MSEP vs. SpectroMagic....

Ok, so we've all heard about the extension of MSEP by now. So, would you like to keep MSEP or bring back Spectro?????

Keep MSEP for ever and ever and ever. When MSEP returned in 1999, I loved it to death still but I felt that Spectro was visually superior. It's safe to say the tide has turned. MSEP! :sohappy:

I love them both! Spectro has an amazing soundtrack that fills my heart with happiness the second it starts. MESP also has an amazing soundtrack and amazing floats. They're both the same for me, but since they are keeping MSEP for a while, they might as well upgrade Spectro and make it look fresh out of the box.

I would love to see Spectro refurbed to maybe an almost completely new show.

I see the two as being quite similar visually. With that in mind, the difference has to be in the sound track. When it comes to sound tracks - there is no comparison. The Spectro sound track is fabulous and uses a great arrangement that can include other melodies. The MSEP sountrack, on the other hand, to me is cheezy. I find the 70's synthesizer music too outdated and not worth any kind of nostalgic value.

I absolutely love Spectro!!!! MSEP needs to change the soundtrack before it wins my vote. Whenever I hear the Spectro music (and it is on my iPod as I type this) it takes me back to MK in the instance it starts. Whenever I hear MSEP I get annoyed and it feels like it is outdated. The lights are amazing however, but it is not as good as Spectro!

Ahh, I have to come to defend my precious Main Street Electrical Parade.

1. The lights on MSEP far outshine those of SpectroMagic. Spectro would need a pretty serious overhaul to compare to the brilliant new lights of MSEP. Even just looking at pictures of Spectro vs. 2010 MSEP, SpectroMagic looks like Christmas lights. Spectro looked better than MSEP's last run in 2001, but the tide has turned with the upgrades they gave it in 2009 at DCA.

2. MSEP soundtrack DID get an upgrade. The 70's synths were replaced by the more modern synths that they use in Japan for the Dream Lights parade. Sure, it's an orchestral symphony like Spectro, but I think the electronic score translates much better for a parade than an orchestral score. I feel like the crowd is into it much more than they are into Spectro.

But, of course, you are all allowed to disagree with me, which is why this thread is here, isn't it? :wave:

Spectromagic for me. As a Disneyland local, I've seen MSEP many many times and was looking forward to seeing Spectro upon our return. That being said, I totally understand the desire to keep it around WDW for awhile.

I love Spectro. The music alone is spectacular! I have to say, I just saw MSEP, and it is pretty cool too. Just was kind of...weird to me. Kind of like being on a crazy trip or something. But it was cool to see it back.

But Spectro is still better in my opinion.

I prefer Spectro, its the parade I grew up with. The new lights and additions to MSEP look amazing though, and the music is very upbeat. I just think Spectro is more magical. I wouldn't mind ditching both for an entirely new night time parade with new more modern characters excluding stitch.

I voted Spectro because of the music. I know the Electrical music is classic Disney, but I love the Spectro music!
