Music & Dance Additions at MK & DHS during Summer Nightastic

Sounds corny, but it may make my parents appreciate DHS more. It was like pulling teeth trying to get them to go back :(

It's too bad they're only utilizing DJ's for these dance parties. When I was at Disneyland last May, they had a great local cover band playing live music in Tomorrowland. It had a huge crowd and just gave the area great nighttime atmosphere. And that was just a normal day at Disneyland, not part of their Nightastic promotion. Stumbling upon them was one of the highlights of our trip - we made a point of catching them every night we were there.

I hope they play some house music. I love house music! Or maybe some electro, or techno. Let's throw some disco in there...:zipit::lookaroun:

I agree, the bands (retro/rock/cover) at Tomorrowland Terrace, as well as the swing bands at the Carnation Gardens band stand next to the castle, are quite the tradition at DL. There's a bunch of great small bands and atmosphere entertainment out there. I know Epcot has tons of this type of thing, but where's the love for MK? I really want to see that park develop its own traditions and unique groups. They have the Dapper Dans and the Marching Band (I think?), but what else? Does Liberty Square or Frontierland have any small groups? (I am honestly not sure, I'm much more familiar with DL's music groups than MK's, even though I've visited WDW much more often and now live within 15 minutes. In the past it was all about rushing to rides, but now as an AP I want to take things slower, enjoy.) Tomorrowland has that stupid new stage just sitting there that would be perfect for small cover bands, anything but Disney Channel Pop/Radio Disney.

On the tangent of bands at DL's Tomorrowland Terrace, one of the groups that plays there, Tomasina ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRh1YYjtnTQ ), had their lead singer (I think her real name is Lisa) go to TDL to perform in their Power of Music event. Here are some vids:

The finale of the main show, Rhythm! Melody! Harmony! (make sure to catch the first two parts of the show on the related links on that page if you're interested): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1ie9Jbb2PI

A smaller jazz show (Lisa come in at 6:50): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q17hrMzbWmg

Anyway, to get back to the topic, entertainment like this, both small and large, could've made this Nightastic promotion a little more special than a recycled parade and fireworks.

Tomasina is the band that we saw - absolutely loved them. Their version of Erasure's "A Little Respect" is just awesome. I wish they would come visit us on the east coast sometime.

DHS along with Epcot is the most "adult" park. Why don't they like it?

Well, it's kind of teenage to them  Maybe why I love it.

They really don't like to see shows twice and didn't really "get" Toy Story Mania, but we only rode it once so I hope they fall in love with it this time around. We don't like ToT freefall rides, but they love Rock N Roller Coaster. Aerosmith is about the only thing they request to do in the park- I guide them through the rest. Oh, and we're going this time around and eating at the Sci-Fi Dine In. :sohappy:

This could be a nice smaller offering for Summer Nightastic! Not sure how you can promote more music for the street party. Although the article should note that Celebrate! A Street Party was never part of DL's Summer Nightastic! just a rare thing to see the thing perform at night during the summer(even though it looks much better at night with all its on-board lighting and parade lights along the route)

During Summer Nightastic! The Tomorrowland Terrace Stage was named TLT Dance Club, otherwise after Summer Nightastic! continued as normal as you said.

Very cool to see Tomasina at TDL :sohappy:reminds me of Eden being part of DLR entertainment offerings then moving on with her career, and then coming back for Magical's soundtrack.:sohappy:

I particularly enjoy the band Mulch, Sweat & Shears especially during EMH, where the sets are longer and the guys are funnier. I wonder if this could be thrown in..... Belle
