Most Depressing Attraction To Lose...

How did I know this thread would get crapped within a day?

Let this one go guys. Surely we all liked things that used to be at WDW or we wouldn't have went back then. It's not that big of a deal to talk about former attractions and share experiences about them is it? This would be the same thing as going to one of the movie message boards I go to and say that you can't talk about any films released before 1995.

This thread is harmless. Give it a break :)

Sometimes I think you guys would complain about this video because "They should just be playing their X-Box 360's"

It's amazing to me how I play some of these levels the exact same way
And sometimes it seems that everyone would rather be using this... ;)

In case you're wondering... it's a TRS-80 that I used about 18 years ago. The so-called heydey of E.P.C.O.T!

That's an awesome pic! I bet that thing weighed a ton. It's great to look back on that and it's great to think of the good times you had with that. But I think all of us enjoy our HD sets too :)

There's room for honoring the past and enjoying the present and looking forward to the future

Funny thing....FOSSIL came out with a leather case for that which clipped onto your belt. Sadly though, the cost of the ensuing lawsuits for damaged hips forced them to move on to other products.:D

IMO it would have to be 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I always loved the movie and always had to get on that ride even though the scenes were alittle "cheesy" at times.

I agree that 20,000 Leagues would be my pick along with Wonders of Life but I made those picks for another reason. While I miss World of Motion and Horizons those two attractions have been replaced with great rides. I also miss Dreamflight and Mr Toad but I like Buzz Lightyear and Winnie the Pooh. 20,000 Leagues wasn't my favorite ride but replacing it with Ariel's Grotto and Pooh's Playful Spot just doesn't cut it. In fact, I think it really sucks. Now I don't think that they necessarily have to rebuild 20k leagues but I really wish that the guys who run WDW would do SOMETHING there (at least build an attraction rather than a cue to meet a Disney Princess). Same with Wonders of Life.

Actually, WofL closed quite recently so I guess we can cut WDW some slack. But if I could change protocol I'd say that before an attraction could be closed, a new attraction should be readied for construction. I'm just fine with the fact that "Tarzan Rocks" is closed and that the "Finding Nemo" show will take a few months before the new theater is constructed. But remember how long the Horizons building just sat around? My next trip to WDW will be in May of 2007. By that time I'd like to see something that takes the place of Timekeeper. I'd like to see something that takes the place of Wonders of Life. And PLEASE, PLEASE don't touch Carousel of Progress!

The gate attendance was up at MK last year. Most people spend one or two days in the park right now. Why is it necessary to build an attraction on 20K spot just because they have some real estate? Doesn't it make more financial sense to work on problem areas?

When/If it becomes necessary to expand MK to spur growth or handle the crowds, I'm willing to bet that you will see that area utilized. 20K closed a long time ago and is in the middle of an area that has plenty of attractions. The need to retrofit TK spot seems to be of more importance to me. But, because the MK is not really needing expansion, I don't think you'll see a major e-ticket replace TK.

Magic Kingdom - The Original Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress (if they ever do the awful deed), Dreamflight, anything that has been in the Circlevision Theater.
EPCOT - Cranium Command, The Making of Me, Horizons, World of Motion, Food Rocks!, Kitchen Kabaret, Journey Into Imagination (original), Captain EO, Tapestry of Nations, and any of the proposed pavilions.
Disney-MGM - Animation Studio (what moron axed this wonderful backstage tour?), Hunchback of Notre Dame stage show.
Animal Kingdom - The boats that went around the waterways when the park first opened (hopefully they'll come back).

Its good to know I'm not the only one who misses Food Rocks dearly. I was watching the video of it on my ipod over and over again. It was sortof my favorite part of Epcot next to Horizons and Journey into Imagination

By far I miss Horizons the most, but I also miss World of Motion, Journey Into Imagination, Universe of Energy, and CommuniCore a great deal. I think CommuniCore was a lot more friendlier than Innoventions, and more aesthetically pleasing.

It's too bad 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea isn't still around, and I'll miss the Timekeeper.

There's various reasons why attendance was up - a better economy, new attractions, plus it's a great park. I'm not arguing that the Magic Kingdom isn't a wonderful theme park nor am I saying that it isn't managed exceptionally well. I'm just saying that in the instance of 20,000 leagues, they took a good attraction out and didn't replace it with an attraction. They didn't replace it with much of anything. Sure there are lots of other attractions around it and I can't wait to visit them soon. I think it's great that WDW builds a lot of new attractions. I also love visiting old classic attractions again and again. I just don't like it when they take down an attraction without any plans to put something else in its place.

I know it takes money to keep an attraction running. I also realize that an attraction that has a larger ride capacity than public interest (El Rio del Tiempo for example) is in some ways a failure for WDW. These discussion forums are for people to express opinions. Here's mine. When I go to WDW it's for 10 or 11 days. The more attractions, the better. If an attraction is torn down, I'd like WDW to replace it with something else.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Extra TERRORestrial Alien Encounter. I never even got to try AE!!!! :( To me it was a HUGE part of what made Tomorrowland Tomorrowland and as soon as I got up the courage to go on it they take it down and put Stitch:fork: in its place. I love the movie Lilo and Stitch but I think that their presence would be more appropriate in Adventureland.

Two words: Michael Eisner, when he closed the Florida animation studio.

Oh, you mean that 'moron' that brought us MGM Studios in the first place? Not to mention 75% of what's on property today.

For the attractions I have been on, I miss AE and Wonders of Life.

AE was creative and fun while Wonders of Life was a fun place to blow off some steam. Plus it had one of Epcots best shows Crainium Command, that was such a fun and witty show.:)

I seriously almost cried when I found out that they were going to replace it with Sitch. It didn't help when it turned out that SGE really really sucked.

I miss Tiki room and If you had wings. Not because they were a colossal smash, but because it brings back memories of when my parents and grandparents were so young and active. Just as I hope the memories I build with my kids today will bring them happiness when I am an old fuddy.

I just loved seeing my parents so happy and childlike at Disney. What I wouldn't give to have those days back!
