Most Over Rated Restaurant At WDW.

I would say Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano - there's nothing fresh, original or particularly redeeming about it. I agree that Le Cellier is probably also overrated, though I have at least had some really outstanding dishes / meals there, so it earned at least some of its reputation ...

Once, I suggested to Chef P. that a really good addition to the menu would be something not available at any other WDW restaurant... an Abalone Steak. These are VERY expensive now (though they were cheap in CA in the '60's before everything got fished out). We can debate as to whether or not anyone but me likes something like this, but Chef P. thought it sounded great - unfortunately, he simply could NOT put something like that on the menu. I asked "why not just charge appropriately for it?" Direct answer: "Because if it's on the menu at all, we would be KILLED by the DDP."

Funny you should say that and mention Victoria & Albert's, because last time I was there Chef Hunnel made me an incredible dish with abalone and Meyer lemon ... I 'third' Dave's suggestion to free up the sourcing for the Signature Dining restaurants ... (I'm admittedly biased as a Tables In Wonderland member who never does DDP ...)

Absolutely correct. True story, though I'm going to leave out the name of the SIG to guard our favorite head chef....

I think Dave's suggestion is excellent - it would remove the "DDP ceiling" that the Chefs at the Signatures face on a regular basis, allow them to offer higher end dishes, and still offer DDP dining. Right now, they have two choices: DDP & limited menue, or go the V&A route (don't accept the DDP at all).

I asked for an abalone sandwich, this is a baloney sandwich!

??? Dave, it really is a true story... not sure what you meant?

Sorry about that, it was from a Simpson's episode. They were at some country club and a kid was berating the help by yelling "Jeeves, I asked for an ABALONE sandwich, this is A BALONEY sandwich!" I think of that whenever anyone mentions abalone. ;)

I am under the impression that Disney restaurants aren't there to "blow me away" with their offerings. It has to be hard to appeal to EVERYONE from EVERYWHERE.

I come from the Louisiana/Mississippi border - IMHO, we have THE best dishes ever created! (I may be a little biased).

In all our trips to the world, our two trips to Les Chefs de France have left much to be desired.

Maybe I should try it one more time. Our first visit to San Angel Inn was not great, but our second trip was unbelievable!

I really want to try Raglan Road next.

I think it is soon to be Canada. Why ruin a perfectly good thing? I don't like this all day menu thing. The burger was dropped and it was amazing. People loved it and some claimed it was the top burgers they've had in their life, and I agree. Sometimes it is so hot, it is mid-day at lunch with a lot of Epcot activities to still do, and I don't want a heavy steak. It was great that they had different items at lunch, yet some of the dinner favorites like the mushroom filet were options. And that is fine, because that steak is addictive.

Seriously, I went for lunch for my cheddar soup and the burger, and every trip I can't get dinner reservations the past few years, but I was happy with lunch because the burger was amazing. Totally my disappointment coming out.

The prices are now ridiculous and since my last trip, Flying Fish is slowly replacing Le Cellier in my must do list.

Though, who am I kidding, I am still going to go for the soup.

I finally agree with many that Le Cellier is now overrated. I just lost the best burger in WDW and I am miffed. Can't get ressies for dinner and now can't get what I love at lunch. I am bummed truly.
Never went to WP because I hit it in Atlantic City. Well, a different restaurant of his but some menu items are similar.

It has to be Via Napoli for me, as I haven't been to any signatures yet. The pizza we got was pretty flavorless and cardboard-like, and another in our party was quite disappointed in the spaghetti he received. For this to be touted as such an authentic experience, with the fancy imported water to cook with and all of that, in the end we got a $40 pie that was only half eaten because we were so hungry. We won't be returning.
I will also vote Big River Grille as the most UNDER rated place on property, we love it there! NEVER had bad service or bad food, and you can't beat the ambience sitting on the boardwalk enjoying a micro brew and a heaping plate of nachos or a kobe beef burger!
I love via Napoli it is a great meal and if you get a pizza you can save a lot of money for a family of 4. I was able to feed my family for 15 dollars more then a quick service. I am not saying it is the best restaurant on property by good for the price. I would have to say any buffet I have been at. I do not see the value of spending 37 dollars and 16 for kids to eat a buffet. I think the food is like a Golden Corral but more expensive. They are not horrible but the price is over inflated. If I had the DP I would eat at more buffets but on out of pocket money not worth it in my book.

Just been reading " Everything WDW " and lots of reviews of restaurants at WDW. There is a " Most over rated " chapter as well.So what restaurant at WDW do you consider to be "Over Rated" ? I know this may have been discussed before, but one just wonders.

Hmmmm....gosh this is hard. I would say now Brown Derby. The menu used to be better and now it is just not worth the signature dining experience. But I also feel that really isn't a WDW restaurant so .... i don't get all the hype about Sci Fi and Prime Time.

I was disappointed in Coral Reef. Unless you sit in front the aquarium doesn't add much to the decor and the food I got was over-cooked. I also was not a big fan of Hollywood Brown Derby.

Unlike many I love Le Celier and will be going there again in May.

Greetings first time poster and welcome to WDWMAGIC!:) Now in my opinion, I believe that the most overated restaurant in WDW is the San Angel Inn. I know it may look good or sound appealing but it ain't what it's worth for the fact it's the best located WS restaurant.

Liberty Tree Tavern... I've eaten at real taverns (well, sorta) in Williamsburg and LTT was disappointing. I understand that MK is not the place to go for authentic food, but I still felt like the sides were of KFC quality. Blegh.

50s Prime Time... I really wanted to love this place. Honestly, I did love the decor and I did love the entertainment, but the menu was lackluster and so was the meal I ended up ordering. I had been wanting the tuna casserole but they updated the menu before we went and took that item off. No luck for me I guess.

Our worst dining experience from our last trip was at sci-fi, although the kids loved it the food that we were served was at its best reheated I'm not saying that it was reheated it just seemed that way. The only thing that we enjoyed was the onion rings.
