Move It! Shake It! to Run at Night

That's called rolling over and accepting mediocrity. TWDC can do - and did - much better. And that's what guests expect of them.

A polite stop at city hall should be the least one does.
For my child, and several other children, dancing with their favorite characters in front of Cinderella's Castle is not mediocre.
Do I wish MSEP or at least some kind of night parade was back? Heck yes. That doesn't stop me from enjoying a wonderful moment with my family.

You can dance with other characters at the other parks besides MK you know.

I didn't know this. Where? We dance with the Incredibles Dance Party, Move it Shake it, and the Animal Kingdom dancers in Africa..we dance to the Moroccan band, and in England if we catch them. We like to dance.lol. But, I didnt know there was another character opportunity outside of MK.

Think for yourselfer
They probably feel like this is throwing a bone at those who wish they still had a nighttime parade

I'm telling ya, if this new "fireworks" show is a miss....the response could be bad
FWIW, I think showing this garbage parade will be viewed as a net positive.

Also, my 3 year old will probably like it when we go. However....he also likes laying underneath the coffee table. So can we really trust his opinions?

No one is talking about children's views of this. And no one is dismissing that it can be a wonderful moment for a family. They are voicing their personal opinions about this move from a business standpoint, and their own opinion of the show as adults.

No to mention the thing runs at least twice a day. You have opportunities to let the kids enjoy it during the daytime.

When I was three, I was hardly bored with real parades and rides. Just because 3-year olds like to dance doesn't mean we should gear the theme park's toward them. You're only 3 for a little while. They also like playing in mud. Shall we offer mud wrestling in Frontierland?

You might end up liking the garbage parade too while you're dancing with Nick and Judy and get an awesome photopass pic of your family.

I do want to know what other parks have character dance parties, can someone tell me? I can't find it on the website. We're only doing MK and a split day of Epcot/HS.

I know they expanded the hub and all, but one big concern I have is how much they are going to have people congregating at the front of the park each night now with three shows/events that all require you to be on main street or in the hub to see/experience (no matter how good/bad they are). If HAE is as projection heavy as some are expecting, you may have far fewer people trying to enjoy the show from alternative locations in the park (Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland) like you had with Wishes. Similarly, MSEP at least passed through Liberty Square. As such, while it wasn't the best viewing location, you could at least enjoy 2 of the 3 night time shows from Liberty Square which I would imagine stretched the crowds out somewhat. Now you don't have that option at all which, if you don't intend to watch the night time shows may be a blessing because it might mean even shorter lines during the night time events.

It's one (another?) area where Disneyland does it right. You have a night time parade that basically crosses the entire park (north to south), a firework show in the hub, and then Fantasmic (when it reopens) in the north-west section of the park with several of those overlapping much more efficiently spreading around the crowds.

In all fairness, watching Wishes from Lib Sq or Tomorrowland would be akin to watching RoE from the parking lot.

DL has had huge problems with its nighttime shows. They've demanded viewing from the hub or Main St for the properly intended experience, with infrastructure that couldn't cope. Remember and Forever were especially problematic due to this. Small World was added as an attempt at an overflow area with poor results. The shows were designed to be seen straight on.

It's all down to subjective opinion and what you feel is "worth it"

You like dancing and taking photos. Others expect a better product from TWDC. Nothing wrong with that.
It is subjective. I think it's also about the memories. My memories of MK as a child are MSEP..and how much I loved seeing it. 2015 I cried watching it..mostly bc my kid fell asleep and missed out...but also because of nostalgia.
Now, I'm seeing WDW thru my child's eyes..which means today I enjoy things that while I may not have considered "garbage", I definitely didn't have any interest in before.

Maybe it's being blinded by that kind of Pixie Dust. But I'll take something over nothing...and I'll put my faith in knowing Disney well enough to believe that they'll bring back a real nighttime parade at some point.
