MVMCP- Your opinions...

We're going to WDW in December, early in the month. I have always wanted to go to MVMCP, but the separate tickets are so expensive. What I want to know is, in your opinion, is it worth it? Because the same week we can spend a late night at the MK seeing all the regular shows,
Spectromagic, Wishes and all that which we love which may be enough.

I was not to impressed with MVMCP. I can't really put my finger on why but I think it was that there is so much Christmas stuff going on all over property that it did not feel all that unique like like MNSSHP or P&P do.

I really like MVMCP. The parade and the fireworks are grand, plus the snow on Main Street is a treat. I really cannot picture a Christmas Trip without going to the party. That said, I think the value has fallen in the past few years (more people, no photo, etc), but it still is something extra special that I feel like everyone should experience once.

Normally I would say that if you haven't done it before at all then do it once to see what it's like.
If, however, your money is tight then don't do it.

You can see most all of the same stuff in the daytime.
Also, the for last few years they have been letting so many people into MVMCP that it is too crowded. (more people = more direct revenue)

Good luck.

My general response would be similar to Riversidebunny in that it is a fairly unique event and good to experience once. Some come back every year, for others once is enough. I like the parade a lot, fireworks are very nice, performances around the park are nice as well, but I would not say it is a "must do". You can experience "snow" on the Streets of America during Osborne lights. With free Osborne and Epcot offerings, you can enjoy a lot of special holiday events.

I would say not to worry about it, and for some future trip when money is not an issue, then check it out.

Like others have said if money is tight I don't know if I would spend the extra. The show and fireworks are great, but all of Disney fireworks and shows are great. So your paying for the lighting, free cookies and cocoa and the couple of extra shows. It was a little better when they did the free Christmas Pictures. We've done it a couple of times but the second time we did it was because we were on a shorter trip and wanted to do all 4 parks and that is the way we fit in MK was to do the Christmas party. To me if it's sold out it's still very busy.

My wife and I really enjoyed the event when we visited in December-2006.
The lights at night, the snowfall, the atmosphere was really magical. It was a little crowded, but we tried to overlook that and just enjoy the time we were having there. Also, we made sure we were in the right areas to get spots for the parade and fireworks shows, so our ride time was a little bit limited, but it didn't bother us.

My advice is if you do go to the event... make sure you can see some of the special shows, parade and fireworks. If you are just there for rides, you might find some shorter lines during the parade and fireworks. If you have the money, do go and experience it, at least just once.

We went last and enjoyed it alot. What we did was find other things to do during the day instead of wasting a day at the park then having the extra expense of the MVMCP tickets. It was crowded on Main street when we arrived due to no MVMCP guests exiting and the rest of us trying to get in! Once past the hub things thinned out quite a bit.

It was our first time so to us it was pretty cool! We got to see the parade and fireworks, along with some other shows. Still had plenty of time to go on the rides. I guess we lucked out cause it wasn't all that crowded to us and the event was listed as sold out.

Guess depending on how long you are going the not using a park day isn't really that big of an expense if you are going 7 days or more. For us it was a way to see something new and also ride rides without waiting a long time. I would do it again but then I didn't have the experience of knowing what it was like before last year.

We totally loved it last year - it wasn't crowded at all (we went the week after Thanksgiving). Yes, you can experience other aspects (snow, etc.) throughout the parks, but it was such a wonderful evening and really geared us up for the holiday season. I work in retail and it's such an easy time to burn out, but I just kept thinking about the Disney holiday magic and it helped turn the frown upside down!! So I would recommend doing it if you can:xmas: (I know it will be sad this year not going!)

We went last year and have tickets in hand for Dec 9th. We enjoy it, it adds just a little extra magic. But DAK, DHS and Epcot have A LOT of :xmas: magic for free:). Just bee glad you can be there for the holidays:wave:
