Per Miceage Per MiceAge WDW may have MSEP for 2 years http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al022310a.htm

"So earlier this winter the WDW executives in Orlando made a pitch to borrow the Electrical Parade for a bargain price during that period and use it to try and duplicate the success Disneyland had last summer with the Nightastic! promotion. The Anaheim executives are insisting that Orlando only gets the parade for just under two years, and the current agreement has the parade being shipped back to Disneyland just after Easter vacation of 2012."

Sorry if this was posted before.

i'm ok with 2 years! Lord knows I've seen Spectro enough over the past 3 years! (<---that's how long I've been an AP holder)

I cringe reading through Al's articles. Sure he's a wealth of insider info for Disneyland, but it seems he can't go one article without taking a stab at WDW while elevating DL to godlike status and patting himself on the back for reporting the news first. Both resorts have their plusses and minuses.

Ok, rant over. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. On one hand I'm excited to see the MSEP at WDW for any length of time, and on the other I really want an updated SpectroMagic for the 40th next year. It'd be really cool if we had both for the 40th, with one parade at the before-fireworks time slot, and the other taking over the second parade time during those summer nights. Yeah right... that'll happen!

Do you think we'd see 2 straight years or 2 straight summers?

By the way, for Disneyland fans - that Lutz article is a really good read.

I'd rather see a new nighttime parade for the 40th, but if not that a significantly changed/upgraded Spectro.

Same here, or like you said, an extremely changed and upgraded Spectro. I hope they don't come back with the same less impressive Spectro :brick:

Personally, I hope they keep MSEP year round for at least a year. It would give everyone who had enjoyed it as a child (like me) a chance to see it again and also share it with their kids. Not everyone gets to go to WDW during the summer but many go at some point during the year.

I want MSEP to be there in October. I think WDW needs to plan for the future and have an eye-popping, all-out blow out for the 50th. 40th anniversary is not too spectacular. 50 is.

Well, I love Spectro. I have never seen MSEP, so I would certainly love to experience that as well but would be heartbroken to see Spectro disappear completely.

By the way BigRedDad, looks like you are showing up at Coronado just as I am leaving. Have a great trip.

Al Lutz said:
Apparently Walt Disney World is rather infamous amongst Anaheim Cast Members for not maintaining their attractions, equipment and facilities to Disneyland standards, and the Anaheim entertainment team is rather nervous about sending their newly refurbished floats out to Florida. But at least the plan frees up some storage space for them as the DCA float warehouse get reworked during the Cars Land construction.

While Lutz can be a great source of information I just can't stand the way he reports his take on WDW. Al should really check his notes before taking a dig at WDW. Last time I checked, Disneyland wasn't all that great at maintaining their parades. When DHS received BPB they had to refurbish a lot of the elements on the floats cause DCA just didn't take care of them. In fact, the Monsters float was know as Titanic cause it listed to one side when they first got it. That float had to be rebuilt and repaired so many times cause DCA just didn't take care of it. :fork:

Those Miceage articles almost always are a great read, for Disneyland fans at least. This one today was another gem.

For WDW fans, Al Lutz' Miceage articles are hit or miss, but generally have no mention of WDW at all.

Your criticism would be more accurately aimed at Anaheim Cast Members, not the guy reporting what they think, and who clearly stated he was reporting the opinion of those people. You may have perfectly valid criticism of the author personally, but don't shoot the messenger.

As for a very casual observer, I tend to agree with Al Lutz on that one. At least when it comes to audio quality and animatronic operation at major attractions, the difference between Disneyland and WDW is almost always unflattering to the WDW version of the ride. But I know nothing about parade float maintenance.

I will go on Pirates at Disneyland one weekend and it's looking and sounding amazing and the robots are very fluid and smooth, then a few days later I'm on vacation at the WDW version of Pirates and the sound is muffled and flat and it's like the animatronics are doing the herky-jerky on a Soul Train Spotlight Dance.

I feel Al Lutz deserves the criticism in this case. He is reporting this item of information to get a rise out of both DL and WDW fans. The important part of that information is that the floats are being sent to WDW to free up space for construction. Al however also decided to provide a dig at WDW as well in reporting the news. The "opinion" of those cast members adds no value to the article other than to stir up Al's continuous point of view that Disneyland is far superior to it's Florida counterpoint while also getting DEP's biggest fans upset about the potential misuse of their precious parade. Also with the one sided reporting Al provides it's not hard to assume that he agrees with this statement and it is one of his own which is backed by countless examples of similar statements from past articles.

I'm as avid a Disney World fan that there is but the article didn't get a rise out of me, nor did it make me upset at any reference to WDW. Both parks need work and IMO Disneyland>Magic Kingdom. At least is was back in 07 when I was there last. Not sure why people are getting upset though, it was just an article on a web site.

If we really get DL's original parade running during MK's 40th I might go insane.

MSEP shouldn't overstay its welcome- I want Spectro back upgraded for the 40th.
