Just wanted to know if your store was hit in this new set of closing's ours was. Here in Canton Ohio the Westfield Belden village Disney store closed 1/24/10 what a sad day for this area but who do you blame. The Disney store said the mall sold the lease from under them. But remember you have the mall that said they were trying to work with Disney on a different spot in the mall. Here we go again Disney store never heard of this funny thing the music store had to go also next to the Disney store. In a letter from Disney today they stated they alway's don't know why one store stays one goes but it was not that the store was not making money and that as of now we have no reopen of a store in the area but Disney real estate would be notified. That was the real surprise as bad as the economy has been the manager of this store said they could not believe how much money they made in the last year someone said they were in the top five to ten stores. Earlier I said this was funny now I will say why just read a post on here from 1/7/10 that the New York store is going to share a spot with Forever 21 and Mac. guess what the mall said they needed both spaces for in this mall yep Forever 21 now is this odd or what. Are they in with Disney somehow? So if your store closed do you know whats going in or was your store in a Westfield mall?

If memory serves me correctly, the Disney Stores are not operated by Disney at all. It is a separate company that has licensing agreements. It is this company that makes a decision whether a store remains open.

I can say in my area that there are 4 very large malls within 30 minutes of each other in the most extreme case. 3 of the malls had Disney Stores. They shutdown 2 and the other is always crowded with people. I don't go often because I get the same prices online. It also save money from my DD grabbing other stuff.

Hi there, I live in Va. and the mall nearest to me is the Dulles Town Center mall. The Disney store has been in that mall ever since the mall opened in 1999.

I can say I was shocked to hear that my Disney store will be closing in the next few weeks. The store has always been busy with people and i know that I would always go shop there before we would go on vacation to WDW.

I am not sure if Disney has taken owner ship back over their stores they were previously owned by the Childern place. For our location I do not think it is being closed due to sales , I see much restructuring in store locations so I am thinking it is rent issues. To tell you how serious it is the Verizon store which is located on UL as soon as you enter mall has been moved to an end corridor that is not a high traffic area.

I also I had read in the NY Times back in Oct. 2009 some where that stores were being closed to redo and make them more interactive so not sure if this is part of the phase.

Again for the stores closing is taking away part of the magic fix I get when not able to get to WDW.

Happened to my old store the lease was given to Coach and J-Crew. 10% of TDS were closed and the ones that were closed were closed because they were in bad areas or in badly placed areas.

My store will be reopeing as the new Imagination Park store next year.

Not for nothing but the Disney stores sell crap anymore and all this talk of magic mirrors and princesses talking to you when you walk past mirrors does nothing for the fact that its still a bunch of garbage in the store.

I went to the Disney store looking for Pin trader bags just to have the woman tell me that the Disney store was no longer allowed to sell anything Pin trader related or autograph books......that being said as Im standing next to princess crap and wands, it really ticks me off.

The CM you were talking to was not well informed we are allowed to sell Pins and autograph books and this issue is being adessed.

The Disney Store in Florence, KY (right outside of Cincinnati) will be closing by Feb. 20th. That was the only store close in the area. The next store is in Columbus-2 hour drive away.

So they WILL be selling such stuff in the future? Because this store had NOTHING unless you were a baby and liked handy Manny and Princesses.

There will be a bunch of new lines launching in the near future. Back to the Pins we are allowed to sell them but they never sell and we end up marking them down to .99 every time. We should have autograph books though I don't get that :brick:

Xtina, I hear you. The quality of merchandise in the Disney Stores I've been in within the past couple years is seriously diminished. I've been in a couple (can't remember exactly where...certainly not in my area since the nearest one to me is about 2 hours away) even since Disney bought them back and not much has changed. It's still all toys and princess crap with next to nothing in the way of adult apparel & stuff for the house. Gone were the fun things like snowglobes, artwork, watches, etc. If I still had 6 year olds or a pre-pubescent girl the store would be worth the 2 hours on the road to Houston. But I don't so it's not.

Now that I think about it, the merchandise selection and quality in the parks is moving quickly towards the same generic or princess crap in the stores. Such a shame....:(

Steve Jobs involved...and Apple of course! Figures since Steve is their largest shareholder and is on the board. With Roy Disney gone who's to stop Apple...but I digress.

The stuff in those stores is way overpriced and we only buy if it's at least 50% off. I would love to see the new stores but fear that Dis will lose lots of money with them.

The company has turned around since DIsney took over.
