There are some people who should be overjoyed with the news that the fountain is back...

Wouldn't consider it "love". According to other sites it's being turned into a planter.

I know that this is said to be a temporary change, but it still concerns me given TDO's track record with fountains.

View attachment 175329 I have the unfortunate duty to inform the group that it looks like the muppets fountain looks to be staying a planter permanently. They installed sprinklers.

They put in the plants and took the fountain out because they were redoing the water lines, yet now they have water again and instead of putting the fountain back, they have a sprinkler...

Why would put in they put sprinklers in for temporary plants?

The other part I'm confused about is, if they had to put plants in to work on the water pipes, shutting off the fountain, why would/how they put sprinklers in?

I don't disagree but disney as of late has been leaning towards a more refined look and feel and

You do have a point in that the pumps and filter system for the fountain are behind the wall that backed up to the SOA facades. It is very likey being moved. That said it's still strange that they spent the time to install sprinklers.

After the multiple water features at MK that were turned into permanent planters are people really believing this will ever come back?

Any word on the fountain working again or is it doomed to be a planter from now on?

We should know either way I'd venture to guess by around June.

I would say that we will not know until SWL is completed. If the water source is over in that construction area it probably wouldn't get activated until there no longer is heavy equipment wandering around.

I was in fact referring to the fountain. Even though they say it will return, TDO's fountain track record hasn't been great in parks run by Phil Holmes.

Oddly enough the fountain is still on the map though. Did we ever determine if that's going away permanently or if it's ever coming back?

Ugh. The MV fountain is still in plant mode.

Why did they turn the fountain into a planter?!

running water costs money, repairs cost money

The claim was that it was temporary to reroute water and utilities nearby :cautious:

Yep. Just like all those planters in Adventureland came back as the fountains they used to be.

What's the verdict on the fountain? A drought? Just didn't feel like fixing it? Construction necessity? Between that and the new sign, the area looks completely walk-by-able.

random why is it taking so long for the fountain to be done? any reason?

Fully back as of tonight..

So the fountain is back, but where's Fozzie?

This is what it looked like befor going under the knife:

This is what it looks like today (courtesy of Bio):

Gonzo is missing too. I wonder if they're trying to slowly remove "studio" elements (Fozzie with the film camera and Gonzo with the director megaphone). Could be a sign of the overall direction the park is taking of no longer trying to make guests feel they're in a working studio.

It would appear they removed the "studio" aspects of the fountain. This feels like an intentional choice to make the fountain feel more like the kind you'd find in a city park. I like that it's less cluttered in appearance and enjoy the fact they kept a touch of the muppet humors with the Rat's collecting the coins.

No it doesn't "Look Better" and it's not "well done" it's a change that wasn't really needed.

Muppet vision is a film about making silly films. Removing elements of the fountain under the guise to make the area "less of a studio"
isn't a fix to make the area less of a studio. All it does is take the silly and playful nature away from an area that was designed as such.

The fix would have been building a fully complete "muppet" area, perhaps in a different section of the park.

Now I will say "well done" if in fact the statues missing, are just currently still out for repair and are re-installed later this month.

Muppet Vision is about making silly films? I must have missed that... I always thought it was a visit to the muppet show and muppet labs?

Really disappointed that Fozzie and Gonzo are gone, I think it really ruins the look of the whole thing. Seems like we can never get anything out of the Muppet Courtyard that is fully positive, disappointing how things are slowly being removed.

This is a great example of the mental illness that plagues the fan community. Overreactions and personal offense over a water fountain that features a pig. No wonder Disney doesn't take fans seriously. Lol.

Maybe you just have no familiarity or it simply has no relevance to you, but part of the reason why most users visit this site reguarly is that most of them have personal connections to the things in these parks. The Muppet Courtyard means so much to me beyond explanation, and maybe you just don't feel that connection to the area, but for someone like me, its a little bit disheartening to see these changes and then have others (on a Disney World fan forum no less) tell others that the thing you loved is better off now that its gone.

I truly love the fact that we all share our own opinions here, but if you can't realize that a fountain with a pig on it has meaning to those that come here, it makes me wonder why you come here at all.
