With everything being looked at for cut backs there is one area that is very quietly being considered. I have it on a very good source that afte the begining of the year that Illuminations will be cut down to three nights.

It looks like Disney will wait untill the shock of the Fantasmic cut back settles and then the next cut will be to reduce the showings of Illuminations. I belive the thinking is with Fantasmic down to two nights and Illuminations at three they have most of the week covered for night time offerings. They would stagger the showings so they can use the same entertainment staff for all of the shows.

If Illumnations goes to three nights I think this will be an even bigger hit than having Fantasmic cut to two nights. The only park that will not lose it's nightly fireworks will be the Magic Kingdom. Again the above is still a rumor, how ever the manager that told me about this is the same one who told me about Fantasmic ad a few other itmes that have come to light.

Keep you eyes open.. A lot of changes fo 2009

Not saying this wont happen, but the staffing issue sounds wrong. Fant and RoE use a massively different number of staff. The positions are also very specific, and I would doubt they could inter-change the staff like that.

The firework shows also order their pyro months (up to a year) in advance. It's always possible they could change things, or store product, but I think if this were the case, it would have leaked out already.

We can also look back at the bleak times of 2001 to 2003, and IllumiNations survived the cuts there. Just to put it in context for those who wernt around during that time, thinigs got so bad they closed Caribbean Beacn and Port Orleans completely.

The nightly fireworks at Epcot has long been the staple that keeps people in World Showcase eating and drinking all night. I just dont see them sacrificing that. We should also consider that Siemens are onboard for sponsoship of the show. I would think there would be contracts in place that would require a certain frequency of shows.

Wishes will have its showings cut before Illuminations. You can take this to the bank. There are "entanglements" that require Epcot to have a nightly fireworks show. You can thank the park being full of 3rd party businesses for this.

Sorry for the thread drift into levity land. It's what I do. :dazzle:

So, yeah, I agree with Steve. They need IllumiNations to make the World go round.

Too bad buying Exxon gas wouldn't have saved the Kinetic Mosaic Radok screens, or buying a General Electric refrigerator wouldn't have saved Horizons. :(
