More "after hours" hard ticket dates

It was smart to do this during summer this year. A lot more people will be able to attend. Glad to see Disney switching it up.

If you have a trip planned- cut back one day of park tickets, and do this instead. I can’t imagine regretting it afterwards.

"Disney switching it up" would be for them to go back to the midnight closings, included in the price of the daily admission.

Adding more hard ticket events is hardly switching it up.....

This event is in it’s 3rd year now.. they are switching it to later dates than what they had during the prior 2 years.

I think by switching it, you mean, adding later dates. They also ran this earlier in the year, I believe.

"At Magic Kingdom Park that means little to no wait at 25 plus attractions and experiences."

I love this line.

You know when you used to be able to get little to no waits on attractions????

Answer: At these same exact times. When the park started to clear out after the fireworks. Now, you pay extra for that time, and people are acting like its a good thing. They took the exact same experience you already had, and just started charging you what amounts to a single day ticket for it. Brilliant by TWDC, moronic by guests to gobble it up.

I mean “switching it up” otherwise known as - “making a change”. English is my first language, I have a small grasp on it. ;)

Might be semantics, but switching it up or making a change in this sense would mean not running the offering when they normally did, but instead, changing it to different dates. In this instance, they still ran them during the historical times, but then added more dates....

And if you look at the YOY included hours data I provided earlier, you'll notice that we got less hours last year than we did in the last 5 years. What else has changed over that same period? Prices have gone up, way up, since then. Crowds, also have gone up. So they cut the hours? And now, people are advocating paying even more just to get what your increased costs don't get you anymore....

“I’m going to switch it up tomorrow and make a spinach and mango smoothie instead of the kale and blueberry smoothies that I had the past few days.”

It’s just a word with a simple meaning .. I really wasn’t trying to use some language trickery.

Do you honestly believe that the parade is the only reason the park stayed open past 10?

Is that the reason we are discussing it?
I think it's one of three primary drivers, the other two being Mine Train's newness in past years and Animal Kingdom's limited park hours back then. Just the act of going from three nighttime parks to four nighttime parks is going to result in something like a 30% decrease in demand among the legacy nighttime parks.

I’ll repeat what I realized in another thread yesterday.. the sooner you realize that Disney doesn’t owe you anything beyond their current published times/offerings, the faster you will feel less stress and anger overall. :)

I would have to say that I seriously doubt that AK is taking that much away from MK at night.

Now I'd believe that WDW wants it to, so they left the visitor with no choice.

I doubt in 2015 they surveyed people who were at MK past 10, and found out that 30% of them would rather be at AK instead......

So as a consumer, don't look at trends or the value of your dollar.......

ok......

I look at what something will cost me, and I make the decision if it is worth it to me. There is no point in bemoaning what a vacation cost a few years ago, it’s irrelevant to the current decision process of booking said vacation or not.

That's certainly your prerogative...

I like to "switch it up" and analyze my financial decisions with a little more scrutiny....

I see people say this, it doesn’t make sense to me. Let’s say you make an annual vacation budget of $10,000 total. You can do one vacation, or several smaller vacations, or two vacations.. etc etc etc.. You choose where you see the value in spending this money.

None of those decisions have to do with the price of something in 2015, right? You’re dealing with your money and decisions today, not yesterday.

Er, I think I'll get my relaxation advice elsewhere. I have read your posts in the political forum, and I am not sure you are properly qualified to be doling out this type of advice.

I’m hanging on by an exposed nerve, so trust me I am not the picture of zen.. but I choose not to add stressors such as a past event that no longer exists. That’s just inflicting pain on yourself for no reason.

We are talking about the same destination you visit over and over.

For example, we also take a yearly trip to the mountains and rent cabins, not always the same ones, but they are all in the same area. If one year, that trip cost me 20-50% more, and came with more limitations, I certainly would question that vacation moving forward. Never would I say, shucks, just need to pay more.....

Same with a restaurant you frequent, or a brand you buy. If one day it gets more expensive, you question it, right? Or do you just pay and not notice?
