Disneyland's monorail beam is about 20 years older than than most of Orlando's and is much better condition, does it use a different system because it can't all be down to weather when it's 20 years older.

You need to also remember that the monorail at Disneyland was replaced with brand new trains in 2008. The trains at WDW have been in service since 1989. WDW did just spend millions of $$$ to upgrade the drive technology, but IMHO that is just putting ducktape over a bigger issue.

The problem with Disney today is that they are so concerned about making money, that they do not want to spend money unless they will be able to make money off of it. Attractions bring more people to the parks, which makes Disney more money. Monorails do not make money.

How does that account for beam quality? Even then, the Mark VIIs reused the Mark V bodies (except the noses) and the Mark III chassis.

Looks like they are fixing the monorail doors during normal operation lol. Also got dripped on from the ceiling while making this post.

When I was riding to MK today the monorail driver repeated like 3-4 times saying "If you are standing please do not lean against the doors."

Do they have cameras in each section? If yes, I could imagine this is directed to the one numbskull leaning against a door. The CMs can't really start screaming, "You, in the red shirt, I said stop leaning on the freaking door, you idiot!!"

Though, I wish they would. 😈

I can't figure out why they don't just paint signs on the doors. They could design them with a family-friendly Mickey, for example, saying, "For your own safety, please do not lean against the doors." (I've ridden city subway trains for years, and they've always had a warning posted on all the train doors. Note: some of us still lean on the doors though--but at least hold on to a pole while leaning . . . ;) )

There have been signs in both english and spanish printed on the doors since the trains were brought into operation. Guests just don't look for signs.

I didn’t realize them till a few trips ago... They’re extremely small and hard to see with the naked eye. I’ll see if I can find a pic later....
