Muppets Mini-Land / Muppets Courtyard Additions & Refurbishments

Darn, this is concerning. First they make PizzeRizzo the most minimally-themed "Muppets" restaurant that I could have imagined. Then they take away the hot air ballon. And now Muppet Vision has a generic marquee with interchangeable letters. I know there was always a good chance Muppets wouldn't be in Studios for the long haul, but it now seems like all they have to do is change a few signs and remove a few photos and any trace of the Muppets could be gone overnight.
That does seem to be the way things are heading. Note that the version at DCA will likely never return.

I was at least hoping that the name "Grand Arts Theatre" had SOME sort of implication (a theater where a Disney movie premiered, a theater Henson was associated with, ANYTHING). Closest I could find was this theater/school that is in the same "Grand Avenue Cultural Corridor" as the Disney Concert Hall in LA...

In hindsight I don't know why I had faith in Disney, but when marni first mentioned a theater marquee I just assumed it would be a big, huge Muppet Theater sign that fit in with the city-theming and billboards of the courtyard. This "Grand Arts" nonsense just pails in comparison to any expectations I had. Maybe one day I'll learn...

I'm thinking this is less a "planning to get rid of the Muppets" move and more of a small effort to help them fit into the park's new general direction. They won't really fit in a few years since the studio vibe is going away, so this seems like an attempt to bridge the gap with the conceit now being "you're going to the movies to see
Muppetvision 3D".

Makes it look like the theater could be used as a multi/use performance space. Possibly they are lining this place up to be the new spot for their movie previews? Would be really easy to swap out the banners/posters/Marquee lettering every time they wanted to show previews for an upcoming movie.
Yes, it all makes sense now. Well, not good sense, but sense considering the priorities of the Bobs. While I'm happy that it's likely that One Man's Dream will return to its proper state, it's really stupid to make this the new preview theater considering they've finally established it as a full on Muppet Courtyard on the map. Especially considering that the utterly pointless Path of the Jedi is still operating.

Perhaps they are considering an entryway in to the Courtyard? Even the original concept art shows a simple looking arched entryway on the far left side of the picture...

Or at Least make it look like a presentable "Muppet-ized Entryway"

Maybe something like that will be part of the brick wall @marni1971 told us about.

That easily changeable marquee is a little disconcerting, but I believe insiders have said the Muppets are safe, and I haven't heard any rumors at all about a possible replacement.

It would be EXCEEDINGLY stupid to replace that show with movie previews instead of Path Of The Jedi.

This change in signage will make it easier for them to change the theater to movie previews like over at Disney California Adventure.
The thing is.......Do we REALLY Need 10 minutes of previews.....IMO no....No we don't...I'm at theme park for "Escape-ism" not to go to an AMC Theater to judge what I will see a month or at least a week later in the theater..

Oh I agree with you but it's cheap and easy and Disney loves to market those 10 mins previews as attractions.

I agree. I've never wanted to go see a preview while I'm there. Chances are that I've already seen the trailer anyways.
