A few minor things to report on today...
First off, you can look for a few menu changes coming to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Boma typically has rotating menu items based on the day in which you arrive, but plans are to reduce those menu item changes in order to cut down on expenditures. Ninety-nine point nine, nine, nine, nine percent of guests will not notice any difference, as you would have to go to Boma for dinner more than once on your trip to even realize the menu items rotate.
Second, another food update: El Pirata Y el Perico Restaurante may soon be a year-round offering at the Magic Kingdom with limited hours of operation rather than a complete shutdown in the "value season." With a few additions coming to Adventureland (i.e. Pirates League), and the continued impressive attendance at the Magic Kingdom, plans are to have the restaurant available to guests for lunch and dinner hours with closings in the afternoon and late evening. During heavy attendance days the restaurant will be open from 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM. The menu is not expected to change.
Finally, the last food update is that Disney is in the final planning stages for introducing a gourmet coffee offering (think Starbucks) at all its theme parks. In the Magic Kingdom, there are three locations planned to receive the new coffee line: one on Main Street, one in Tomorrowland, and one in Liberty Square. Future World, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom will also be receiving the addition, but no details are available for them at this time.
Whew! Can you guess what departments I've been working around lately? And now for you attraction junkies...
The Space Mountain refurbishment is going splendid and the rumors of its cutbacks are greatly exaggerated. There will be audio, there will be new special effects, and the attraction is receiving work around the clock at this point. I haven't been anywhere near it since the work started, but I'm told it's a veritable construction site in there.
Although it's getting much less internet buzz than Space Mountain, the Hall of Presidents refurbishment is AMAZING. Whether or not you vote Democrat, Republican, Green, or write-in Mickey Mouse every time, you'll still want to visit the attraction and be awe-inspired at the meticulous effort that has went into restoring this attraction to a splendor it hasn't seen in some time. Voicework by Morgan Freeman and the current president of the United States is truly just the tip of the iceberg. And did I mention our latest president's animatronic is more technically impressive than Jack Sparrow 3 in PotC?
Last but not least, here's one little tidbit of information about the Monsterss Inc coaster going in at Hollywood Studios, which most of you are aware of...
Disney Imagineering is working with Gerstlauer Amusement Ridesto create a first-of-its-kind roller coaster variety for our new attraction. WDI was going with a more "standard" solution to the theming, but we had one of those very rare change mid-stream decisions... and trust me, it's for the better. The MUCH better.
