You’d think an AK night show would be important, but they also need more to do in that park to keep people there late
Last I’d heard, any attempt to stay open late wouldn’t come until Dinoland is gone. But, things could certainly change. Personally, I think they need to find a way to make the nighttime safari compelling. That could be a big draw.

they tried the nighttime safari and it didn't work out very well (drawing more people).

AK just needs more things to do - in a big way

I’m not sure the response should be to give up on the safari though. I presume there are other options. We did it once and the wait was interminable and the ride boring. DAK has a long history of throwing in the towel instead of making something work. Imagine if Epcot just gave up on fireworks after Harm…

That's the problem. Doing a nighttime show at DAK is IMHO a big thing they need to do now, but you run in to the issue of "not enough stuff to occupy people" if you have longer hours. Which would be exacerbated if you take Dinosaur off line as well.

They needed to expand Pandora like yesterday. And, honestly, add another attraction to Asia or Africa or Rafiki's. Then you'd be able to shut down Dinoland USA and tolerate the lost capacity.

One option would be to put a daytime show in the water for DAK (something better than the kite) on the scale of Mythica. That could be done to add "more stuff" without having to keep the park open late.

I thought I heard once that DAK didn't/couldn't have fireworks because of the possibility of it having a negative affect on the animals. I can understand that, those things can get pretty loud, however, I guess they do manage to be OK during the frequent thunderstorms.

Universal is going BIG next year with a new nighttime spectacular (rumored to have drones) and a new parade. Not to mention DreamWorks land and the big elephant in the room.

With all of the focus on Universal... what exactly does Disney have to offer over the next few years to get people's attention? MSEP could work (nostalgia sells big time), new food event at DAK (latin-themed), new show at DAK?

The problem with DAK and nighttime shows is that you couldn't convince enough people to stay during the hot summer days until 9 (when it got dark enough to run a show). In the interim, a daytime lagoon show is the best we can get.

Not sure Disney is worried about Universal’s 2024 efforts but Epic Uninverse and Hyrule should certainly be a draw in 2025 and beyond.

I don't expect Disney to lose sleep in 2024 with the Universal additions, but those additions will help Universal draw more days of a visit to Orlando. Right now, you could argue guests are spending 3-4 days at WDW, and 1-1.5 days at Universal at the moment. In 2025, Universal will become a solid 2-2.5 day visit. Most people are probably not going to extend the number of days they visit the parks, but rather start to cut the parks that don't interest them. And I'd imagine the kids are much more interested in Mario than tall blue people.

I don't want to sound like one of those extreme "Disney is getting destroyed by Universal" fans, as Disney will forever remain king (specifically MK) in Orlando, but I'd have to imagine they're worried about losing attendance from DAK (maybe a bit of Epcot) to UOR.

Hyrule is on the backburner. I'm still technically in review for a show coordinator job for UC that's related to that area (really was excited for it as I rarely get considered for creative jobs), and apparently the project "has been put on hold temporarily". Funding pulled from what I hear.

Are you referring to the roaming puppets/dragons? Even without that feature, Hyrule is probably going to be the sleeper hit of this park.

They don't even need new fireworks at DHS, just bring back the Star Wars fireworks!
Speaking of DHS..........

Can't be JBJB, that 's already running at Jollywood. NYE or even Christmas Week maybe?

Feel free to move this if needed!

Yeah, the job in question was for Zelda in IOA apparently, not sure why it's been delayed but still...

Unless it was for something temporary, can't imagine they were hiring this early. No permits yet with no indication of Lost Continent being touched until DreamWorks land is completed.

The job was full time and not temporary, at least according to the job description. Just checked my records. Not having any permits yet fits with the notion that it's been substantially delayed, and it's the only project I know of that fits under the e-ticket category (the particular job title was for an e-ticket) in Orlando that has been paused as of late.

I presume a new parade at MK or fireworks for DHS. I know both have been discussed but Epcot fireworks were the focus this year. Looks like they can finally move on from that. I doubt they’re thinking DAK at night yet.

I wonder what’s going to come first a FoF replacement or night parade lol. As much as I’d like to see something happen in 2024 I think the consensus is 2025 at the earliest because of EU and also that seems to be the rumored time frame for PTN to return to DL for their 70th Anniversary. I know their Anniversary doesn’t pertain to WDW but if there’s movement in 2025 on the west coast for a night parade if’s possible WDW could aim for the same time frame.
