Muppetvision- Retire or relocate?

The Muppets already do not have a large enough presence in the parks as it is. Which is very unfortunate. If they want to get rid of the attraction, fine....but only if something better would be coming.

If anything, they should refurbish what is there, build upon it and create a number of new films for the theater. Treat it similarly to Star Wars so that if you visited 2 times in a row you would see 2 completely different shows. Involve celebrity guests and incorporate them the same way Jack Sparrow was incorporated into the Legend of Jack Sparrow attraction and the way Universal uses the Potter chaarcters. That would be an amazing show!

with all due respect it is hardly a "horizons like loss" granted i want to see it saved for attraction count.....add FP+ bahahahahaha let suckers be suckers.
In my mind, The Muppet show is more of a loss then Horizons ever was. As a person that was a visitor from the beginning of EPCOT, it had limited re-ride power. That is not just opinion (although I am of a like opinion) but can be borne out if one went by attendance over the years.

Personally, even though I liked Horizons, after the 5th time it was a snooze-fest. Limited motion AA's and tedious dialog made repeat visits less attractive. Over all the years that I have been going to the Muppets I never tire of it. The music, the 3D, the in theater effects and the fact that it is Jim Henson's creation is all that I need to know that it needs to stay. After Henson passed away, that could never be reconstructed. Horizons they could recreate all day long if they wanted to with no real change in anything. Doesn't appear that they want too.

If Disney does indeed get rid of it, it'll be too many lost attractions.

Backlot Tour
Sounds Dangerous
Narnia/Pirates
Disney Animation (?)

Little Mermaid (for Toy Story entrance)
One Man's Dream (for Toy Story entrance)

Indiana Jones (possibly, for Star Wars)
American Idol (possibly, for Star Wars)

+ Muppets

This would be 9 attractions lost for 4 new attractions built.
Granted, the Star Wars attractions will be much better than Sounds Dangerous, but the attraction count is getting much smaller

Baltar

$4 billion for EPCOT
Sounds Dangerous, Narnia/Pirates, and Backlot Tour hardly made a dent in crowd control. Neither did One Man's Dream but I hate that is gone. It needs to be in the parks somewhere. I always thought Mermaid was on the chopping block since Ariel opened in the New Fantasyland. I hate to see animation gone though.

But just comparing numbers won't get an accurate view of how many guests go through them. I think Star Wars and Toy Story Land will bring in plenty of guests...now to see how the "areas" around the new attractions bring in guests.

First of all 6 of those are shows and 1 is a walkthrough so that means 3 or 2 "attractions" lost. Then you know that it doesnt end now after just Toy Story and Star Wars, right? Theres enough space and we know there are more plans that havent been revealed yet.

I completely agree with this idea if they don't decide to keep it at DHS- which I think they should. It would be a natural fit for the EO theatre and the ride in Imagination could be the modern update it needs- without Waldo please! I could see Muppet Labs taking over where the play area is after the figment ride (name?). The Muppets are all about imagination!

I think the show will be a hit-it has the right vibe to it. If not, it may be a while before we see our felt friends =(
It would be a shame to see it go completely, we don't know where DHS expansion is going yet, so don't know whether MuppetVision is safe where it is or not!! The EO theater is already designed for 4D, so shouldn't be too hard. Muppets taking over labs would be cool, and Imagination with Figment change would be awesome (but keep some Figment!!!)

I hope to see One Mans Dream at the Magic Kingdom, probably on Main Street U.S.A.

I dont think the Muppets should go to Epcot, they make the IP overtake worse and they dont really fit the theme of learning about Imagination.

That's why I said attractions and not rides.
But whatever you wanna call them, they're going away and not being replaced by anything.

Yes, I'm aware there's enough space for more stuff.
World Showcase also has enough space for double the amount of countries, that doesn't mean Disney is using the space

I just personally believe it's counter productive to close two attractions(One Man's Dream and Mermaid) to be the entrance to Toy Story Land when there's a giant wide walkway between TSM and the former Jack Sparrow experience that leads exactly to the space that will be Toy Story Land. Mermaid plays to full shows almost all day long, no excuse to close it. They could have left the Animation attraction in tact, even expand the capacity for the drawing class like it was rumoured, and put the Star Wars Launch Bay in the former home of the Jack Sparrow attraction. That's a big soundstage that would have had plenty of space to serve as the Star Wars preview center.

Agreed that it needs to be relocated.
On our most recent trip, i enjoyed it.
It could possibly replace voyage of the little mermaid (as much as I'd hate to see that leave)
I agree. It just seems they're letting it die a slow death. Last time we went, not all of the water jets for the water curtain were working, really ruining the curtain effect. Plus, they shortened the attraction by a few mins years ago when they removed the banter at the beginning between Triton and Sebastian. Plus, the rock on which Ariel used to sit has been canvas covered and non-functional forever. Sad

I have to vote neither. They need to leave it where it is. DHS cannot afford to lose any attractions while these new lands are built. If they have to close 3 more attractions while building these new lands/attractions, in my opinion, they're rendering DHS not worth a visit. Not for the cost of admission. We already complain about the lack of attractions. If you close 3 to build 4, did you really do anything to bolster the park's viability? Sure, you're adding 2 lands, but during the building process you're decreasing attractions from an attraction starved park already. Plus, eventually the novelty of the new lands will wear off, and you're still left with massive lines because capacity has not increased. Thoughts?

Yes about a minute of the show was removed almost 10 years ago, I wouldn't say that's a sign that they were planning on closing it. Also the rock you're talking about that's covered up is the one she sits on in the final scene and assists her in turning into a human. Then she has another rock that she sits on the rest of the show that rolls forwards and backwards into place. Nothing broken in regards to the rocks.

A canvas covered rock that is clearly covered by canvas is horrible show. Why would they neglect what appears to be a simple repair?
Nothing is broken. The rock is there onstage the whole show, has been for years. Most people just don't notice it, you just finally noticed it. They have it covered the whole show and they uncover it for the last scene. It has some kind of lift in it for Ariel for the transformation so I imagine it has to remain in place.

The last 2 times I saw the show, Ariel hasn't used the rock. She starts the final scene sitting on the ground next to Eric. They cheesily pull her flipper from the stage floor and it is cleraly just lying across her legs. And that's been over my last 2 trips a year apart.

Hmmm it was working fine in July. Maybe you just had bad luck and experienced technical difficulties?
