God bless the "Ignore" button.
For the thin skin people, please don't watch any of Carlos Mancia comedy shows...
You mean, for EVERYONE, please don't watch any of Carlos Mencia's comedy shows. That man is just plain dumb.
And regarding the whole concept of going up to an overweight person to see if you're comfortable telling the joke (a few pages or so back), I wouldn't feel comfortable walking up to ANYBODY and telling ANY joke if I didn't know them. However, if it was any of my overweight friends, I would totally tell them the joke, because they have A SENSE OF HUMOR.
There's no such thing as "too offensive." There IS such thing as "just plain not funny. And offensive."

Actually you just got to the heart of my entire point.

Let me reiterate. I am not trying to tell anybody what to find funny. I, personally, have a rather dark sense of humor. Notice the line in the quote above that states he would fell uncomfortable telling a joke to someone he doesn't know, but perfectly fine telling it to his friends. Here's the point. We all don't really know each other. We may know some but hardly think everyone knows everyone on this site. You never know who is going to read your post or comment. All I was saying is I thought we should show each other respect and show respect to those who may browse the board.

So you can take my words for what you will. I simply was requesting we show respect for each other. I apologize that I did not come across the way I intended. I do not apologize however for my meaning, only the delivery.

Is asking we show respect for ALL people that horrible a request?

Now, in the words of Johny Storm...."FLAME ON!!!!" LOL:lol:

Minus the pictures, this thread (and a few others lately) make me wonder whether I'm back on rec.arts.disney.parks . . .:hammer:

I guess you have summarized my point too.

There may indeed people who are overweight who enjoy jokes of that nature. But I am pretty sure that there are many who dont.

It really comes down to a balancing act. On one had we do want to show respect for others. On the other hand we don't want to become too PC that it handcuffs us.

As for walking up to people and telling them a joke. I would have no problem walking up to a person on the street and saying "Excuse me, could I get your opinion on if this joke is funny or not"

Somtimes the computer screen makes an effective shield for others.

Don't give in to hate. That leads to the DARK SIDE!!!!

Then again, that's probably what put the hat up in the first place. Bet that caused the whole wand debacle over at Epcot too!!!

I think its too late for that. Threads have been locked for pretty much no reason lately. Also, the problem with that statement is that you can't be respectful to everyone without being completely PC anymore. Someone will take offense to almost anything you can think of and just surfing some of the threads here will prove that. In the end all you can do is pick your comments wisely. Will the majority laugh? Will it hopefully not hurt the rest too bad? Or you can just not care and hope people don't take themselves so seriously.

You might want to be careful on how you word your statements in the future. You used the word "PC" and that might offend Mac users. Even though you were referring to "Political Correct" and not "Personal Computer" you can be too careful these days.
