Monorail to be wrapped once again

I'm guessing that is because the Epcot monorail actually runs through the park, which would be considered the use of Marvel characters within WDW theme parks which from what many have said is not allowed because of Universal. The resort and express never cross into a park so I guess that is why it's ok to run on those beams.

They can use merchandise in the parks, not on attractions, so is the monorail n attraction or transportation?

Universal owns the theme park rights for the Marvel Characters east of the Mississippi River.

I know that, but only for attractions. Apparently Disney can still sell merchandise, they just can't use them in attractions. So as in my pp the monorail is an attraction?

I know it is classified as one at DL, not sure about WDW. I could see them claiming it as an attraction, but I classify it more as a form of transportation.

It could get kind of tricky as far as the use of the Marvel characters. To most of us it's a monorail outside the parks but to most average people they view the whole resort as "Disney World". While I don't think there will be a big draw of people saying hey let's go to Disney World to ride the new Avengers monorail. I think Universal could have a very valid argument that it will create enough confusion to the general public that it could harm their business. If a parent knows their child wants to ride the Hulk coaster and then sees the Hulk monorail overhead at the ticket booth they then may think oh it's here and buy an extra day on the Disney ticket instead of spending the extra day at Universal. Of course only to find out this was incorrect but at that point it will be too late.

Gotta say...I think it looks pretty cool. The only problem I foresee is that the a/c units will have to work double overtime trying to keep the interior cool with a black exterior in the Florida heat...

Looks like a design that will work well in both directions.

I agree. I like this concept better than the other one I saw online. It can go both ways I think... And if they make it look the same on the other side, it could work.

Like have the characters on opposite ends on opposite sides? Hmmm.

I keep seeing people pointing out that Disney sells Marvel merchandise like this is something major, because Universal has the rights to the Marvel characters in a theme park. The big difference in this is that Marvel Merchandise has nothing to do with Universal and Universal can not stop anybody from selling Marvel products. You can buy marvel merchandise any where and I definitely would not buy it at Disney or Universal. The main reason for this is that you can usually get the marvel toys at retail stores across the country for cheaper than what it is sold for at Disney or Universal. The other thing is that the Marvel collectibles that you see for sale at Universal are not even exclusive to them as you can get them online from different Comic Book stores for a whole lot less even with the discount that Universal offers.

I think it looks sweet. I hope they start wrapping the next one as soon as Aveng-o-rail is on the beams and don't stop until they do all 12! They are 2 for 2 as far as I'm concerned. White with a colored stripe is boring in my opinion.

The reason the Universal deal is at issue is because, with all of their talk about show and theme and experience, Disney would normally try to characterize this wrap as part of all of that, a way to make some synergistic "Disney magic." But invoking such terms could mean that it could be argued that Marvel is allowing Walt Disney World to use the Marvel characters in a theme park setting. This is a traveling billboard and seems that is the answer that Disney would have to give, no show, no experience, just a big advertisement.

Great point. I think Disney is on solid ground regarding the agreement as well. Uni does have all rights to the theme park use of the Marvel characters east of the Mississippi, the Aveng-o-rail will never enter a park. Anyone can park at WDW (Epcot or MK or even one of the resorts) and ride the monorail free of charge. It is transportation; very cool, very unique, very futuristic transportation to be sure but still, just transportation.

I like this wrap less than I liked the Tronorail. It looks cheap and gimmicky. I dislike the characters on the side of the trains, the in-your-face advertising, and the overall design. Poor taste for Disney Transport to go along with this. Its just a matter of time before the Disney-Vacation-Club-o-rail and the Disney-Cruise-Line-o-rail arrive...and stay.

Unless the increased "revenue" from the film department helps the transportation department make upgrades to the monorail system, this incursion of movie advertisements into the beauty of EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom doesn't benefit anyone who is paying to spend time in the parks. It breaks the magic.

Once again I find myself rooting against the success of a movie because of the threat of increased visual and thematic destruction to the parks and Monorails.
