Michelangelo's painting the Sistine Chapel.

Don't mistake me for an intellectual snob when I tell this story...you'd have to know my father-in-law to realize how funny it is on multiple levels. Briefly put, he's like a mad scientist living in the crazy world of his own mind...haha....but anyway...the last time we were there, my FIL and MIL were in the seat in front of my DH and I, and when the Michelangelo scene came up he fully extended his arm, pointed, and yelled "look honey! Leonardo!". God love him, but always speaks in a half-scream....and everyone near us on the ride cracked up, and he kept looking around trying to figure out why. Even after the ride was over, he kept asking if he missed a funny part on the ride b/c everyone was laughing except him.:brick:

I really like all the triangles. They remind me of abstract images to subtley remind us that we are on our way down to the real world, and out of the giant golf ball that otherwise floats on the horizon. The powerful imagery moves me as I realize the future will be filled with Googie-style architecture, floating cars, and suitcases that pack themselves.

Oh, and the scene with the telephone operators. I still remember that one from my early childhood in the late 80s, and it's always deja vu all over again!

I would say the "city of the future". The visuals and music were wonderful.

Sistine Chapel and view of earth as you turn backwards. Love the music. One of my dreams is to ride this ride on a continuous loop for an hour or two. It is my favorite ride second only to Mansion.

Now I have Disney depression. I so wish I knew when I would be back in my happy place. Stupid economy.

i love the view of earth as you spin backwards for descent. Bit the one that sticks with me is the television with jesse owens at the olympics. Anybody can do anything they want.

INSPIRATION: Descent of Earth in 180 top.
SMELL: Rome
HOW DID THEY FIT THAT SCENE IN HERE: Industrial Revolution
MURAL: Entrance

I personally liked the computer lab scene, even though it looks very "retro futuristic", the Air Force was actually still using reel to reel tape drives in the late 80's when I served in the data center.

Also, a bit of Disney hidden magic that I've never saw mentioned anywhere. Posted in the computer lab is one word... "THINK", which was IBM's motto in the 70's.

The Dark Ages scene has the best smell.

I love the smell of burning Rome in the morning.
