Most Over Rated Restaurant at WDW.

Overrated... Let me see.

LeCellier- Is extremely overrated, first time I ate there it was amazing, after that it became borderline disgusting. My wife and kids love it so we usually make daily ADR's for every trip just incase, but I really don't care for the place.

San Angel Inn- The only restaurant on property my family and I avoid at all costs. Even during the busiest times of the year you can still get in, I wonder why?

Cosmic Ray's- For quick service, this has to be the worst. People glow about this place and its topping bar, but when a toppings bar is ever mentioned as a high point, you have to seriously take a long look at the food...Worst quick service on property, bar none because you cannot lower the bar anymore.

I have eaten at every restaurant on property, need any more advice, let me know.

what makes le cellier "borderline disgusting," in your opinion? not attacking, just curious. i think it's a VERY rich meal, so i could see if you thought it was kind of a belly bomber, especially if you do the soup, then a steak.

I would say the Luau at Polynesian.

I could list all the reasons why I won't be doing that again anytime soon, but it would take up half the screen!

Just booked 10 ADR's for this December - our third holiday trip since '08. As a family of 5 with teens, we've dined at nearly every Signature place - many of them twice. Family opinions differ, as you would expect - but the places that simply didn't meet all of our expectations include The Luau at Polynesian (good entertainment, dry food), Les Chefs (noisy, cramped, and food disappointed), and Cinderella's Royal Table (yes it's character dining, but the food was terrible).

The places that felt over-hyped include California Grill, Ohana, and Le Cellier - these were good dining experiences that simply didn't meet our (perhaps overly high?) expectations.

The places we thoroughly enjoyed include Citricos, Narcoossee's, Coral Reef (to our surprise!), and the Hollywood Brown Derby. Oh, and a shout-out for 50's Prime Time Cafe - its not Signature, but the food was good and the service was exceptionally memorable!

As many have said already, this is obviously very subjective. A good example might be the Brown Derby - we've booked a 3rd time for this Christmas based on our own experience, yet forums abound with abysmal reviews of their food and service.

In my opinion, you did yourself a favor. I know I said I wasn't going to list reasons...but I've changed my mind.

1) The food options vary from decent to pretty good. And they market it as "all you can eat", so why not get more of the good stuff? Well...the wait staff runs and hides after delivering your food to not interfere with guests view of the show. If you want something (including a drink refill), you have to get up and go check out the area near the kitchen entrance / bathrooms to find your server.

2) The servers all seemed to be retirees on my visit. While I don't care about my server's age, having a 60 something overweight old man sweating like a pig and smelling similar serving your food is not enjoyable. I did tip that guy, and he was extremely nice. I don't blame him, as were I in his shoes, I'd probably be in a similar condition. But, it still wasn't enjoyable.

3) The "building" (it's outdoors, so it's more like a covered porch) is cramped. It's also quite dark. They have crammed so many tables and chairs into it that you can hardly stand up without hitting the chair behind you. The chairs are heavy and bulky. The table is far too small for the size of the platters they bring you, by the time you add drinks and eating plates, you expect something to fall on the ground. The ceiling is low so you don't get any breeze. When I went, it was very hot (high 80s), and a breeze would have been welcome. I'm 6'2" and 190 lbs, and I was extremely uncomfortable the entire show.

4) The show itself is underwhelming and campy. It has it's moments (the fire twirlers), but it's not fantastic.

All that being said, my kid got picked to go dance up on the stage (along with about 20 other kids), and she absolutely adored it. So, to each their own.

Why so much hate for Le Cellier??

Definitely the BEST restaurant I've eaten at so far! 3 Ressies coming up in August :)
I've never had anything but great service and very good food there, but as with anything no place is perfect and bad experiences tend to be remembered and highlighted more than good ones.

A lot of people expect it to be super-fantastic and set expectations that may be unattainable because it's so hard to get ADRs for. Fact is it's probably the smallest-capacity in-park restaurant and would be hard to get ADRs for regardless. I always manage to get an ADR or two every trip. :D

I don't think it's hate,we had an ADR on our last visit, the service was ok,but our overall experience was way below par.Maybe it was all the hype and we were expecting to be blown away,it just didn't happen, the signature soup was awesome but our signature fillets were just ok,like I've said in previous threads, maybe the chef was having a bad day?

I have eaten here 4 times and never once has it fell below my expectations. I guess my standards may be lower but we love the steaks there and the service has been outstanding. I was here in February and ordered the beer sampler. It was like 4 Canadian beers. I told my server that one of them tasted like a Christmas candle and he didn't charge me for any of the 4 glasses. Just my 2 cents.

Don't care much for San Angel inn. Food and service are substandard but the atmosphere I'd fantastic.

Let Cellier has been hit or miss, once great, once poor, and once meh.

I don't think Le Cellier is 'really overated' but I was fairly disappointed when we went, there was nothing wrong with the food is was good but didn't blow me away like I was expecting. The service wasn't great either, we had to wait far too long to be seated and then felt a bit rushed through. We are no rush to go back particularly now it is two TS credits... I might consider Lunch in the future but I doubt if it was anything like it was for us it could be worth two credits for Dinner.
