More Changes for JII rumored on Twitter

and i'm sure there were fans of the tacky wand and HISTA. Heck even Stitch probably has a handful of "fans" (aka contrarians). I speak for the majority of guests.

I don't really think you do speak for the majority of people. I don't have hard figures on any of these issues, but I think it is realistic to say that predominantly hardcore WDW fans hated the wand. Most guests didn't have a real opinion either way, and there was an outcry by the otherside when it came down.

HISTA was extremely popular when it opened and for a long time after. It got a bad rap because it was tied into the whole imagination pavilion refurb debate and it just got old.

While I do think Stitch is a lesser ride than AE I totally understand why they replaced it. AE never had a line and as good it was it really wasn't a repeatable ride. I loved AE, but it was one of the first cuts I would make at the MK on a busy day, unless I was with someone that had never been on it before. Combined with all the complaints it is easy to see why they replaced it.

For the record I love the Mexico update and I enjoy the Seas, even though Nemo is the only Disney animated movie I don't like.

Also people tend to forget even if an idea or opinion is absolutely accepted as fact on these boards, or other places like it, the opinion of the general public can be the complete opposite.

No, like many others here, you're opining to read your own supposed brilliance on the computer screen.....

IMHO, I majorly prefer El Rio del Tiempo- it was much more mysterious and charming than Gran Fiesta. And it didn't degrade a Mexican cultural attraction to a character experience.

As for Nemo- I'm appreciative of the overlay, especially Turtle Talk, but I do miss the Hydrolators (sp?) in the original version of The Living Seas.

If the poster is right that dark rides are back in vogue- YEAH! I am tired of all these film based attractions Disney loves so much recently. (Attractions using film as their prime medium for storytelling versus detailed sets and characters a la Haunted Mansion.)

We bought several CDs on my first trip in 1996, and this entire song was on one of them. When I looked it up just now, I surprised myself as I started singing along and knew all the words.

I watched the video to see what made this ride so special. It was visual, it had a consistent story, it was exciting, and the music was great. I think what makes a Disney ride great is that so much is happening at once that you get overwhelmed. It seems that the newer "dumbed down" experiences don't have this richness.

EO dosn`t really matter either way for the ride next door. What did matter is the increase in popularity of both The Seas pavilion and Mexico after the Nemo ride and Gran Fiesta Tour.

Dark rides are in fashion again basically.

That is the most musical music my ears have ever heard. What a wonderful thing to read.

Problem with DL is, they really dont have any further room for expansion so youll probably see a favorite classic attraction get replaced. DCA has gotten a billion dollar expansion so i dont see any further projects planned for the park anytime soon.

Actually it does (as stated by spono). I think around TLand against Harbor Blvd (I think).

I'm thinking Tron. :lookaroun

They have room for a 3rd park :brick:

Alright? I never said it didn't.

The strawberry fields would fit a park the size of DCA, but with the economy I'd think it'd be towards the end of the decade. Plus they need to make DCA get normal Disney numbers before they start another (disaster) park.

Thanks for the great video. It really shows how much more immersive the ride was as compared to todays version. So much more music and better quality scenes. Why did they redo this anyway? They should remember the old and mix it with new technology to really make it pop.

It was in the contract that the ride had to be redone, now cutting out most of the ride and making it from a true E to a C who knows.

One person's negativity is another's realism. There has been wave after wave of disappointment at Epcot since all the excitement 10 years ago with the new Illuminations and the parade. Since then, many "upgrades" are just meh, and folks here are so wanting for something good that we get pumped-up about triangles and new signs.

To me, California is in high-gear, and Orlando is just living on it's laurels. Reminds me of the days when Holiday Inns became dumps and people would stay there based on the strength of the brand. The "D ticket" has become the "new E". I long for the excitement that WDW once created.

But maybe I'm alone in that feeling...
You are definitely not alone.

My recollection is that Michael Eisner hated the original version of the ride, and felt that "toilets were funny". Hence the upside-down working toilet in JIYI. He was similarly out-of-touch when he pushed Superstar Limo at DCA - he thought inside Hollywood jokes would play well with the DCA crowd.

And so smell of roses got replaced by the smell of skunk, and JIYI became a real stinker.

The same man who thought Raiders of the Lost Ark would be a failure and thought Johnny Depp's character in Pirates of the Caribbean would doom the movie.

Well here's a thought.. since we can't have the original back and for sure can't have Horizons.. why not combine the ideas. We can only "imagine" what it would be like to live in space or underwater. We can only "imagine" what it will be like in the future. Instead of skunk.. give us back our orange smell. Thoughts anyone?

That upside down working toilet was one of the highlights of that strange version of the ride, I miss it!
