MSEP Returns

Can someone explain something to me? This is an honest question, I'm not trying to be sarcastic.
They apparently needed to cut down on PTN performances to save money. Other than paying all of the people involved in each performance, why else does it apparently cost so much to put on the show each day? I completely understand why it cost so much to create, but other than daily maintenance and paying those involved, what's on the bill?
AND, going off of that point ^ if there isn't any other costs, then wouldn't bringing back MSEP be an even MORE costly decision?? Because technically, MSEP has even more performers, float drivers, stage managers etc. than PTN...and even with all the technical issues that PTN had, no doubt MSEP will require even more attention because according to WDW cast members, it's literally falling apart at the seams...I'm confused.

See, I don't think the Main Street Electrical Parade has aged badly at all. It's obviously still awesome. A lot of people seem to hate it? I'll gladly take a parade with Pete's Dragon (the original!) over that Asian parade with the teeny bopper music. It could probably use a refresh, sure. It needs the Return to Oz float that supposedly burned down in a horrific fire after appearing only briefly in the parade in the summer of 1985, and which isn't even mentioned on the Wikipedia page.

Might as well enjoy it since I'm assuming once it's done with over here, it WONT come back to any park. At least I hope. Maybe they'll at least have the decency to change the drum to read Main Street instead of Disney this time around. Rebuilding a dumbo unit would also be nice, but I highly doubt it. I'm just happy we still get to keep PTN, as far as I'm concern this is more of a bonus.

Paint the Night is obviously a huge improvement over the Main Street Electrical Parade. It has Frozen, puppets of the Genie, Tigger and Lumiere finally together and a Princess scene with embarrassing cringe-inducing "AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!" vocal. Trash that dated irrelevant dragon and Alice in Wonderland scene!

As you said, you don't put your parade down for refurb (which it needs) and pay to have another shipped across the country in a move to save money.

Everything else you mention is all fan speculation, which is proving to be increasingly off the mark.

Is it possible that attendance is so bad in o town that it's cheaper to send this back to Anaheim for a tribute and get it back to California in preparation to be placed in the archives.

Once MSEP is over at WDW and later Disneyland. Be sure to visit Tokyo Disneyland since they have an amazing modernize version of MSEP (No relation to PTN since Dreamlights came in 2001).

Does the Live-Action Pete's Dragon count as relevant?

Being young-ish, I never got to experience the Main Street Electrical Parade in person, I've seen videos. But, to me personally (don't hate me) the music to the parade is kinda weird and strange to me. With Paint The Night you got a bit of Owl City with "When Can We Do This Again" and other music that was easily recognizable from almost all ages. Examples include "Let It Go" (frozen float), "Life Is A Highway" (Mac float), and the M-I-C-K-E-Y song (Mickey float). Which in my opinion Paint The Night was more upbeat and lively (in the music sense).
But in all honesty I am to young to feel the nostalgia that comes with bringing the parade back and people wanting to kill it. So, haha, I don't care what they do with it.
(It would be nice to see Paint The Night more than just in holiday season)

I'm old, I miss the 20th century, I don't like the newfangled stuff the kids do now, and I'm a lifelong Disneyland fan.

But this news has bummed me out. The MSEP is dumb. And hokey. It's a hokey and dumb parade that should have stayed dead when it was originally killed off in 1996.

Someone in TDA is taking some very bad advice, and/or doesn't know their audience very well.
