she wouldn’t sit through VOTLM or the Muppets… So we wandered around for a bit and met the characters that were out…

We decided to try her on the Great Movie Ride. She handled it all in stride. Even the big gun battles. The end movie montage got a little bit long for her though – I guess it helps to be able to identify the movies… She was a little restless, but otherwise handled the ride pretty well.

Then we hit the second showing of Playhouse Disney. I was super excited about it since her favorite show was now on the lineup. But the line and the wait were a bit too much for her. By the time we got inside, found our seats, and waited for them to tell us to move forward into the laps of the people sitting in front of us for the seventeenth time, she was getting restless and cranky. :brick:

Finally they played the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song, and the Mousekadoer song, and both of those cheered her up a good bit. But she lost the thread once they moved to the Handy Manny part of the show. She doesn’t have the first clue who he is – nor the Little Einsteins. I had to pick her up and move to the back of the room with her so we wouldn’t disturb anyone else. The only reason I was holding her in there, and not just leaving when she had obviously had enough, was because I had hoped they would end the show with the Hot Dog song, just like on the TV show… And they didn’t. Oh well. It was cute, but next time I know better. We’ll get aisle seats, and bolt when she needs to leave.

After her nap we headed back to the MK and rode (what else??) It’s a Small World… I practiced my camera settings on the no-flash setting. I was getting desperate! I needed something to do to occupy my time on this ride again!
