Walt Disney Animation Studios
Step into the pages of Disney's most beloved animated classics, and even learn a few things on the way about how these wonderful films were created at the Walt Disney Animation Studios plaza at Disney's Hollywood Studios!
Formerly known as Animation Courtyard, the Walt Disney Animation Studios will be a complete change from a once drab location at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The first notable change is the removal of the giant archway that hung over the entrance to Animation Courtyard. Now, guests will see a small, modern, sleek sign to the left of where the arch was that simply says, "Walt Disney Animation Studios". The sign will be located in a small, but attractive fountain that is made up of each of the seven dwarves holding a pencil in their hand as they stand dancing, but frozen, around the sign. The sign will be small, but noticeable, letting guests know where they just stepped in to.
The actual "courtyard" will remain somewhat similar to the original version. The sound stages will be re-painted with a lighter grey, and will have more attractive cornices on the crests of each of the walls. A city street will now go down the main walkway all the way towards the end, at
The Magic of Disney Animation. Taller palm trees will line the city street, giving off the impression that guests are actually in California. At the end of the street will be the relatively unchanged
The Magic of Disney Animation. The major change to this attraction is the facade. The animated sorcerer Mickey statue will be replaced by a bronze statue of sorcerer Mickey and Mickey in his first appearance (Steamboat Willie) sitting side by side and looking down at a sketch book. The two columns beside the original sorcerer Mickey will be painted a subtle black and will have silver linings going up it. The sign for the "attraction" itself will be spelt out in art-deco, 3-D letters that will be beneath the new statue, similar to the entrance to the park itself. The attraction itself will remain unchanged.
Walt Disney: One Man's Dream - The current exhibit in the park will be moved here so it can have a proper home. This is because "it all started with a mouse" and that animated mouse is what made Disney what it is today. Without Walt and without Disney animation, Disney wouldn't wouldn't be the same as it is today. The exhibit will be moved where the current Playhouse Disney show is.
Animagic! - This show is well known at Walt Disney Studios Paris, it would be perfect for the new Walt Disney Animation Studios at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The attraction would share the Playhouse Disney sound stage with Walt Disney: One Man's Dream and the entrance would be near where the entrance to new land is. The facade to the attraction will blend in with the rest of the land by having a modern, but art-deco approach. The word, "Animagic!" will once again be represented by 3-D art-deco letters that curve around the corner of the sound-stage and will be what guests enter under.
Animagic! can be described as an adventure through Disney's animated classics. It is represented by dazzling special effects, puppetry, your favorite Disney songs and more! It begins with Mickey instructing Donald on how to draw. Soon, Donald becomes curious about a secretive door, which takes him into classics such as Dumbo and The Lion King. The attraction can be enjoyed by all ages and will be reminiscent of a classic movie theater on the inside. All seating will be sit down, and there will be 13 rows of 40 seats. Shows will be continuous.
The Adventure into Animation - Will be an upcoming omnimover E-Ticket attraction that will be replacing Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The soundstage building will be extended in the back to be able to fit the attraction itself. Guests will see large printed letters on the wall of the sound stage above their heads that says "Studio A-7". However, fiber optic letters will twinkle over the "Studio A-7" logo that is printed on the wall and they will reveal a whimsical font that says "The Adventure into Animation".
The queue itself has guests touring the animation offices of Disney's latest movie. Audio Animatronics will fill the queue as guests observe them drawing sketches of different and new exciting characters. However, the queue passes into a secretive backstage room that transports them into the world of animation. Everything after this point is completely animated in black & white, just as the original Steamboat Willie was. Guests board their omnimover vehicles and begin their adventure through Disney animation.
The narrator takes guests through each of Disney's most important animated films as they embark through the Steamboat Willie set all the way to computer animated films like Tangled. Each movie will have a different show scene which depicts a famous or notable image from that movie while the narrator tells riders the inspiration behind the film and how each one helped to move the art of Disney animation along the path of success. The final stretch of the ride will take riders through the real animation studio where guests can peer through the window and see real concept art of these old films in an animation studio environment.
