Ugh and the thing was in their mouths, too. No more kisses from them for a few days. Ugh. I'm soooo grossed out. And now, I have to figure out how to move it and where to put it.

I would not worry about the doggy kisses (remember they lick their own bits, so a bird is no biggie in comparison )

As for the carcus, treat it as you would a doggy stool - either shovel it into the trash or pick it up via a plastic bag.

As for where the bird came from, I'd guess the dog found it like that. Birds will either die of natural causes or be killed by domestic cats, the latter being one of the biggest causes of dropping bird populations.
