MSEP Returns

I should have known, not even MSEP is safe from the wrath of Marvel and Star Wars.

On the bright side, if they are taking the time to add floats, then most likely they ll be workin to get the parade back in tip top shape and maybe get "Main Street" back on the first float while they re at it. As someone who hasn't had the chance to see MSEP in two decades, I'll take it with the Marvel and Star Wars additions over having to fly across the country or never seeing it again.

EDIT: they just better not touch the Baroque Hoedown
Baroque Hoedown mixed with the Marvel/Star Wars floats is going feel so out of place.

I'm surprised star wars and marvel and even the muppets haven't had their own float yet. Why is it only animated stuff that gets floats?
I remember stumbling across an old Youtube video that was a fanvid that combined Muppets medleys with the MSEP theme song if a Muppets float was ever made. I can't find the video now but I remember it was surprisingly good.

MSEP has a long history of live action floats. Pete's Dragon, Return to Oz and Bedknobs & Broomsticks have all had floats here and at WDW. The bedknobs float (themed to the briny sea number) was redressed in SpectroMagic as the Little Mermaid float.

Obviously an Apple Dumpling Gang float should be the next addition.
I wish there was video footage of the Return Of OZ float besides pictures.

Cause it was an easy and predictable way to build a parade. Who cares if no one knows who Clarabelle Cow or Marie from Aristocats is, shove 'em out there and make 'em dance for the kids!
I'm sure The Aristocats idea would work at Tokyo's Dreamlights since the character is very popular there. Helps that Tokyo Disneyland always updates the parade by adding and removing floats every few years. The Aristocats already have there own float for the current daytime parade Happiness Is Here parade.

I'm not one of those "At least it's new!" type of fan, one who praises any and everything new that's brought to the parks. I'm a constant and continuous complainer of Frozen, but I'd rather see a Frozen float than a Marvel and/or Star Wars-themed float for Disneyland.

No and that's not necessarily what I meant. The 'ugh, really, more X of what I don't like' is a fine reaction.

But @Mike S implied running a rickety old parade for six years in all its rickety glory, and actually losing a night time parade completely was somehow better than getting said rickety parade in an updated format with new floats. Albeit with choices that are far from his or others first.

The hatred of Marvel and Star Wars can't be so strong that people actually think this is a bad move? I'd be annoyed if we were getting the tenth iteration of a Mermaid and Nemo units, but I would never suggest that it was worse than doing nothing.

Am I the only one who is super happy to hear they might be adding floats and redressing the parade? Something to actually look forward to now.

Plus it's not Frozen, Mermaid, B&TB or Pixar. I see that as a major win for some actual NEW variety for what will be a fairly temporary offering.

But sadly, 'boy properties', the millennials must weep.
The last time the parade added new floats (Not counting the Tinker Belle opening float) was the Pleasure Island float for Pinocchio that replaced the Underwater sequence and the Dumbo section turning 3D since most of the older floats for Dumbo were mostly 2D.

I'm not against updating the floats. Of course not. I'm also not against getting new floats with other Disney characters.

Yes, I actually think having Star Wars and Marvel floats for MSEP is a bad idea. I hate neither. I like Star Wars and love Marvel (I even through myself a Marvel-themed birthday party in anticipation of the theatrical release of The Avengers back in 2012, Marvel party decor and themed cake included). Do I want to see either incorporated in Disneyland the way it has been? Absolutely not. I draw a line.

Is this the post you're referring to? Because that is not what I meant at all.
Real sorry for you guys if this is true...

The "temporary" Season of the Force in Tomorrowland, Star Wars Land, rumored Star Wars fireworks, now this. It's like a hostile takeover.
I simply meant that it feels like Star Wars is completely taking over Disneyland. It's not about "boy properties" either.

Ok cool, I misunderstood the implication!

Star Wars is definitely overtaking, this is true. Marvel has pretty much zero presence though. But keep in mind this might not even be around before Season of the Force ending and GoTG opening, so both really lack any penetration technically.

That's fair! I think I have a pretty low threshold for the potpourri parade style. Im happy apart from these one offs Marvel seems like it will be a DCA thing only.

I welcome the dancing disco Storm Trooper electrical overlords, but I understand that's a hard line for folks!

Same here. I have not nothing against Starvel Wars or "boy" properties. I just don't see how those 2 IPs mesh with the MSEP especially to the tune of the very un- Starvel Wars baroque hoedown.

It's just where is the line drawn? An all Star Wars fireworks show rumored to be the default show at Disneyland soon. Starvel in the MSEP. Season of the force in TL. A 14 acre land. GOTG taking over TOT. Kylo Ren on the park maps (lol). I think they have to be careful of creating Starvel Wars fatigue. Especially at the movies. I think the brand will be diminished if they keep going with this one movie a year thing.

EDIT: btw I officially coin the term "Starvel" in this post.

LMAO "Starvel." Good one!

This is exactly what I always talk about in my "anti-Star Wars Land" thread. The door is open and now they don't know how to stop with the Star Wars crap everywhere. And now Marvel will be taking over a space that just doesn't make sense. Enough is enough.

But this is what the fans want, including some people here. What I find confusing is the amount of people here who praise the idea of SWL at Disneyland, but at the same time dislike the idea of a SW-themed firework show at Disneyland for the EXACT same reasons why I'm against SWL. LOL It's confusing.

I really can't imagine how these two properties would fit the style of MSEP. It's mind boggling.

If a Marvel float is ever made, It might look like these floats (Mainly the Batman float) for the Six Flags night parade "Glow In The Park Parade".
